Hi, Mum. Long time no see! (Coryth)

"Yes...I believe Kaida suffices," the Angelii officer said stiffly, trying to maintain her prim and proper tone. This was...not what she'd expected. Unfortunately for her, Coryth's daughter could not resist the urge to troll her.

Elpsis had wanted to be good. Really. But her mother had given her the perfect opening. "Just girlfriends, huh? For now. Do you want to marry my mother, Kaida?" she asked, sounding completely innocent. Deep inside she was rolling with laughter. "She really likes you."

Kaida blinked. What had the girl just asked her? Was this a serious question? Or what humans called 'trolling'? "Uh...well," she stammered. She could not think of a single coherent sentence to say. The soldier wondered whether a fissure could open up in the ground and swallow her.

Coryth perhaps had underestimated her daughter and her urges to troll. "Just, girlfriends for now Elpsis." The tiny redhead replied as Elpsis spoke, pushing the subject further. "We've not talked about marriage or are anywhere near that, dear. Don't put Kaida on the spot. It's hardly fair." The tiny jedi gently entangled her fingers with Kaida's and squeezed the woman's hand gently.

Now, at least Coryth was trying to rescue Kaida from the uncomfortable questions of her teenage daughter. It by no means was guaranteed to work. "So, I was thinking we could do dinner. Or go back out to sea, just enjoy the quiet ocean for a while. If, of course, you have time, darling." Coryth wasn't the best cook. She was more like a make sandwiches kind of girl and call it good. Well, she could cook fish. That did come with the boat. One needed to know these things. Being able to fish, and cook them was an important task if you happened to be far out to sea.

Elpsis' probing made Kaida feel very uncomfortable. She was not used to being...probed like this. As a matter of fact, she was not used to children unless you counted Angelii recruits. These did not count in her estimation because what she had to do was break them and drill them! So her face was red like a tomato.

Elpsis made a good show of looking contrite. "Ok, sorry. I better be maid of honour though! And I'd like a little sister one day." Hey, she was toning the trolling down! Well, sort of. Couple weeks later she'd start dating Kaida's Dahomian lover.

Kaida managed to regain her composure, though her frosty look would take a while to return. "Don't get pushy. Your mother is getting used to having one child around. And I'd insist on sticking you with babysitting duties since Tempest tells me you have a thing for it," she retorted. Hey, two could play this game!

Fortunately, her girlfriend was there to extract her from this situation. "Yes, having a meal on the boat sounds good, love. It should be sunset then." Yes, even the frost elf had a slight romantic streak, even though her voice was not clogged with emotion.

"Cool. I'm very good at cooking," Elpsis interjected, having decided to stop trolling 'step-mum' for the moment.

"You can cook?" Surprise was evident in her tone.

The teenager looked rather smug. "Yeah, very well. Only useful thing the Jedi taught me. Other than using a glowstick."

Kaida was not the fastest sarix in the Angelii, but no fool, so she saw right through the girl. "You were put in the kitchen a lot for detention," she surmised.

"Yeah, but it still counts!"
