STRENGTHS
  • Crewed By Ghosts: While it is ideally crewed by at least a few solid metal droids, the Horla-Class can be entirely operated by its holo-droids. These droids can also ably defend the ship in case of boarders.
  • A Knife In The Dark: The Horla is unusually well-armed and defended for a small stealth vessel, capable of hitting well above its weight in a firefight.
  • Slip Away: The Horla is designed to run from any fight it cannot win, possessing both remarkable sublight speeds and an excellent hyperdrive.
  • Eyes n' Ears: The Horla is essentially a mobile listening post, possessing powerful sensor arrays for detecting enemies or spying on communications.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ion Vulnerability: The Horla is exceptionally vulnerable to ion weaponry, as most of its sophisticated internal systems can be severely damaged by power surges.
  • No Fighters: While it does possess a small hangar to ferry crew to and from the ship, the Horla possesses neither fighters nor support craft to any capacity.
  • Under Wraps: Though it can be obnoxiously difficult to pin down, the Horla possesses only holoshielding, and will crumble quickly if enemy weapons begin to find their mark.
DESCRIPTION

Perhaps the most sophisticated starship in Helix's arsenal, the very existence of the Horla-Class is kept under wraps. Being in essence a mobile listening post, the Horla is capable of lying dormant for months or even years, funnelling enemy transmissions or reporting on hostile naval movements.

This longevity in the field is afforded by the Horla's almost entirely holographic crew. KLK bulbs are dotted liberally about the ship, allowing holodroids to staff every necessary position, as well as respond almost immediately to boarders.

Possessing a powerful stealth panoply, the Horla can be extremely difficult to detect, being capable of cloaking and relocating quickly if spotted. If unable to escape, it will activate its holoshields, utilizing a hit-and-run style of fighting to pound enemy vessels with its outsizedly powerful armament. Coupled with its exceptional sublight speed, this ship can theoretically pick apart ships much larger than itself.

If all its tricks fail, however, the Horla is relatively lightly-armored, and should its holoshields and speed fail to defend it, it cannot absorb much hull damage. Ion weapons in particular are the bane of this craft, as it is effectively a sitting duck without its holoshields. As it has no fighters (relying instead on the flak functions of its weapons) nor any support craft, it cannot prosecute an invasion by itself, nor easily fight off superior numbers.

As such, the Horla is best kept hidden, where it can do its work without interference.
