Hex Invasions

I've been lurking a lot and most factions that I've been peeking in on lack the umph to pull this off. Also if a faction can't get 8 unique writers to participate they forfeit, does that mean they lose the hex? There are a lot of factions as I see activity levels that will be easy targets of this. As a result several major factions will go minor, and all the map will be consolidated to the one or two factions that can muster the writers. Most major factions are barely attract interest in dominions as it is.

You can't take a faction's capital hex with this.

It can only occur once every 3 months per attacking faction.

Those two things guarantee it cannot be used indiscriminately to pick on a single faction.

The rules as they are would say Faction A can do an invasion on Faction B every three months, but If Faction A does an invasion what stops neighboring Faction C from doing so? The 8 writer brings fatigue and then Faction B has to forfeit because they can't muster and lose the hex without even getting to rp? I would offer that a faction should only have to defend a hex invasion every three months also... The rules don't protect the defender hmmm? Also I so see that a f

Just to be clear this doesn't change the fact I want to write here, but I just don't see this as practical to maintain active factions.

But all of that is possible already with regular invasions. If you're losing invasions from multiple sides it hardly matters if you're losing one planet or a whole hex. Fundamentally territory doesn't mean anything on this forum - it doesn't let you create bigger ships or armies based on size for instance.

Remember, the normal invasion rules specify 5 writers per side. Is the added 3 really such a burden? It's what a faction requires to become major (outside of rebellions) so it's hardly unfair to request they bring that many to a big invasion.

You could argue that that being attacked by multiple regular invasions is worse actually due to the fact that they're not limited by a 3 month limit.

However, we will of course closely monitor how these things go and alter things as needed.

I wish to counter what you said there. The fact there are weak major factions that will get pulverized by this. True, The Commonwealth is one such faction. While we're major we're very very weak. But that is where politics comes in, that is why you use politics. I've allied with every neighbor in my sector of space. I'm safe and stronger for it, despite how weak I may be individually.

If a faction that is weak does nothing about being weak, they ought to be doomed to die, it is how it would naturally play out.
