Private Health Lessons

Kashyyyk/Jedi Temple
Late morning/Partly Cloudy

Yenna was finally back on Kashyyyk...and she really didn't want to be there. Cas was off doing his own missions and she was stuck having to get better. Her ribs were definitely healing but they still had a ways to go before they were fully recovered. So she was forced to take it easy, having to read up and study lessons and techniques. One thing she couldn't get past was the fact that she kept getting stuck on the teachings of the one Jedi she was starting to develop a resentment for. Master Yoda. Compared to him...she was looking really bad. And no matter how much she tried not to, she kept comparing herself to him.

She sighed and shut off the terminal she was using in the archives, getting up from her seat and wandering through the halls. She had a lesson with Sakadi that was due in a few minutes. She would rather have trained with Cas but she was rather looking forward to her old idol. The thought brought a smile to her lips as she paced through the long hallways. When she finally reached the doorway to the courtyard outside, she made sure to look presentable. With as deep a breath as she could, she sighed and proceeded to look for Master Sinvala. Once she reached her, she gave a deep bow with one hand holding onto her side. She hid the wince on her face as she looked up at the Sephi. "To see you again, a pleasure it is, Master Sinvala." she greeted her with a friendly tone as she studied her. "Been, how have you?" she asked her calmly as she remained where she stood.

"Thank you Iris, Esira and Janto. You may leave." The three figures bowed to the white-robed Jedi Master, and left the courtyard one by one. They were all members of the Jedi Service Corps, non-Force sensitives who aided the Order in any way possible. These particular three were in charge of maintaining the decorative gardens in the Temple, and she was in charge of overseeing their shift. The shift that now came to an end.

She was actually grateful for a boring assignment like this. It finally gave her the time to wrap up the immense amount of paperwork that came with her transfer to Commenor. Once they were given the option to move to the big city, the Jedi Master had immediately jumped on it.

The holopad in her hands gave a familiar buzz that made her snap back to reality. 10:30, Lesson Yenna. Shoot. She had forgotten about the promise she had made to Cas. The Knight would be gone for a while, and had asked her to teach Yenna a trick or two in his stead. With the benefit of hindsight, accepting that request had been quite the mistake.

Before she could read up on it, however, the Padawan already entered.

Placing the holopad on one of the elevated stone slabs, Sakadi would turn to meet the little green woman. "Likewise." She would respond with a warm and kind smile. "I'm well, thank you for asking. The last few weeks have been a little busy, but nothing I can't handle. And you? How is your training progressing?" The Sephi was genuinely curious. The Master-Padawan pairing of the two had been a little odd, but she hadn't received any complaints so far.

Sakadi talked about her week but quickly turned the question back onto her. Yenna walked forward a little and hopped onto the stone slab beside Sakadi, wincing a little as her hand came up to her chest. "Good, I would say." she answered truthfully as she recomposed herself. "Bumping heads often, we were. But, figured it out, we seemed to have." she continued as she looked at Sakadi, almost at eye level. "Though, slowed significantly now, it has. Thanks to this." she admitted as she gestured to her side.

"As the doctors said, taking it easy, I have. But, still giving problems, my chest is." she explained to Sakadi as she looked back to her. "But! Ready for anything, I am, Master Sakadi. Doing today, what are we?" she asked her with a voice brimming with confidence. She was excited for the lessons, despite still being in pain. She hoped Sakadi wasn't planning anything too physical. "Admit, I must. For a while now, work with you, I wanted to." she quipped, that familiar glimmer returning as she looked up at Sakadi. It was a good thing they were alone for the most part, because Yenna had a bunch of questions...

Relief washed over the lady in white. Her curiosity had been based on the fear that, perhaps, she had made a vital mistake. Forced her former apprentice to do something he wasn't ready for. And in turn, ruining the life of the enthusiastic young Padawan.

Her lilac eyes shifted to the girl's chest at her remark. Had she suffered an injury during a mission? It worried her a little, for she knew that Cas had no experience with the Light Side's affinity for healing. Perhaps that would be a good start for the few training sessions they would be having until his return.

"Really? There's not much I have to offer compared to the other masters." She stated, dismissively waving the comment away with her hand. "Anyways, seeing as you're injured, this might be the right time to work on some healing techniques." After the many years she had spent in the Order, she knew how undervalued Force healing was in the field. Had either Cas or Yenna been proficient in some of the techniques, they could've helped each other out; perhaps even prevented outcomes like these. "What do you think? Is healing something you could make good use of?"

Yenna sighed as Sakadi dismissed her comment. She wasn't going to stop. "Have several platinum records, other masters do not." she quipped, flashing her a smirk. But Sakadi pressed on, commenting on her injuries and suggesting a lesson that genuinely piqued her interest. Her eyes widened as she listened to Sakadi's words. "Awesome, I think that is!" she exclaimed with a massive grin, but it quickly disappeared behind another wince.

"Very useful, I believe it can be." she explained further. "With what happened, come in handy, it would have." she continued as she walked a little closer to Sakadi. "So, start, how are we going to?" she asked her with a friendly tone before very carefully jumping off the stone slap and standing in front of her master for the day. She was anxious to learn. With everything that's been bothering her the past few weeks, she really needed something to help her think of something else. She reached into her pocket and took a sip of her flask before slipping it back into her pocket. She doubted that Sakadi had any clue of her issue. She would be surprised if she did.

"I think it would be best if you were taught how to heal yourself first." Sakadi began, folding her arms as she came up with possibilities. With her size came a form of frailty, one that meant that a single good hit was enough to take her out of a fight, or so the Sephi assumed. But if she could learn how to recover quicker...

"Are you familiar with any self-healing techniques Yenna? Please tell me what you know about them. The better I understand your current level of mastery, the better I can teach you. Her voice echoed. Never had she considered teaching Cas any healing techniques. Nor Mi'la, for that matter. And deep down, she know that it wasn't the kind of mistake she'd make a third time.

While it wasn't Yenna's expertise, the Jedi Master hoped that she was familiar with some rudimentary Curato Salva techniques. Perhaps she knew the basics of Control pain or Force Body. Of course, it was also possible that she knew absolutely nothing, and would have to learn from scratch. The truth was, Sakadi didn't know. She hadn't interacted enough with the young girl to know. But luckily she had a chance to do so now.

Yenna Yenna

Yenna gave a weak snicker at Sakadi's comment, looking herself over. "Appreciate that greatly, I will." she answered as she looked back up at the Sephi. She asked the little green padawan about her knowledge of force techniques, immediately earning a big smile from Yenna. "I am, actually!" she stated happily. "Very proficient in it, I am not. But, Curato Salva, I often use. In duels, for my form, I often use it." she explained to her, happy that she was actually already on the right track with what Sakadi had in mind for her.

She thought for a few more seconds, pulling her flask from her pocket for a small sip. "Though, about the rest, I know very little. Only Curato Salva I learned, thanks to the instructor. Only way to fight effectively, it was." she admitted as she took another sip before offering Sakadi the flask. The gesture lasted a whole two seconds before Yenna's eyes went wide and she put the flask away. "Sorry. About what happened, I forgot." she apologized with a guilty smile. She sighed, glancing around. "The amount of Jedi to share a drink with, one one hand, I can count with." she commented, glancing back at Sakadi. She wasn't holding Sakadi's past against her... she just needed some other drinking buddies for when Adrian wasn't around! Though perhaps offering that spot to a cleaned up alcoholic wasn't the best idea she had come up with...

She pushed her personal habits aside and glanced back to Sakadi, giving her a reassuring smile. "So, expand on it, how do we?" she asked her with optimism. "Also, never teach Cas this, why did you?" she asked out of curiosity. It was something she was legitimately surprised by when she heard that he never learned it.

"Good. It keeps you fit and full of energy. A perfect supportive technique for less peaceful encounters." The Jedi Master noted. The self-healing techniques taught under the umbrella term were a good start for any beginning healer. They had a more passive nature, one that made them incredibly useful, but less effective than the real deal.

The Sephi was halted by the offered flask when she wanted to project her telepathic voice again. She refused the offer with a pained smile and a raised hand. Drinking was something of the past. A past that would best be well forgotten. Although the excessive amounts of alcohol and other means weren't what had ended her career, were they? "It's fine... Don't mention it." The former soprano replied with a soft voice. The mention of spice or alcohol wasn't the problem, it was that the little green girl somehow managed to tie it to her past. But then again, her early life had been recorded from start to finish. Including the dozens of flings, disappearances, chases, parties and excessive credit spending; all of it was laid bare by the media. The dark side of the Queen of the Opera had been thoroughly explored, and arguably made her more famous than any other Thustran back in the day. But luckily, those days were over. Now everything was far behind her, the composed and responsible Jedi could tell how much of a mess she truly had made.

But it wasn't all bad. Several foundations carried the Sinvala name, and she had always been a well respected and liked guest on holonet shows. She even had done her best to make time for her fans individually, and tried to treat them as people; despite not fully knowing what that meant back in the day.

Sakadi snapped out of her thoughts once Yenna continued. "Ah.. Let's start with.. the basics. Yes! the basics." She raised her index finger as she spoke. "Number one. Control your emotions and feelings. Don't attempt to channel healing techniques if you're not in a sound state of mind. Acknowledge your fear. Your stress, anger or whatever pressure the situation may place on you. Acknowledge it, and move on." Mastery of one's emotions was one of the, if not the primary objective of a Jedi. They shouldn't be suppressed, but understood and accepted. A mistake many, including she herself, commonly made. "Healing is directing the flow of the Living Force through your body or someone else's. But your mindset is what controls the shape of the Living Force. Dark thoughts will translate to volatile and destructive energy, capable of wounding or harming your target. But focus and determination free of emotion will do great wonders." It was a lot of information to process, but important to understand nevertheless. Healing required more than concentration. It required a strong connection to the Force, and the right mind to guide it.

She was about to move on to the actual practice, when Yenna asked a strange but justified question. Why hadn't she taught it to Cas? "You know how he is. A great fighter through and through, but easily distracted by his emotions. He controls his blade, but not his feelings. I've been trying to stay out of his personal life, but I know there's more playing than he's willing to tell me." She admitted, her eyes settling on the green girl. Perhaps it was a mistake to tell Yenna, someone close to Cas, how she felt about it. But it would serve as a good test of her faith in the padawan.

Naturally, Sakadi refused her offer. But she sort of gazed off into the distance with a look in her eye that made Yenna stress. She really hoped that she didn't break her accidentally. "Master?" she muttered, stepping around to stand in front of her. She could feel the mix of emotions coming from her as the Sephi stood like a statue in front of her. Thankfully she quickly snapped out of it, looking back to her.

With a relived smile she listened to what Sakadi had to say. As she spoke, Yenna pulled her datapad from her pocket and started to type down notes for herself. Master Adrian had tried to teach her before, but it didn't stick with her at all. This time she was going to memorize every bit of it. "Dark thoughts bad. Got it. Luckily, pretty relaxed, I am." she quipped as she put her datapad away. However their little lesson took a bit of a turn when Sakadi commented on her not teaching Cas. She nodded in agreement as she looked at Sakadi, cwholly agreeing to what she was saying. "Not everyone's cup of tea, he is. A while, it took, for me and him to get along." she admitted with a chuckle. "Worry about him sometimes, I do. To keep an eye on him, I try. Know much about his personal life, I don't. But, taking it's toll on him, I think it is." she continued, looking at her feet then back to Sakadi. A confident smile appeared on her lips as she looked Sakadi in the eye. "But, worry, you don't have to! Looking after him, I am." she declared happily, getting a bit too excited as the pain returned to her chest.

She winced as she grabbed at her chest again, reminding herself to take it easy. "Continue with the lesson, shall we?" she asked with a pained smile. At this point she just wanted to figure it out so she could fix herself up. She hated having to be so careful with her movements. For the energetic and agile Jedi, having to move slowly and carefully with everything she did was becoming rather annoying.
