I'd like to know how do i know what rank am i in a faction? And also, are there any restrictions in items i can put in my character bio? Im about to create a sith apprentice, but don't know where to start.

That really depends on each faction. Most factions are pretty open, as long as you don't claim a leadership position. If you're looking at creating a Sith then [member="Darth Carnifex"] is the best person to talk to about that specifically in the Sith Empire.
As far as the items in your bio, most basic canon items are freely available. We also have the factory where we can make our own tech, and if you browse through the marketplace you can see what people have made and have for sale. (There is no money, it's just a way to ask permission to use it.)
