How Your Character Came To Be

Connor Harrison

April 1st 2014. Connor's birthday on Chaos. Rather apt, April Fools Day. I didn't think of that.

Connor was my 3rd (2nd proper) character on Chaos after 1 failure and 1 Sith; he was made to be my Jedi.

I always use characters from films as imagery so I can make them as real as possible, get a wealth of imagery to tell their story and profile, and have a foundation to work on. I chose Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan from 'Star Trek Into Darkness' which came out in 2013 as I was transfixed by his appearance and vocal work in the trailers before I saw him in action.

He looked dangerous, but also brave. He sounded evil, but also in command. He was a perfect blend of what could be a brilliant Jedi, but hiding many demons inside, so I moved Cumberbatch to the Star Wars universe with the Khan template and built Connor from there.

This teaser really sold it to me. I could imagine him speaking just like Khan - almost like a tiger, growling these words and ideas to you before striking without you ever seeing the attack. His power, his confidence and even the way he looks in this teaser screamed Jedi to me. Jedi, with a hidden danger to him.

His journey started a little bumpy as I found his style; was he immature and anxious, or hot-headed and eager to succeed? Eventually he found his place thanks to certain writers here with the Silver Jedi Order and from there, the rest is history.

Recently he was in danger of becoming something I didn't want - a villain. He was, and is, my Light Sider and no matter what he does or how he does it, he will always stay on that line, never cross it. Thankfully I'm trying to siphon my "villain" writing into a new character to embody that, so Connor is still my Jedi and I look forward to seeing where he goes from here!

I watch a lot of Korean drama TV shows, and every show has a mean girl. She's manipulative, stylish, rich, and generally terrible to those around her. Despite all of this, the girl is always super popular and never gets what's coming to her in the end (no matter how mean she's been). Marzena is that girl.

I usually gravitate towards playing 'nice girl' characters and I have [member="Valae Kitra"] for that, so I thought it would be fun to make this sort of character. I also wanted to have a character that could go to social events and have lighter threads, for when I need a break from Jedi stories :)

@Winter Sovereign
My character, Jenson Koraz, was made specifically for this board. My original idea was a Jedi named Arrin Jakosa, which I created because I wanted to RP as a Jedi on this board. I also was enticed by the idea of the Jedi Aces, and wanted a pilot. There's probably other reasons too but I can't think of them right now. :) Arrin was a Jedi that went through the war, Order 66, and the death of his padawan before fleeing into parts unknown. I was going to flesh him out as I RP'ed, but unfortunately due to the era constraints of the board, I had to scrap him and make Jenson, a Jedi Padawan with essentially the same story except with a few differences.

Lypheen was made because I had always liked the bounty hunters. They were all so cool. I kinda borrowed from Anakin a bit with the conflicted feelings, which you will notice a bit in my posts. I also really like Gran- they are my favorite species on Star Wars. That's pretty much it. As for the name- I literally used a random word generator...

Started of when I was sixteen or fifteen on T G C? Can't remember exactly. Anyway s I played Captain Colbs, an original Mando everyone absolutely hated. The Graduated to RC 212 playing for the Rebellion. A resolute Clone Commando.

Took a break, came back learned about this place and made RC 212 all over again. Except this time he was the leader of the first ever Death-watch, and attempted to Kill the Current Mandalore which needless to say went down like a sack of bricks. Got bored with RC cycled through lots of characters, Including the Ticons.

Eventually landed on Vassara. Heavily inspired by my favourite character here [member="Jorus Merrill"]. Yeah I admitted it. But Vassara just grew on me. Starting as a rugged nobody spacer who joined the Underground and then just grew to be this conflicted, but virtuous Jedi woman who went her own way. I had a ton of fun with her, raided some Sith worlds, Started a Faction with basis on exploring and such.

Then I got a GF lol. And quit the site.

Then I deployed and it fell apart. I came back, RP'ed Vassara for a bit more kicking behinds, but it just felt stale. She was a Master splitting her time between SSC, Underground, and a dozen other Lightsided factions. Round Christmas I just got tired of her. She wasn't really fitting with the Mando's where I wanted her to.

So I saw Episode Seven. OMG!

And then she died and Jack her son was born.

A classic cross between Vassara and Han Solo really.

And I'm aiming to play the lesser represented Force Traditions like the Zeison Sha for one. Sith just never panned out well for me.

So Jack is a Spacer, Mando. Lightsider with a criminal past, an awesome sword arm, and sweet piloting skills. Also I used Jaxton Ravos character generator and rolled him with online die generators and then just went with it. Gotta say, since Vass, one of my favourite ever characters!

Now I’m twenty four and a super nerd. Still here with you folks though!

P.S. I nuked Keldabe in a past life and killed Rach-Kol Rekali

I'm from the same site Eralam hails from, and where this character originated.

Bulthos started as a pirate in the vein of the PotC movies; hammy, over-the-top, and cursed by a Nightsister for all eternity for being a greedy git. At the time, some of the writers I respect most were on the top of the smuggler heap, and I figured I'd create a character that fit that mold somewhat, as my only real character at that point had been a mad scientist Dark Jedi with more Marvel ripoffs under his belt than a disgruntled DC employee. I also wanted to avoid the stereotype that ran with that site's crowd. In place of young and beautiful, Bulthos was older and pretty foul-looking. In place of being able to do no wrong, Bulthos was well aware of his myriad failures and vices (regardless of not doing anything to change them). And while willing to kill, each death would weigh on the man, as opposed to the lack of afterthought that often followed slaughter. My goal with Bulthos was, in short, to portray a space pirate as realistically as possible (despite, you know, that whole cursed-by-a-Nightsister schtick). It didn't go as well as I'd have liked in that respect.

I brought him back here because, in addition to tweaking some things that bugged me about his original incarnation, he was just plain fun to write. I've written Jedi, I've written Dark Jedi, I've written Sith, and I've written a droid or two. But writing a space pirate was probably the most fun I'd ever had in play-by-post RP. Ever.

After hearing so much about this site (to the point where former members of my site swear by it), I figured I'd give it a whirl. And who better to do it with than a character that died on my main site?

There was not enough Twi'leks (Still aren't) on Chaos.

I wanted to write a Togruta, but found no artwork that I liked (Didn't want to use Shaak Ti or Ahsoka despite my love for them). I did some looking and found some amazing Twi'lek artwork from an artist on Deviant Art. Thennnnnn made some edits of my own to said artwork, mostly color changes and later added the tattooed facial markings. The name I took from my Miqo'te character I played on FFXIV a few years ago. Her personality is pretty well mirrored to the sassy personality of Emma Stone. (Hence why I use her GIFs in my OOC posts. Sometimes I wish I'd have just used Emma as her avatar.) Aside from that I just kind of threw together a story that sounded good and that was that.

Yep...That's that.
