Hello and welcome to chaos. Regarding our site's lore, we break from canon in that the current era is 851 ABY (After the battle of yavin), and from 428 ABY to roughly 835 ABY the galaxy suffered from a period we refer to as the "Four Hundred Year Darkness". During those 400 years the galaxy lost much of its history, entire city and planet populations were reduced to mere fractions of what they once were because of a galactic plague, and technology stagnated and even went backwards in some instances. It wasn't until 835 ABY, the year that the board started up at, that the galaxy was finally at the stages of rebuilding that allowed factions to rise up. You can view our timeline (you'll have to click each entry to see the posters we have up for them) here, or by going up to the top of your screen where the Resources dropdown is located and selecting the timeline.
