Hello! I'm Flames. . . Yeah. My friend (StoneGlory) showed me this place, and it seems like a fun community. It also seems a biiiiiiiiiit big... tiny bit. And so I'm confused on a few things.

1. For the whole "Factions" for your character. How does one join a faction? And what are some of the benefits/deficits to joining a bigger/smaller faction? Do you need a faction for your character to be aligned to a certain side of the force? (I'm assuming "no" on this last one, but just wanted to be safe.)

2. I read some posts on The Factory, and am wondering if you need to post a ship there if you want your character to have one.

Joining a faction is rather simple. Each one has a group page with their own forum.

Most non-canon ships don't need to be submitted to factory, although I suppose a factory judge might have more on that which you can ask here.

2. I read some posts on The Factory, and am wondering if you need to post a ship there if you want your character to have one.

Nothing "needs" a submission, especially if it is a canon ship (then you don't need to submit it at all), but if you're reported for flying around in an ultrachrome freighter with a proton beam cannon, you can expect to have to submit something at that point. If you need any pointers for a submission, if you decide to do a submission, or if you want one submitted for you on commission, let me know. You can also purchase a starship from the Marketplace in the factory rather than submitting your own.

The Factory and the Codex are how we regulate power in non-canon material. An original ship should be submitted for approval, especially if it has a bunch of special equipment. If you don't, you run the risk of being reported, and then you'll be required to submit it anyway. It's less hassle to just go ahead and submit your tech (or species or NPC mooks or planets or whatever) rather than get in trouble with staff and then have to submit them anyway.
