One of the men approached with Allyson’s message; it was a no. Brows furrowed and eyes closed. Disappointment laced with understanding. She had probably bombarded the Corellian with too much information too fast just like the SIS had told her quite specifically not to do. The rest of the tea was devoured in a quick chug and the cup was left at the table by her side for one of the servants to come pick up later. Kaili had other things in mind, other business to attend to. She had a company to run, right? Or rather, a collective of creators living off of her riches much like the people at the base of this very mountain did. A sigh burst through Kaili’s nose as she stepped into her room and took her seat by her desk. Hours came to pass before one of the cleaners came knocking on her door, brought forth a stained piece of cloth.
No, these were not just any stain, these were bloodstains. Kaili covered her mouth with her hand to hide her shock. The servant excused herself and Kaili would proceed to nod them off as the surprise began to set in. Was this what she had done? Elbows rested on the desk’s edge for a second before she dragged the hand across her face again and looked at the rag in her grasp. She dropped it against its polished surface and made a twirl towards the balcony. Fresh air would do her good, right? Worked every other time she felt this way in the last month, had it not?
Yeah, fresh air. That would help her with this.
One step onto the balcony and a quick look at the still moving boats. Why did she obsess about that?! Why was it that the movement of farking boats was all she could think to look for? Why was it that this entire world was so set on giving her this title she did not want? She needed an escape. Her eyes began darting from one place to the other before they set on the bottle by the balustrade edge. It was far from an ideal escape, but it worked for others, right? She was just like anyone else, she could...
Well, maybe she could too.
One hand grabbed one of the glasses, the other at the bottle. She moved the lip of the bottle towards the glass’ edge before it quickly retracted. Her grasp around the glass jerked towards over the edge of the balcony and let it go with a throw. The butt of the bottle poked at the second glass to tip it over the edge and as the sound of glass crushed against the rock below she gave the bottle a quick look and a chug.
The regret was instant. What was she doing? As far as escapism went this was just pathetic, even more so than she usually was. The bottle followed suit after the glasses, its shattering carcass falling on deaf ears as Kaili slumped into the pool of wine that had trailed behind her back, across her shoulder and chest and subsequently the ground below like purpur specks of regret. Silent tears poured as her back found itself leaning against one of the spindles in the balustrade.
Just fark everything. Every single thing. Micah, Allyson, the entire situation could just go fark itself. Just this once, right? Didn’t seem too much to ask for, but what did Kaili know about that? It seemed as far as happiness was concerned it was all she ever did in the end, even if it took four freaking years to get there.
So Kaili remained seated, her body eventually too weak to keep on for the night simply fell over and forced her to wallow in her own self-pity much as she always did until morning arrived.
The sound of a knock forced Kaili to wake up, the sound of a guard’s hurriedly shuffling feet was followed by her subsequently also being lifted from the ground to ensure she was okay. Kaili waved the man off with a cough and aching back, but he did not leave her alone. Instead he would lead her to the bed and only then would he leave her alone again. A hand moved up to rub at her sore neck and back.
“I’m fine.” Kaili waved him off in pain. “Just go. I am fine.”
He nodded his head and rushed back out of the door again. Kaili hoped that would be the end of it, but something told her that it wasn’t. Her back found the mattress and the memories therein. Shet. Like shot out of a cannon, the blonde stood and turned back to look at the bed. That thing was what had started everything. Where Kaili had farked up and said no.
A servant came in with a change of clothes and a message. Hazel was here. Lips thinned, nose scrunched and brows furrowed. Kaili didn’t need this. She really, really did not need this.
“Tell them I am in my room if they need anything.” Kaili groaned and grabbed the change of clothes. “And tell the doctor that I expect her to live up to what I told her in the Alliance hospital as well.”
Professionalism.
The servant left, and Kaili stepped into the refresher. The guards would at the time let Hazel in to see Allyson, one of the guards making quite the unsubtle move to stand guard inside the room. Special orders that fell on him, no matter how uncomfortable he’d feel about having to watch his second goddess get checked. His head shook. Screw that.
“I will be outside if you two need anything.” He said and stepped out again. What was Kaili going to do, fire him? He had other options available to him. “Forget that.”
