Hoping For A Brighter Future

Veiere studied [member="Samka Derith"] closely as she spoke of her memories, invading Jedi forces alongside that of the Galactic Alliance. It was true that many Jedi supported the Galactic Alliance. In the last Schism of the Jedi Order there had become three major sects that had split and gone off into different paths. The Silver Sanctum Coalition now known as the Silver Jedi Order; the Jedi Order of the Galactic Republic and then the Jedi Academy and those that stood with the G.A. It was a shame in Veiere's mind, had they all been strong, unified then the lines that they once followed, the restraint and Code of the old Order that was so important to them once upon a time, wouldn't have become so blurred and easily crossed. He had tried to call them all together, formed a new Conclave and tried to show them back to their old way and that was now why no other Jedi followed him today; much fonder of an easier life where they could follow their own pursuits, teach whomever they wished and invited all manner of members into the Order no matter their alignment to the Force; than it was to follow the old way as Veiere did.

It was true, his emotions were a little easier to come by and his attachment to [member="Lady Kay"] was only ever growing. Back in the day he would have shown more restraint and self-control, spent days meditating to center himself and distance himself from any possible sway over his future acts; yet he wasn't with the Order any longer. He was a Knight of Commenor.

"The Jedi you see today are not like those that I once served alongside" He replied to Samka though only so that she could possibly find a way to try and see him in a different light than those that had scarred her in the past; "All people come into the galaxy with the right to live their lives, I only wish now to keep the peace as best that we are able. Commenor certainly has a great deal of potential in enabling various governing bodies to communicate with one another in civility and we are thankful for the support of The First Order. As you can imagine, attempting something like we are does not come without its risks".

Nodding at [member="Veiere Arenais"], all she could afford to say further on the Jedi Order was a simple, "We'll see." If Veiere's vision of the Jedi was so different to what she'd been exposed to, he would have to prove it through actions, not words.

But [member="Lady Kay"]'s remark about a mock battle earned a giggle. A genuine girlish giggle and one of the very few in recent memory that wasn't faked. "The First Order would only take part in a mock battle if the script had their men and vehicles win an over whelming victory at every turn. If the script said otherwise, they'd change it. You're more than welcome to turn the embassy opening day into First Order propaganda, I'd probably get a reward for convincing you to do it, that would be nice, but I should let you know that's what you'd be hosting." Sam chuckled again, the idea of First Order officer she knew agreeing to take scripted loses had amused her greatly.

Oh yes. Commenor had potential. This whole experiment had potential. But it certainly came at a cost. But success or failure, it would be helpful for the Galaxy to see whether or not everyone could get along, or whether it was best for people just to stick to their corners of the Galaxy, battling those that wish to dominate the entire space.

She looked to [member="Samka Derith"] as she laughed, and couldn't help but laugh herself at what she had said. "They will only participate if they are the declared victors? Well, perhaps I'll just send a request for them to do a couple of fly bys then." There would be a lot of other things going on, so there was no need to fill up the schedule with too much.

Kay looked over to [member="Veiere Arenais"] , wondering if he had anything more to add. If not, then she was ready to show Sam where she'd be staying and to give her a tour of the venues and the city.

He nodded to [member="Lady Kay"] reassuringly, he was ready to move on. Not a man to speak for the sake of wasting time, if he had nothing important to add to the discussion he was more than likely to remain quiet and attentive. It didn't surprise him at all that [member="Samka Derith"] had expressed the First Order's interest to be the victor of any sort of military showing given how they kept their secrets so quiet and out of the public eye; to be made to look weak in front of other organizations and governments of a foreign breath wouldn't sit right with them and might even come as an insult. Veiere had met many a different person of the galaxy, some acting very tight-lipped around their personal affairs. Some organizations were no different...-With the First Order, that was understandable. He could see they had a need to keep themselves well guarded.

Glancing back to Samka, still remaining quiet, he would offer a brief smile had she return his subtle yet intrigued look; and while awaiting Kay Larr to carry the conversation further or decide it was time to move on, he pushed the physical world to the side, focusing more so on what he was feeling feeding off of the woman. The Dark Side was dense, it shrouded much of the room around the Knight of Ren though most would not see it, it was something few could sense through the force without the proper training. Fear. Anger. Deceit. Veiere wondered to himself just how much she had gone through already and what she would be willing to do in the future to further the interests of the First Order. No doubt she had taken lives before now, voluntarily harmed others to pursue her purpose within the circle of inherent dark-siders. He wished to trust her as Kay did herself, and knowing that all things required a mutual balance and that the Darkside was a part of the Force just the same as the light, Veiere still found it a shame to see another so comfortably in it's influence.

Finishing off her sandwich, Sam exchanged a glance with [member="Lady Kay"]. It had been a long time since someone had laughed with her. "Mm," a small hum of content left the teenager's lips as she swallowed the last mouthful, "my compliments to whoever prepared that." A simple snack but the right bread and fillings can turn into something delicious.

Picking her parasol off of the ground, Sam twirled it in her hand and dusted the sides. It looked perfectly clean but one could never be too sure. While she was doing so she locked eyes with [member="Veiere Arenais"]. He smiled and out of politeness she returned it but a look of suspicion never quite left her eyes.

Clearing her throat and taking her attention from the Jedi, Sam turned to Kay. "Was there any particular reason you invited me early or is this just... a social thing?"

"I will certainly pass the word along to the chefs. They appreciate the compliments." Not that there was a lot of cooking involved in the lunch, but that was okay. A lot of the times, chefs feel forgotten.

Kay didn't look to [member="Veiere Arenais"] this time as [member="Samka Derith"] asked her question. She kept her eyes focused on the young lady. "I thought that I'd take you on a tour of the city, the venues, and to show you an amazing place that you can escape to whenever you need to. I know that you might not have much free time, but when you need to just get away for a bit, I'll pretend to require you for some diplomatic thing. It'll be your cover, okay?" Kay was a horrible liar, but typing such white lies was always much more believable than having her say it face to face.

In truth, Kay felt as though she owed it to Sam to be there for her in the same way that Sam was there for her at the ball. A rescuer. There was nothing selfish or manipulative about her intent at all. It was purely genuine.

Returning the gaze of [member="Lady Kay"], Sam's brow frowned. "I see," was all she could bring herself to say at first as the young girl's gaze faltered. It seemed bizarre to her that someone would offer sanctuary to a virtual stranger. She had met Kay when another Knight had broken her pilot's mind so it was hardly the best circumstances for starting a friendship. Granted she must have seemed amiable by comparison but that wasn't a high bar. Then there was the ball... That must have been where Kay saw the potential for friendship, where she'd intervened (partially thanks to the influence of alcohol) to 'save' the President from an awkward social situation.

The temptation to reject Kay's offer of an escape was strong. To tell the woman she had no need of such a thing, her loyalty was absolute and she would never go behind the back of her superiors. But instead she relented, "Thank you. I... appreciate the gesture."

A small blush on her face, Sam rose to her feet, refocusing and regaining composure. "Come then, show me your world, Madam President. I'm sure it is beautiful." Turning back to [member="Veiere Arenais"], "I take it you'll be joining us, Master Jedi?"

Kay got to her feet and stretched a little before heading to the door and out into the hall. "Oh it is beautiful. But then almost everyone says that about their worlds, don't they?" She clasped her hands in front of her while she walked. "Do you like storm watching? We have a Valley of the Storm that is unique in the Galaxy. There are flowers that let you know when the rain is coming, just by what colours they are. It can be a dangerous pace, with all the lightning, but it is quite the spectacle."

She looked over her shoulder to [member="Veiere Arenais"] and [member="Samka Derith"] . "But we can go see the venues first of course. Or go shopping. We've just acquired a new outlet store that's primarily focused on cosmetics. I've heard that their products are quite popular."
