Lt. Colonel Caceres reveled in watching the scattergun hit with such ferocity it sent the scaleback bastard prone. "FORWARD!" He shouted he and his men on their end were clearing out machine gun emplacements. He pushed through a line with the sound of his scattergun finding purchase on the scales that dared to charge him. He could hear over the comms that the scales in other parts of the battle were digging in, he smirked - there was an answer to everything. A crackle over the comms told Caceres that not only were the Starfighters reporting ready to strike, but an all too familiar voice sounded.
:: This is Major Aetos, you bucketheads still alive? Army up with infantry and armor, would be an absolute shame if you boys and girls couldn't see this. ::
Per usual, the friendly elbow ribbing between the branches. The roar of AT-ATs and AT-STs could be heard just as the tanks began to push up from outside. The two prong planned slowly beginning to take shape, flames erupted from a few of the tanks scorching the scales where they stood. The rip of turbolasers as it impacted the scales- their hides so thick that blaster bolts scarcely scorched them. Turbolasers however were a different beast and tore through line after line.
:: Lt. Aronova with the 588th! Tell us where you need to go! ::
:: This is Capt. Ramos with the 201st! Reporting in! ::
Starfighter Corps reported in bombs ready to go, their escorts placing punishment on their foes. On this day, the First Order would unleash years worth of vengeance upon their enemy. While there would be shouts such as 'for the Supreme Leader' there would be other shouts, FOR AVALONIA! REMEMBER VICTORIA! A thunder of arms, come hell or highwater they would be tenacious invoking the spirits of Imperials past.
Meanwhile within the Mountains Bannock the Imperials who had been pinned down for years began to see some manner of relief as the Ssi-Ruuvi turned to engage the First Order. They decided to take their chance and with their vibropikes at the ready, makeshift arms and weapons they began to surge forward to push the scales out of the mountains.
:: Guid tae see ye aboot bloody time ye shawed up! Let us murdurr th' bastards! ::
That is exactly what Colonel Ngao would get as a heavy accented Imperial managed to find the First Order's channel.

OBJECTIVE: Provide relief/backup to Vakim Duval Vakim Duval

Matma had temporarily separated from Varick Lechner Varick Lechner ; Vakim Duval Vakim Duval had requested assistance over the comms, to destroy an AA emplacement. As they triangulated his location, he heard the unmistakeable roar of the Starfighter Corps- and their accompanying heavy ordinance. The sky momentarily brightened as explosions ripped the ranks of the Ssi-Ruuk- already being pummeled by the AT-AT and AT-STs. Then, the Imperials in Mount Bannock, under siege, began surging forward.

And that's where they came in.

Matma, and a squad of stormtroopers, dropped out of sky, using jetpacks to slow their descents as they aimed at the lizards currently firing on Duval and Colonel Ngao's position.

"On my mark...MARK!"

Immediately, the troopers began peppering the Ssi-Ruuk with slugthrower rounds, causing them to look up in confusion...and be cut down by the First Imperials who had been advancing on the AA emplacement. Then, they heard the tell-tale sound of a snap-hiss, and then things got real chaotic.

Bernu landed, and immediately took the head of a lizard man. As the stormtroopers laid on heavy fire, he made himself a target- dancing, moving fluidly through the battle lines, dodging and turning fire back toward the Ssi-Ruuk, being careful not to let them box him in. The lightsaber became an indecipherable bar of green- the lizards that saw, often had it be the last thing he saw. The goal was to give both relief and wreak havoc among the lizards, giving the First Imperials the opportunity to advance.

He paused to comm Duval and Ngao's squad. "This is First Imperial Knight Matma Bernu- we heard your call, and decided to join the party. Now, how you all propose we get to that emplacement?"

Vakim Duval and his men were in it now, using the Ssi-Ruu's own fortifications as theirs they were now taking cover from within 50 meters of the Anti Air Emplacements. The sustained fire they were laying down was forcing almost the entirety of the force to turn to face his Platoon. Quickly the fire being put down on them was beginning to get overwhelming and the Platoon was beginning to take heavy casualties.

Where are the heavy weapons. He barely had time to think it when the nearest Anti-Air emplacement to him exploded from a Rocket Propelled Grenade charge launched from an obscene distance. A damn good shot. As the ground shook from the destruction Vakim received a signal from the 4th Squad that they had reached sight distance of the Anti-Air fortifications from the South and were preparing to assault the position.

Vakim looked to his men around him. He knew that now the battlefield had reached max chaos. The fire around him and his squad was incredible as now they began to hear the rumble of their heavy armor close in on the city. The Army was here. About damn time. Still he knew these Anti-Air and heavy weapon emplacements could as easily be turned on the walkers that the First Order was bringing to bear as they could be used on the TIEs. It now came to Vakim to do something about it.

"Stormtroopers, would you live forever?"

Vakim in a one eloquent and sudden movement leapt from the cover and charged the dug in Ssi-Ruu as the Ssi-Ruu themselves rushed to meet the charging stormtroopers, Vakim and his men had to reach the trench line before the majority of the enemies or it would be a suicide run. Then it happened.

Matma Bernu Matma Bernu and his own detachment of stormtroopers arrived over head of Vakim and his boys. Scattering the charging Ssi-Ruu roughly at the same time the men of the 4th Squad who had begun their own assault from the South began firing heavy suppressing fire into the flank of the Ssi-Ruu facing Lt. Duval and his advancing men. The scattering and the flanking maneuver bought them plenty of time and they now had seized the advanced trench of the enemy. From here they began to lay down heavy fire. Duval would light signal flares around his position before hitting his commlink.

"Colonel Omari Ngao Omari Ngao we have taken the advanced trench at the Anti-Air Emplacement. We have dispatched signal flares on our location. We are in heavy cover. Advising danger close air support strike. I repeat advising danger close strike."

Duval would then turn his attention to the Imperial Knight who had brought in opportune assistance as well as his joining 4th squad. Yelling through his comm with urgency.

"Take cover in the trench line Air Support is incoming. Danger Close. Danger Close." Matma Bernu Matma Bernu

"These are galactic credits," Isobel insisted, once again thrusting a small collection of chits at the Sky'tiri speeder merchant. "I assure you they are proper legal tender. The only other thing I have is Sovereigns -- First Order currency." She dug into her pockets for these and held them out to the merchant, who examined the chits in one hand versus the chits in the other. After a few moments, he selected the galactic standard credits and thrust two ancient key fobs at Isobel in return.

"Here," he said as she closed her hands around the rest of her money, which she slipped into her pocket. "Around the back."

"Two?" asked Isobel. "I said I needed three."

"Only got two," said the Sky'tiri. "Around the back."

Isobel stared at the creature for a few minutes more, then heaved a sigh and followed his instructions. Around the back were a pair of well-worn landspeeders that looked like they hadn't so much survived as endured the last Ssi-Ruuk invasion but the one before that, too, and not well. The seats were tattered and missing stuffing in some places, and they looked more rust than metal, but when she activated the repulsors they both hovered off the ground.

She led them back through the city to her partners, Aurelian Dash and The Major The Major . "He only had two," she said to preemptively ward off any complaints. "And given how rickety they are, I think you and I should take this one and Dash can take that one," she said, indicating one, then the other. Isobel threw her leg over the machine and settled into what was left of the saddle. "I'm driving," she said flatly.

When all had settled in, the pair of speeders zoomed off, if one considered a sputtering hesitant chugging a zoom.

The insanity of the battlefield reminded him of his time as a Black Ops Operative working for combined unit of Special Warfare Command in the zenith of the First Order. Eriadu, hadn't been as chaotic as Skye was. "Come on!" He calls out, pointing up to a structure deeper into the city, only a few dozen metres away from the anti-air emplacement that he had already destroyed with the RPG.

Within a minute of that emplacement being destroyed, he heard the reports of the fighter squadrons being freed up. The skies had been cleared enough to allow them through. He would oblige them with targets.

There were other emplacements of varying sizes targeting their advancing forces.

"Lieutenant Aronova, I am providing necessary targets now." The stormtrooper was suddenly receiving multiple comms at once - all directed at him. He'd sort through them, but from the sound of it Vakim Duval Vakim Duval was still alive. He'd delegate and allow him to direct the First Imperial Knight as was necessary. "Targets up." Primarily clusters of rapidly turning vehicles meant to meet the First Order host that was engaging them, there was a short window of time before the Ssi-Ruuvi would re-deploy their forces to fully engage them.

The Colonel had faith the Imperial pilots could handle it.

"Stand by and keep your heads down."

He'd reply to the Lieutenant, "Captain Ramos. You get that? Bomb the feth out of these Scalebacks approximately," he paused, and he delivered the exact coordinates. Some two hundred meters away from Vakim's immediate area, but directly upon the rapidly approaching Ssi-Ruuvi forces that even he could see from his vantage in the building his squad had occupied.

They were in the blast zone too, but closer to the edges of it. Omari was certain that Imperial pilots had the ability to not miss with such a wide margin of grace given to them

Local Dive
"Wayfar" Outland Trade Post

Of course, leave it Aurelian. He'd already managed to find the local dive, colorful bottles lined the shelves behind the outdoor bar. A few what he presumed to be locals cradled drinks in mugs, a few others seated at a table - and Aurelian had indulged as they waited Lotus' return with the speeders. That's funny, could have sworn there were three of us, he mused as Isobel trailed two speeders behind her. Approaching, she informed them of their brief dilemma, Aurelian rolling his eyes in an amused manner. "We'll make do." He nodded at her suggestion.

Upon mounting the speeder he noted its well worn control surfaces and haphazard wiring. A veritable death trap. he mused. Of course this wouldn't have been the first time he'd ridden on a speeder bike of questionable structural integrity. With a lurch and a sputter, the trio took off towards their destination. The terrain would be easy for the most part, highland terrain and crags, bluffs and wide canyons. There would be a decent amount of tree cover up to the foothills but once they hit rock they were gonna be in for some tight maneuvering.

-

Having taken the lead early on, Aurelian slowed to a halt at the edge of a small outcropping. A brief glance at his datapad showed they'd nearly arrived - just around the next mountaintop would be the primary gate of the old Ren academy. So far they'd seen paltry few S'kytri, a fact that both relieved and concerned the veteran agent. It either meant they hadn't taken up roost here, or there was something far more deadly - or, he supposed, they were particularly reclusive. Touching the grip of his blaster he put away the datapad and looked over his shoulder as the others pulled up beside. "Right around here, not more than a few hundred meters. Rest of the way on foot if we wanna stay incognito." With a flick of a switch Aurelian killed the engine and shifted the speederbike into a small cut in the rock. It wouldn't hide the bike but it would at least help it blend in a little at a glance.

Kurayami had found that there were some Stormtroopers making their way to the AA emplacements, he turned to go provide some air support to them and clear out some scalebacks while he was able to. If he ran into any Ssi-Ruuvi aerial opposition he would bring them along for the ride to see if he could pull them into the path of AA fire. As he banked to the right, changing his heading slightly to begin navigating towards the first AAA marker things were still relatively quiet which raised a few red flags, so he made sure to stay more alert as he approached the first AAA gun that he had seen...no troopers around this one yet. Oh well, time to go to work.

He edged the fighter gently into a dive waiting until he was close to activate the Phantom 4x jamming suite. As soon as it was reporting that it was fully online, he opened up with a withering barrage of fire, agrocite-enhanced bolts filled the sky with the smell of burning Ssi-Ruuk corpses, ozone, and the smell of feshly exploded ordnance. It was times like these that Kurayami was thankful that his ship had air filtration. While he still had a few more ground emplacements to deal with to be able to grant him a slightly less suicidal approach to the main gun he couldn't help but grin under his helmet. This was when the Corellian felt truly alive. Blaster bolts flying past, mere inches from his fighter, hearing the flak explode near his craft, the shockwaves shaking the small fighter as they did so. He was born to do this, and there was a reason many of his ships were named as they were. He was seeming devoid of emotion when in battle, you couldn't afford to feel for your enemy. They were nothing but targets to him. His allies he would risk everything to help, though it had nearly gotten him killed more times than he could count. One of those times had awarded him first-class bloodstripes, in a similar situation as he found himself in now.

As he was lining up on the third weapons emplacement his RWR lit up. "Kriffing hell, incoming missile. Lets see how well this little trick works..." He pushed a small switch forward that sat on the front of the throttle, beneath his middle finger. This activated the IFF scrambler which in concert with the 4x jamming suite should throw the missile off course enough that he could get out of its path. He eased th craft into a nose up attitude, slowly adding down-right input on the stick and left rudder, pushing the ship into a spiraling upwards climb. He would allow this to continue, as he kept a close eye on how close the missile was. As it started to approach terminal phase, he let off all input, returning the stick to neutral and kicking the rudder hard left into a hammerhead turn. He was hurtling towards the ground at an incredible rate of speed, pulling back hard and suddenly, he rocketed back upwards and laughed a moment as the missile impacted the epmlacment behind a few scalebacks he had just vaped.

Lieutenant Aronova and Captain Ramos led their squadrons through the air. TIE Bombers and their escorts screamed overhead of Colonel Omari Ngao Omari Ngao , and the men and women who fought the Scaleback bastards.
:: Copy that, Colonel, keep your heads down. 588th ready up on the payload, givin' these scales a wonderful Witchy hello. Aronova out. ::
:: Ten-four, Eagles in with the follow up. The 201st sends their regards. Ramos out ::
Not to be outdone, the First Imperial Army machines shook the ground as their AT-ATs and AT-STs made their appearence. The pincer manuever was starting to show its worth. Artillery pierced the air like the heavy drums of a war, the wicked sight of turbolasers punching through the larger scales. Bright crimson hues raced across the sky, the lightly armored men and women of the First Imperial Army could be heard shouting their orders loud and strong. Artillery once more whistled by and landed with beautiful Imperial precision.
Bombs from the 588th and 201st also made their mark. They impacted with such ferocity they felt like the clash of cymbals within the orchestra of a dramatic overture.
Lt. Colonel Caceres could see the entrance of the Bannock Mountains.
:: Yellow Squadron this is Lt. Colonel Caceres, we need cover! Get that smoke over the entrance! ::
The men and women of the First Order's Stormtrooper Corps were paying a hefty price in the name of freedom, in the name of liberation so that those who had been trapped by the Ssi-Ruuvi could find room to breathe. So that once more Skye could join the First Order and add to the empire's power.
:: Caceres to Ngao, we're reaching the entrance of the Mountains. I've called for cover, ready to charge on your orders. ::

"Take cover in the trench line Air Support is incoming. Danger Close. Danger Close."

Matma didn't need to be told twice. He signaled to the troopers and began running to the trench. Vaguely, he could have sworn he heard the howl of the incoming TIE Bombers.

They ran, pumping their legs, through the chaos and death of war. Matma led the way, cutting through whomever was in the way. He could feel the men around him winking out, cut down. Still they preserved.

"Almost there", he breathed, as they tumbled into the trench headfirst, relieved to have made it through the treacherous campaign.

Near the former Ren Academy, Ridgeline Pass

Ciara had been tasked covertly, an unusual occurrence for the Bureau. More often than not agents operating in the same area were warned ahead of time about friendlies or adjacent operations so as not to interfere - this time there must have been a communications failure. Of course, the Archaeologist/Agent didn't know the trio that had come roaring up the pass were other agents, they could have been grave robbers or any other cadre of ill repute. Thankfully, they hadn't seemed to be particularly wary of what was above them. Instead, they focused on their path to the top. Once Ciara had thought for sure they'd seen her, just managing to duck down below a crag before they were again on the move. Their next leg had given her the chance to stash her own speeder bike and set up what by all appearances was little more than an amateur's archeological dig camp near the main courtyard of the former Ren facility.

As their engines cut off Ciara nimbly trotted towards the entrance, peeking out from beside where a powered main gate rest slantways on its track. She'd taken her own notes on that already, it appeared the facility was abandoned however if she knew anything about the Ren it was that they protected their secrets with a dark vengeance - there would undoubtedly be traps. "Hello?" she shouted. "Who's there? I saw you coming up the pass!" As she peeked out a little farther the subtle weight of the blaster pistol tucked in the small of her back became suddenly apparent. Well. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. she mused.

By the time he could hear the whine of the TIEs closing in on the targets that he had provided, his unit was dashing through the buildings, furthering the distance as much as they could while staying on objective to the mountain.

The ground rumbled, the explosions reached up to the skies, as if they yearned to touch the TIEs that delivered the payloads to the Ssi-Ruuvi.

A wave of dust rolled over his unit and they took cover in what looked to be a ransacked shop. As he began raising up, he heard the familiar voice of Caceres.

"Go now! Strike while they are in disarray!"

His voice boomed over the comms to the Lieutenant Colonel - but not just to him and his men, but to the rest of the armed forces on Skye. This was their chance, destroy them before they could get their wits back.

"Looks like the engineers are making more progress." She gestured toward the teams across the way. Elisea guided her girlfriend to a small table in the shade, "here we are." A small cup of Melioorun Juice, "we're getting more brought in and we've set up temporary housing here and here." She gestured toward the camps of tiny houses where people were being sent to whilst the First Order got to work.
"Nerf sausages, flatbread from Sundiata which was really sweet all things considered," since Sundiata while looking better than before, was still recovering from the earthquakes. "There's rice from Seoul there, and they sent a lot of vegetables, and then Victorian Cheddar Cheese, so we are getting donations from around the First Order."
"These guys were running on Nuna Turkey Jerky and dry bread for months."
"What about you? You feeling okay?" She knew from conversations with Nylea that using the Force often took a lot of them. A project like this would likely take a lot of power. "I heard there would be a few knights this way, so hopefully that will help."
It would at the very least speed up the process of getting water to run through the region once more. The dried out loch looked like a softened crater from this vantage point on the hill.

The deafening whir of TIE fighters and bombers coming in low was quite something for even a veteran Stormtrooper to experience. Experiencing it as close as 100 meters from the drop zone was something else entirely. Vakim motioned dramatically to tell his troopers to get their heads below the trenchline. They were experienced enough and the sounds were deafening enough that most didn't need to even see the motioning of their commander. Most of his Stormtroopers were flat on their stomachs hands covering the ports that lead to their ears through their helmets.

This sound was nothing compared to what came next. The very ground beneath them seemed to scream as proton torpedoes and concussion bombs from the TIE bombers began to impact the ground very close to their positions. The laser cannons of the TIE fighters would scream down with rugged precision as TIE fighters and interceptors smashed into extreme dives. The battle was at an extreme level of intensity as armor and artillery from the First Order Army started to also have its effect on enemy positions. The 12th Platoon began to recover as the torpedo and bomb explosions started to lessen. Just now was the scream of constant laser cannons. Lt. Vakim Duval would get up and issue an order over his commlink just to his men.

"We are going to advance now. Show no mercy to the scale backed bastards. Remember the lives they devoured as they took our systems. Now is the time. Get your revenge. No Mercy. For the Order."

Duval's men would let out a battle cry as they charged from their positions, They would follow their Lieutenant forward, driving a clear wedge in the Ssi-Ruu lines, splitting their forces between those in the North City that were attacking the Mountains, and those in the South who had been sent to reinforce the rear lines. Duval and his men if they could reach the far side and signal more air support would have turned the Ssi-Ruu reinforcement move into a death trap and he intended to do it.

"Colonel Omari Ngao Omari Ngao see if you can signal the Fighter Squadrons to watch our flanks. We are gonna direct assault the City Center and try to push through to the North to complete the splitting of the enemy forces. We could use all the cover we could get. The Ssi-Ruu will recover from the initial shock and awe eventually."

For now the Ssi-Ruu were in total disarray and Duval and his men would be ruthless in their assault. Shooting at fleeing and wounded Ssi-Ruu to ensure that they could not recover they would target specifically officers and Ssi-Ruu medics. Pushing the chaos of the battlefield further and further onto their opponents, and making it harder for them to counter his platoon.

Two bikes! Working with these people was becoming more wildly disorganized from moment to moment. Now it was starting to make sense why these two associates were so crabby: setbacks abound. Even so, the operators didn’t seem to miss a beat. They decisively continued in a commendable, though terse, fashion.

The Major was about to volunteer to return to the ship and stand guard, since she felt she was a bit too tall and heavy a burden to add on a… vintage speeder bike. Agent Nakano cut off no small measure of the tension by confidently volunteering to ferry them both. Did she know of her cooperator’s lack of ability? Guessed thanks to that protestation earlier? It hardly mattered once they were under way.

At first she attempted to hold onto the handles built into the speeder for a second rider. It seemed like the best way to maintain some measure of professionalism. Once they were moving quickly any sense of decorum was lost to some innate, previously unspoken fear. The Major had enough sense to know to lean into turns to help keep a smooth center of gravity. As the path grew more treacherous she felt herself falling off. In response she grasped onto Agent Nakano, wrapping her arms around the driver’s waist, gripping tightly whenever the bike started to lurch or threaten to fail.

Disembarking was a great relief, but the shame of being so frightened caused the auburn headed woman to burn red for a time. Initially she wanted to apologize for the bother, but the earlier lesson about unnecessary comments was still fresh in her mind. It wouldn’t help their situation or their mission. Orienting themselves was a short affair, but then they were accosted suddenly.

"Who's there? I saw you coming up the pass!" Exclaimed an interloper.

Perhaps the Major was a little upset at herself, so she moved ahead of the other two agents in the direction of the threat, positioning in such a way as to be in the way of oncoming harassment.

“‘Who’s there?’” She mocked, voice twisted in derision before responding a little more properly. Apparently the lesson wasn't so deeply entrenched.

“We three. What’s it to you?” Technically it was a mite more proper.

The First Order had just kicked off the fireworks.

Never mind the dirt flying in the air. Chunks of road. Parts of buildings. Hell, a street sign landed about a meter from where the young stormtrooper had taken cover, a twisted piece of metal that was barely legible as it smoldered there on the ground.

It was a lovely day for a stroll down...

...whatever street this was.

In whatever city this was. Had that been in the briefing? Had he been paying attention during the briefing? Probably no. Whatever. Vakim Duval Vakim Duval seemed to be having his platoon pushing into the city center. That put Three's squad covering the right flank.

Doc ran up another pack of ammo for the rotary cannon. It felt like they'd been at this for hours, and the AT-ATs and AT-STs were already starting to catch up with the infantry line. They weren't just dug in at this point, they were ready to start forcing the lizards out.

Slinging on the new backpack and chambering the feed ribbon, the teen stood back up and walked out with the rotary cannon at the ready. With the shock and awe campaign that had just dropped, it'd be a couple of minutes for the lizard-heads reorganized from that.

A few lizard heads were popping up here or there, but his squad mates were taking those out with their slugthrower rifles. Until they encountered something more solid in terms of resistance, Three just casually cycled the cannon periodically to keep it energized.

The city's name had been in the briefing, it was the proud city of Brus. What remained of its inhabitants and Stormtroopers had held out in the Bannock mountains, the same mountains that Lt. Colonel Caceres was ordered to enter. The entrance to the mountains had been through a cave that had been carved out into an expansive tunnel system after the assault on Skye back in the early 850s. The assault occurred at the same time as the first Siege of Dosuun.
:: Copy, we are in - setting down flares. Engaging hostiles! ::
Caceres replied to Omari Ngao Omari Ngao over comms, as his scatter gun pushed several scales back. He and his men flooded through the tunnels lighting the way for the others to follow. As Caceres rounded through the tunnels he swore he could hear music. "Bagpipes?" He turned to his lieutenant and the young man, Cho. Only shrugged. He supposed if he had been left to these tunnels he might go a bit mad himself.
"Aboot time ye git 'ere!"
A shout over the bagpipes, a large man with red hair shouted as his vibrosword cleaved through a scaleback. "Ye bastards sure did tak' yer time."
Caceres had to side step out of the way, the vibrosword was huge. "What the hell is that thing?!"
"Och this? this is ma sword!" The man was tall as ever, with broad shoulders and Caceres had to wonder if the man was wearing a skirt. "A bloody pure massive sword, noo step awa'!" Rather it was simply the torn up body glove that used to lay underneath the armor. Stormtrooper armor that as Caceres could see laid discarded and in pieces. He did however step out of the way as the man swung the broad sword into another scaleback. The Lt. Colonel let his scatter gun speak for him and all he heard was laughter from the man beside him.
Then there was more, more like this man, not so much with the red hair but definitely the pocket of Stormtroopers that had been left to defend the town. They were a crazy bunch, halberds, pikes, all of which found their purchase.
Outside, the city of Brus looked more like rubble than a city as the Army pushed its way from the outside. Massive vehicles repaying the Ssi-Ruu for their attacks through the First Order's realm. "ONWARD FOR LAURENTIA!" Shouted several units in unison as their vibrobayonets pierced through the thick hides of the scaleback bastards. The pincer move was just about complete and the Ssi-Ruu were finding themselves well out of numbers, outgunned and outmanned their numbers continued to dwindle. A call for a strafing run went out to yellow squadron, they needed at least one more to finish the move altogether.

There were Ssi-Ruuvi stragglers making the Engineer's task of properly surveying the blockage difficult. This had thus far prevented them from effectively being able to survey the blockage and testing the methods their initial research had said might be useful. Firenne frowned, standing beside the Knight-Commander, head tilted to the side as her eyes flickered to their Lupine color and shape. They'd managed to escort the crew up to the main blockage and realized it was partially blocked due to a cascade of boulders from the initial attacks, and then completely stopped by further intentional damage by charges set into the nearby cliff remnants.
While the engineers toiled with their crew offering any assistance they could, Firenne's fists had clenched tightly closed at the small of her back. Marionne lofted a brow at her and Fi found herself breathing deeply and centering before forming a response to the unspoken query. "This was intentional. The charges the Ssi-Ruuvi placed were shaped to bring the rock down and completely cut off the water supply."
"I can see that. Once the engineers have finished their initial examination, we'll know how to begin removing the blockage."
The young Sentinel nodded, glancing from the engineering crew out toward what remained of the nearby forested slopes. "That will take them some time yet, as I understand it. I'll take a quick detour along the patrol routes to check in on our soldiers and work off some of this energy." she replied, deference in her voice as she turned to face Marionne.
The Knight-Commander nodded her assent and Firenne shifted instantly into her Lupine form, dark fur rippling in the sunlight as she shook herself for a moment. The engineers, most of whom she was personally familiar with, simply went about their business, but the locals on the crew bore looks of shock and even some of fear. Until of course, Fi inevitably did what she always did, and stumbled as she tried to stride away majestically. Offering a Lupine grin even as she hung her head for a moment, it seemed to put them mostly at ease, and she was soon racing off towards the first of three patrol routes.
Around her neck was a silver chain with the crest of the Imperial Knights suspended from it, something she wore to make her form easily identifiable to the troopers, most of whom hadn't seen a Lupine before herself and Imperial Knight Varick Lechner began to regularly train beside them when time permitted. The first patrol saw her coming and waved her on, telling her it was clear in the area they'd been assigned. She barked softly as she passed them, prancing a bit and managing not to stumble this time.
The second patrol she found in equally good spirits, their attentiveness a credit as the first unit's had been, as they spotted her coming before she reached them. Firenne made a mental note to commend them both to the Knight-Commander and to their own superiors. This time she paused and accepted a headpat from the grizzled veteran leading the group, a human from Varick's home world of Stewjon who had made his own choice to leave and came to the First Order. Varick spoke highly of him and everything he'd learned under his command, so he'd been added immediately to Firenne's 'pack' of acquaintances.
The third patrol, however, was a different story. She found no sign of them along the path she'd been told they were supposed to be on, and she paused at what remained of their footprints in the ground beside the treeline. The young woman made use of her Lupine abilities, taking the time to track their scents. They seemed to follow a trail of peculiar drag marks deeper into the trees and it concerned her greatly that something they saw or heard was deemed critical enough to pull them off of their route.
Ears twitched as she heard the fighting before she could see it, given the dense standing trees and thick brush. Firenne stalk forward with haste until she found the unit's commander, who gave her a look of relief and motioned for her to circle around as they pressed the attack on the Ssi-Ruuvi band from the front. Her head dipped in assent as she did what she was asked, springing into back of the group as the troopers converged from the front. It wasn't long before they had made short work of the lizardfolk, and she returned to her armored human form to share the reports of the other two patrols.
The troopers had some minor injuries from the skirmish, which they accepted her assistance with when offered, considering it would be some time before they could be seen by the medical corps.
"Blockage been surveyed yet?"
"They were just getting the last of it done when I came to check in with the patrols. By the time I get back, they'll hopefully be done and we can take it down as safely as possible." she replied, standing at something resembling attention, though her hands were clasped behind her back.
"Back to work then, Sentinel. We'll catch up with you later."
Firenne smiled and nodded, shifting back into her Lupine form once more and bounding her way out of the forest and adding the Force to her steps to guide her back to Marionne's side with a much more calm and settled mind.
"All is well, I trust?"
She returned to her human form and handed Marionne the flimsis with the patrol reports, plucking the cylinder off of the chain around her neck. "First two patrols were all clear. Third patrol found a small band of Ssi-Ruuvi they had well in hand, so I gave them a hand as requested..." she began, offering the Knight-Commander a detailed verbal report which included a commendation of each unit and their commanders.
"Excellent. We should be ready to begin dismantling the blockage shortly. Just waiting on the final calculations from the engineers which they should have any moment now."

Kurayami perked up as he got a message pinged directly to him from one of the higher ups. Usually they just left him to do his thing if it was to do with the starfighter/ air support role. This was a specific request to provide a strafing run in a city a bit of a ways out from his current position, but this was exactly the reason that he had built this craft with exceptional speed. He sent back a reply in the affirmative and firewalled the throttle reveling in the feeling of being pushed back into his seat as the inertial compensators caught up with the sudden acceleration. WHile not the distinctive whine of twin ion engines, the severely upgraded Sossen-7's made a rather nice screech at full power. It didn't take but a minute to reach the area marked for the strafing run.

Pulling back on the throttle, Kurayami started a racetrack pattern CAP to check for targets and get a sense of where the friendlies were it certainly wouldn't do for him to start shooting the wrong soldiers after all. As he completed the first time around, the IFF pings from the ground units finished appearing. Once he had an idea of where everyone was, he broke from the racetrack pattern and appeared to be heading away from the engagement zone. The scales would not be so lucky this day though as he rolled the ship inverted and pulled into a split-s. watching his altimeter slowly pulling back further on the stick to tighten the curve, he opened with a quick burst as soon as the pip for the gunsight was just past the friendly ground units. Granted, the bolts would be only a few tens of meters in front of the soldiers, but it would clear a bit of space for them at least.

He took a moment to gain altitude and set up for another pass. Banking to the left he set himself up to cross the last area at a 45 degree offset. Nosing over, he opened up with a sustained barrage this time, letting up on the trigger just in front of the nearby trench. Hopefully they would be able to handle the rest.

When Isobel finally kicked off the speeder bike and it didn't so much settle to the ground as it landed with a thud, lurching forward onto its supports violently. The young Atrisian waited for The Major The Major to disengage herself from her midsection. When she did, Isobel hauled herself off the bike and, carefully adjusting her jacket, she drew her blaster and fell into step behind Aurelian Dash and Shepard.

When the other woman made her snide answer to the inquiry from the structure, Isobel glanced across to Dash and quirked an elegantly manicured brow. The young woman moved closer, mounting the hill towards the entrance to the complex where the gate was off its track. Isobel frowned and lifted a hand, raising her voice to match. "First Order operatives. Identify yourself and come out with your hands raised, please."

Isobel held her blaster pointed downwards, but brandished. The message: I don't want to hurt you, but I will if you make me. "We're on official operations here," Isobel called out to Ciara Lockley. "State your business at once."

"How's the coffee?" Black Two asked as he passed DK. Black Leader was leaning against the door jamb to the pilot ready room, a cup of steaming java in his hand. "Looks like the pot they put on this morning."

"I think it is," DK replied. "It's hot. That's about all I can say about it."

The coffee was stale but hot and strong. Drinking it hurt his mouth and made him feel like he didn't need a nap, but it did make him want to brush his teeth. Black Two swirled the contents of the pot around inside it, then shrugged and poured it into a mug. "Little bourbon would go a long way right about now," said Black Two.

"As your commanding officer, I didn't hear that," said DK, moving into the room to make way for the briefing officer to enter the room. In so doing he moved closer to Two and muttered, "But as your friend, I couldn't agree more. C'mon, let's get settled." He went to the front of the room and sat down for the briefing.

"Black Squadron," the briefing officer began. "We are currently en route to the Skye system. We've had sensor readings of Ssi-Ruuk Imperium forces launching from a moon base on the opposite side of the planet from our current operations." The map display flickered to life and showed the trajectory. "We can't afford to pull forces away from their current actions, so Black Squadron has been activated. Your primary mission is to prevent these forces from interfering with First Order operations on Syke. Your secondary mission is to gather sensor data to determine whether the Scales have any infrastructure on the moons. We know they tried to experiment on entechment of the Sky'tiri but haven't found the facilities onworld, so it's possible they are elsewhere in the system. Any questions?"

DK glanced over his shoulder at his other pilots. Nobody spoke. DK cleared his throat. "No ma'am. We'll prepare. How soon to reversion?"

"Ten minutes, Black Leader. Check in with the deck officer on what craft you'll want to use."
