Mercy was blissfully unaware of any other presences than her own.

As far as she was concerned this was going swimmingly.

She had made a Mercy-shaped hole in the wall. Stepped on through it and promptly was met by rows and rows of... honestly, Mercy wasn't entirely sure what they were. Leaves? Seeds? Either way, most of them were ruined from the impact her body had made through the wall. It was a bit of a shame, but as far as the Sith was concerned there were still miles and miles of tunnels out there.

One room's worth of seeds gone wasn't exactly a big blip in that sense.

The fact she had just become responsible for the extinction of about twenty different flora species? Well, that didn't really register with her.

"Feth, I am good." Mercy half-muttered under her breath once she realized there were several Rakhoul corpses near the entrance of this particular room. They had been crushed by the metal ceiling pipes, dislodged from her entrance. She exited and looked around. Truth to be told all these tunnels looked rather the same to her.

She picked a random direction.

This led her closer to Adrienne and Aeshi.

Maybe it wasn't as random however. Both of them were creatures of the Darkside... it only made sense that subconsciously they'd be drawn together.

Both of them would have ample warning before they would catch a single sight of the woman. Her steps were confident, but most importantly loud. They clacked against the durasteel floor with heavy weight and purpose. Each time causing an echo that ran through the corridors. If that wasn't enough by itself?

The Sith began to hum her currently-favorite tune.

Aeshi tilted her head for a moment, listening as a cacophony echoed through the tunnels that wound their way through the library. Somebody, no, make that two somebodies, were reaching into the Force. She kept her senses close to her. One was her erstwhile companion, and it was Dark. Darker than she had realized at first.

It made her trigger finger itch, but she stayed still, gazing into the labyrinth of old corridors. There were others there as well. Jedi, perhaps, although she couldn't quite place it. Her presence tended to be muted and muddled unless she was flying, at least from what she'd heard from Roth.

That was fine. As much as she could get decent bounties from bringing in a Sith, this library had more valuable things. Not just credit wise, but things that could make life easier. Perhaps even some record of crops that grow on Sevaracos and Dorvalla, despite their blasted desert ecosystems, to start building economies outside of mining and spice.

She moved away from her companion, not wanting to be close to whatever she was trying to do with the presence of the Dark Side. This was a place where it would be more helpful to have a Jedi, Aeshi had to admit. But she hadn't thought to invite any with her. She paused next to an old computer databank.

It stilled seemed mostly intact, and she felt it with the tips of her fingers, looking for a pressure release. It popped open and she peeled it open with a squeal that set her teeth on edge.

Then she froze. Things were moving in the shadows of the corridors, headed her way. Lots of rustling and low sounds.

Rakhghoul.

They were coming.

Shadow from the Lonely Dream
The moment the six grenades were detonated caught Risa on a very pleasing thought for herself, rather than rather for the Purge Troopers.
(I like them! Starting with blowing up the door is the best way to save yourself time on killing the weaker opponents and to go straight to the one who has the ability to lead the secondary and the next stages of the attack).
By this moment the blood, heart and muscles of the girl and her skeleton had heated up to such an extent that from behind Risa's mouth there was steam flowing like from the mouth of a super volcano, ready to spew out thousands of tons of soot and dark ash at any second. To the question of whether Risa is a normal human at all, the answer is unanimously negative, she is human in her structure and basic functions, but a demon-killer by nature.
The strongest shockwave turned the nearby Purge Troopers, and in particular their internal organs (liver, lungs and so on) and the structure of many bones into the result of impulsive juicing - a soft mush of liquid and flesh. Risa had already calculated the moment of the explosion beforehand, so even if there had been survivors besides her, they would not have been able to help, except to pray to God knows who and wish that their last seconds were visually spent away from that battlefield, if such a place in their lives existed at all.
Risa herself leapt back with superhuman dexterity, one hand still firmly holding her strange rune blade, while the other finally engaged to respond. Ripping the inner walls of the metal with the force and changing their shape into a more sharply similar one the girl raised their temperature to a maxium degree (white light) and sent a couple dozen back, of course expecting her attack to be easily repelled.
In the end, "fire" of her own body was her main element due to which everything she touched melted as easily as possible in the same instant. "What clever things you two are! how do we go, two v one, one v one?" The rune mechanism worked and four more jagged mini-blades and completely white from the main blade separated, they were controlled by Risa like a true professional by the power of thought, and her other hand was tucked away in her pocket again at this point.
Risa breathed calmly, though she was all overflowing with dozens of veins through which flowed a lava-like substance that corroded the girl's body and simultaneously made her an entirely different being from a mere human.

TASK FORCE CRIMSON

Soon enough, two small corvette-sized ships emerged from hyperspace positioning themselves right behind the Tiberius' Cruiser and elevating themselves into a position to open fire. Upon arrival, the new arrivals broadcasted a message to the FDS Raptor and it's accompanying Light Cruiser informing them that the Globlex Security Division of the Globlex Corporation was carrying out a military response against the Final Dawn and that if they believed there was some sort of misunderstanding the pair of Judgement-Class Light Cruisers would have to power down their weapons and contact their customer service.

Torson clenched his hand as the message ended, who were these Corpos to think that they had any power here, to interfere with his operation and to even suggest that they power down their weapons. To make things worse, both corvettes began to open fire upon the FDS Mynock which only further infuriated the Politorate Agent. As the bridge of the Raptor shook from the explosions generated by the confrontation between Naivia Ri and Tiberius, Torson slammed his hand on one of the consoles proceeding to issue new orders in an angry and infuriated tone. "Enough with this pointless charade!" he began. "Return fire upon those Corvettes, and prepare our Starfighters for deployment. I want the space around Woostri cleared from these distractions ASAP!!!" the Special Agent ordered.

As the two Corvettes continued their attack on the FDS Mynock, the Light Cruiser's primary weapons came live and soon they began unleashing their own armaments, firing deadly volleys of turbolaser fire and launching dozens of
missiles upon both corvettes with the intent of absolutely annihilating them and reclaim control over the Space of Woostri. If these people thought the Final Dawn would back down so easily, then clearly they did not understand who they were dealing with, and Torson would make sure they would pay the price of their ignorance and insults to the Final Dawn.

SEGMENT BLUE - MAINTENANCE TUNNEL

The world - or maybe underworld was more apt - was reduced to grainy shades of green. Low light vision. Not exactly easy on the eyes, but it beat navigating by stubbing their toes on everything. And there was plenty to stub their toes on. The maintenance tunnels were a jagged mess. Coolant dripped from exposed piping. Discarded tools, batteries, and more than a few busted wall panels were left laying around.
VN-1033 didn't envy the guys who'd have to clean this stuff up. But they'd probably be droids, so, as a matter of fact, who gives a shit? Not him. Not his fireteam. They talked among themselves, bored already on coms.
Felt like he was trapped, honestly. Trapped in a room listening to the worst podcast ever.
"My girlfriend says it was an op."
"Of course it was a fucking op," ST-1195 shot back, "He exploded, Doug. His corpse shot gamma radiation into the crowd."
YU-8478 - hardliner from Anaxes, junior officer - cleared his throat, "Operating numbers, please."
They ignored him. Because it was easy to ignore YU-8478.
"It's not that I don't think it's an op," FT-5250 - Doug - continued, a little offended, "Because it must have been. It's more like - what was the point? What purpose did it serve? Who's responsible?"
ST-1195 scoffed like it was the dumbest question he'd heard, "Who knows. Probably the same scumshit loser who ran his memorial concert. If anyone cared enough to follow the money, they could figure it out, but…"
"Hold." VN-1033 held up a fist, and the whole line stopped.
They hung around in an uncomfortable silence for about half a minute. Just 'cause VN-1033 wanted them listening real closely to the silence. "We're getting close to the outer wall. Tighten up. And keep your coms clear."
After listening to an assortment of five meek "copy that's", VN-1033 continued their grim little procession through Segment Blue's underbelly. About a minute later, they passed right by all six of Globex's droids, none the wiser.

As the Mawites (the distinction between its subfactions lost on Globex) returned fire with vigour, the eighty Ashwings would surge forward - as the heavy torpedoes the corvettes carried. Naturally, some would be lust to point defence fire - and some ram themselves into the incoming missiles to stop them from reaching their targets.

Still, they would remain fairly numerous, at least for now.

The Legions themselves, however, would immediately begin dropping behind the Pride of Anaxes in response; despite only briefly staying in the opposition's line of fire, their shields were already in a critical condition and parts of the hulls singed.

That was not to say they were entirely without advantages, however; while the Ashwings descended on the Mynock like a swarm of locusts eagre to attempt to shave off weaponry or physically ram themselves into its hangars, the Legions began to pull away from the battle. They had the advantage of range over the Mawite cruisers.

It remained to be seen how effective two heavy ion cannons would be against a cruiser, of course.

Especially since it would take them a while to achieve a firing vector from a safer distance.

---

"I cannot claim to be an expert, but the space battle seems to be going poorly?" Desric glanced at some of the security experts present, but again it was AMCO that answered him. "Without external variables, a beneficial outcome is estimated at 89% likelihood, contingent on the success of the boarding party. If it fails, the odds of victory are 13%."

"... I see. I certainly hope these 'Paladins' live up to their reputation."

The team of Scions remained stationary for perhaps half a minute after the SSG contractors passed them by, then moved as one with one exception. The last Scion would take a moment to a small device to a wall before hurrying to join the rest.

Precisely five minutes later - about one minute before the contractors were estimated to reach the Scions' entry point, should they take the optimal route - a communications jammer would leap into action, attempting to fill local frequencies with nothing but static. It would not cover the whole Segment, far from it, but at least one team should be in range.

Better they know something is off than know for sure external operatives were present.

It was not inconceivable that the rebellious droids would interfere with comms, after all.

Adrienne watched as Aeshi took off ahead down the corridor.

For a moment, she remained still – rooted to the spot as she concentrated on the amulet she'd brought along. The blood-red gem grew warm in the palm of her hand. The Rakghouls were close... she began to feel the horde drawing near.

But that wasn't all.

Heavy footsteps echoed from another direction. And the notes of a little song being hummed. Strange. Turning, Adrienne spotted the source: a woman with a rather imposing form. Her free hand hovered near the hilt of her saber momentarily, until she realized that this woman was also the source of the Darkside that she'd felt earlier.

"And who do we have here?" Adrienne would ask in a low tone, eyebrows arched.

But there wasn't much time for proper introductions it seemed.

The sound of the Rakghouls was very close now. In fact, she could see the shadows shifting up ahead – towards where she'd seen Aeshi go. Well, good luck to you, spacer. Adrienne certainly wasn't going to rush in to save the day. Much the opposite, in fact. Drawing the power of the darkside to her, she began to feed into the crystal – with any luck, she'd be able to ensnare a few of the Rakghouls and bend them to her will.

"Do me a favor and don't kill them all," she said, glancing sidelong at Mercy.

Satoshi said all the words that Oceiros usually used, which on paper was great but in practice disturbed the shorak on a fundamental level. It was like hearing a big man talk with a piping, squeaky voice. Sure, you can make out the words, absorb the meaning - it just doesn't sound right.
Oceiros blinked at Satoshi, his brow knitting, "Uh, yeah, man?" Like, what. He couldn't get over it.
Fortunately Harcrow was there to set the record straight. "Oh, right. Yeah, the chip."
TD-1343 had given him a sync-chip on the way over. In all the excitement and good vibes, Oceiros had almost forgotten about it. Oceiros dug it out of his pocket and slotted it into the port behind his ears. His eyes lit up a cold blue color as data scrolled across his field of vision.
Two indicators popped up in the corner of his eye. Satoshi and Harcrow. It'd report their vitals and their general proximity to him, but it couldn't report their vibes. The limits of even modern technology, man.
"I mean, they got a rough idea. They got blueprints to tell 'em there's a vault, but no ledgers to say what's in it," Oceiros said to Harcrow, "Probably like an inert space-droid datacore. Maybe a limb. Somethin' weird."
Oceiros had very little interest in material wealth, so he only scratched his beard as they descended into the murky wilds of Segment Blue.

The whistling came to an end quickly when Mercy came face to face with Keres.

Until Mercy whistled again, but decidedly of a different and more lecherous persuasion.

"Can ask ya jus' the same, buttercup." The large woman would drawl lazily with a crooked grin. She was about to flirt (or Mercy's equivalent of flirting, which was as subtle as a brick to the head, but perhaps just a touch more aggressive) some more when Adrienne dug out the amulet. It was pulsating in quite the crimson fashion.

She sniffed.

Right, yeah, okay. Darkside.

It was sometimes (always) difficult for Mercy to see further than her nose was long. She could barely pierce past her own signature at the best of days, but the beatings of wings and scrap of bloody talons against durasteel?

Mercy didn't have to be a Sense genius to know what was about to happen.

"Mkay, and then ya can tell me what ya be doing 'ere." As Mercy slowly cracked her neck and stretched her stomach decided to grumble. "Maybe over dinner." Before Keres could respond to THAT... Mercy already dashed off towards the mutated crowd of Sithspawn. She was remarkably fast for someone build like a tank.

If her movement had been less than quiet before now it was positively bounding through the facility as she crashed into the Sithspawn.

Oh, yes, this was going to be messy.

The snarling of Rakghouls, somewhere off in the distance, reached Alex and Seku's ears as they stood in the entry way to the archives.

"Was that what I think it is," Seku asked, glancing towards Alex with a nervous expression on her face.

"Rakghouls? I wouldn't be surprised," Alex answered.

"That reminds me, we're going to need a dose of the vaccine."

Before Alex could react, Seku reached into an inner pocket on her coat and retrieved an auto injector, pressing it against his left shoulder and pulling the trigger.

"OW! Damn it! Warn me before you go and do that again," Alex protested. "I hate needles!"

"Sorry," Seku replied with a sheepish grin, as she administered a dose of the vaccine to herself.

"How long does this stuff last before you need another dose?"

"About 5 or 6 hours roughly."

"That quick?"

"I never said it was perfect, I only said that it works."

"Let's hope we don't reach the point to where we run out, because I'm really not liking the alternative you presented...."

"Alex, that's the absolute worst case scenario. I highly doubt we'll be here that long."

"I hope you're right. Because I'm really getting a bad feeling about all of this."

Adrienne's eyes narrowed slightly when the tank-like woman whistled at her. The answer she'd posed had been returned with another. It seemed both of them would miss out on any actual information in favor of posturing. However, it seemed that this other woman was fine going along with the plan – to fight against the Rakghouls.

This would give Adrienne time to do what she needed to do.

Dinner? That gave the sith pause, and she merely gave Mercy a sideways glance. Well, maybe if she earned the meal, then Adrienne would buy. And that meant helping her get to the source of the Rakghouls here... and securing it for herself.

She certainly wasn't opposed to using someone to attain what she wanted. And if it cost her a bantha-steak dinner, so be it.

As the clash began, Adrienne stood off behind Mercy. Concentrating on the amulet again, the glow would grow to illuminate the immediate area. She'd call to the Rakghouls, well – to the nearest grouping.

A small number halted their attack and seemed to wrestle with what to do...

Would it work? Or would she be forced to draw her own saber and slay them before they could attack her?

Mercy was having the time of her life.

It was difficult to keep Adrienne's request in mind however.

Don't kill them all.

That wasn't really her usual modus operandi when a gaggle of snarling animals were trying to chew her up. She tore one of the Rakghouls from limb to limb barehanded, before she remembered the request. From there on out the attempt was made to preserve their lives. No killing blows. She pulled her punches and kicks... and her forehead, as she did her best to incapacitate the critters.

This made it all the more risky to herself.

"You getting what ya need, lady?" Over her shoulder as she headbutted one of the creatures into the wall. Behind her the dozen or so creatures Keres was trying to influence with her creepy medallion were being increasingly more confused.

They did not try to attack the would-be master.

But they were currently snarling at Adrienne. As if every fiber in their body was telling them to do so anyway. Clearly they needed some discipline, a stern word or two, or perhaps... maybe a biscuit?

"Marshal, this is the Anaxes, shall we engage?"

"No. Hold back. We shall soon have their bridge."

At this, the Pride of Anaxes pulled back, letting the allied corvettes do the fighting while it provided fire support on enemy starcraft.

Tiberius turned his focus back to the hallway before him, which was now littered with bodies, some of them still moving, struggling to vocalize screams from their pulped innards. Amid the carnage, a figure came racing for Tiberius' platoon.

"Thermal readout on that one is skyrocketing," remarked Akilles cooly, even as he shouldered his carbine and fired three bolts of superheated plasma straight toward Naivia Ri Naivia Ri .

Whoever she was, Tiberius would not let her slow their advance.

"Paladins, forward. Breachers up," he called over the comms.

The platoon came on in a rush around the corner, firing a torrent of blaster bolts. Two breachers stayed behind the main wave, reaching out with their technomancy to access the servos of the blast door.

It began to creak open.

Torson watched as the battle unfolded, with the Corvettes withdrawing to take cover behind the Anaxsi Cruiser as they began to take some punishment from the two Light Cruisers. "Enemy Corvettes are deploying droid starfighters." an officer said. As the officer finished speaking, Torson watched as a swarm of droid starfighters emerged from the Corvettes, charging towards the Mynock with some ramming into missiles headed towards the enemy corvettes, and others headed straight on a collision course with the Light Cruiser. As the Drones approached the Mynock it unleashed it's Heavy Anti-Starfighter Weaponry upon the Drones destroying most of them before they could reach the Light Cruiser with only a few remaining Drones hitting their mark leaving the Mynock largely unscathed.

Then, the Anaxsi Cruiser began to pull back at the same time, leaving the two Corvettes to fend for themselves. Torson smiled, now was their chance to end this battle. "Move all ships into position to engage those Corvettes, i want them destroyed at once." the Special Agent ordered. Soon enough the Raptor and the Mynock began to move forward beginning to close in on the Corvettes, intent on destroying them once and for all. It was then that a loud noise was heard from the hallway outside which caught the attention of everyone on the bridge. "What was that?" Torson asked. "Sir, it seems that they are currently trying to break through the blast door at the end of the hallway outside." an officer said in response.

"What's the status of the other units." Torson inquired. "The internal security system mainframe has been secured and the area around it is clear of any hostiles. However we are still facing significant opposition near the engines, the shield generators and the life support system." another officer said. "Good. Prepare all Internal Security Systems for activation, it's time we showed these so-called Paladins the folly of attempting to board a Final Dawn Warship" the Special Agent proclaimed. Then an alert rang throughout the bridge, then an officer cried out. "Sir, more ships emerging from hyperspace."

Then as if on queue, two
Katana-Class Heavy Cruisers bearing the insignia of the Final Dawn emerged from hyperspace arriving right behind the Raptor and the Mynock. It was Torson's reserves from Naval Station Adras that had finally arrived to turn the tides and put an end to the confrontation above Woostri. "Finally" Torson muttered. "Now we can end this." Soon this battle would be over, and Segment Red would fall under the control of the Final Dawn, just as planned.

Gritting his teeth in frustration at the tactical display, Desric watched the tiny dots representing starfighter drones wink out while the Legions pulled back to ensure they stayed behind the friendly cruiser. To make matters worse, two more cruisers appeared. Mawite reinforcements, apparently - they even had a better hyperspatial approach vector!

"What in the Force's name is going on? How and why are they moving so many assets to Woostri, of all places?"

The Maw no doubt had adequate manufacturing capabilities in their conquered territories, but the logistics alone... in response to his thoughts, a galactic map appeared above the tactical display. Any supply lines back to their core territories would go through numerous hostile sectors. Covert assets seemed more likely, but why commit covert assets to overt action?

He was not a strategist, not by a long shot, but the security coordinators present seemed equally baffled.

---

AMCO, on the other hand, took the developments in stride. As they became more outnumbered while losing the fighters to surprisingly capable point defence systems, the odds of success plummeted to near-nil.

Still, it would refrain from seeking to extract its assets while the Pride of Anaxes remained.

Even as the corvettes sought to put more and more distance between them and the Mawites, AMCO was feeding sensor data, approach vectors, and assorted strategically important information to all nearby governments.

No one wanted the Maw in their neighbourhood; if their goal was conquest, it was unlikely to succeed unsupported.

Shadow from the Lonely Dream
Risa heard perfectly well the command to end this dance, and with a sigh of her hand she returned the mini-blades to the main body of her cold weapon, and with an abrupt change in attitude she looked at the paladins and without a word sighed saying through her teeth "I am not ordered, I am a force to destroy with ", spread her arms to her sides and looked with pure disinterest at the bolts flying towards her with crazy temperature, as if it was part of her own body and her nature. The front side of the girl's body was instantly filled with a magma-like, semi-hardened liquid, into which the bolts had almost effortlessly "poured" and in a minute were mixed with the fiery ish material of the girl's body. She felt no pain or heat at all. At the same moment she easily concealed the further path for Tiberis and that bio-metallic mass he called paladins with wall like heated structure. "I wasted my energy expecting something unique. But the biology of our hearts is blind to the element that created life out of hell and the torment of fire born pain." Instead of hands, Risa's parts of bodies becane strange semblances of blades, stuffed with rune language. She took a slight, almost airy step forward, as if she were floating in a gravity-free space, like a certain ballerina, first in front of Tiberius, then behind him. Only flickering lightly, in the total silence of the ongoing mini-performance with no intermission and no opportunity to get up from one's seat and leave the room. Nothing remained of the platoon...Only a throbbing mini-garden of organs remains hanging from bones (like tress) and many-meter-long nets of the once-working nervous system veins of the platoon members, formerly 'paladins'. There was absolute silence, no cry of pain, not even a signal reaching 30-50 brains about an incomprehensible danger, nature was thrown out of the world of the living as easily and painlessly as the tides of oceans, diluted with blood on planets where great conflicts once took place, now forgotten names of great figures and horror of days gone by. Risa stood silently in front of Tiberius, looking at him as if expecting something, some surprise, as if to add some poetic tone to the action. In place of the inorganic fleece-like blades were once again flaming female hands, one reaching out towards Tiberius' body. "I will destroy you all. I see nothing else." The very space around Risa was like chunks of skin peeling off the threads of space itself, the temperature of the body had long surpassed any human limits, Risa had long been dead among the living.....
"Will help with corvettes as soon as possible, agent" Risa said directly into agent's mind.

SEGMENT BLUE

The rusted screeching continues as the metal creature shambles down the corridor. It has no idea where it is going, only that it must keep going. Something unknown, or at least something forgotten, urges it forward.

After a little while, it comes across what appears to be a human body with wires and circuitry ripped out of its chest. A droid that looks human...?
Suddenly there is another human, a real human, aiming a blaster rifle at him from around the corner. "I thought I heard something weird. A rust bucket like you shouldn't even be functional. Decommissioning you will be a mercy. Not that I care. Droids aren't meant to be able to think. All rogue droids must be destroyed." He shoots three heavy blasts from the rifle, taking the creature's metal body in both legs and the head. It falls to the floor. The human walks to it and fires a last round at its head. He reaches down and pulls something out of the head, immediately dropping it and yelling "HOT! Well, the processor is fried. My job is done here." The human walks down the corridor the creature just came from.
The creature is still alive. He somehow knows that that should have destroyed a droid. But this isn't his body... Its body is inside the droid!
And there is a relatively decent droid body right there... better than this one, at least. On pure instinct, the creature reaches deep within itself, feeling its own life flowing. It can feel... some kind of Force. It feels so familiar, but it cannot place it. But it knows what it must do. The chest plate on the rusted droid rips off and away, exposing a glowing black crystal. This is the creature's true body. It uses the remaining droid arm swiftly lift out the crystal and jam it into the chest cavity of the humanoid droid. Everything goes black as the shard's body is disconnected from the old droid.
But it can feel the presence of the wiring and electronics of the new droid. It doesn't know how it does it, but it connects into the droid, rewiring it to its shard body to power it. Suddenly, it can see through new eyes. It can move four limbs freely and easily, with no rusty squeal. There is no noise at all when it moves. The droid body is still quite damaged, but it is a drastic improvement. The odds of successfully escaping this place have risen significantly. It... He reaches down and picks up the ion blaster he had dropped in the other body. "All right! Let's get out of here!"
