- Eye in the Sky: Given its role as an infantry support craft first and foremost, most of the Hssiss's design is dedicated to ground support in both armaments and even more sophisticated systems. The targeting computer for example has been tweaked specifically to account for and deal with surface and air targets without any need to switch sensors or priorities in the system. Its speed and maneuverability ensures swift response to calls for support and the respectable loadout allows for a respectably strong response at all times as well.
- Light Loads: The Hssiss possess fairly little room for passengers and cargo despite their role as infantry support aircraft, meant more to ferry single squads and their equipment into or out of hot zones in combat and provide air support rather than carrying a real force into battle. This does necessitate dedicated transports with the Hssiss limited specifically to air support and rapid squad deployment and recovery.
While the Shyrack Gunship covered most of the needs of the Sanguine Defense Work's customer base and their own forces fairly well, it did have some gaps in its arsenal and capabilities that left just enough room for another model of gunship. The Hssiss, named for a decidedly dangerous reptile, became the cheaper and more streamlined version of the Shyrack not long after it was developed. Being an airspeeder rather than a proper ship the Hssiss was more limited in its scope of operations but this was hardly considered given how it fit perfectly into its role as air support.
In particular it would be an ideal craft for law enforcement and single squad usage as well as outright battlefield application, providing just enough carrying capacity to be useful as a transport and making up for its shortcomings in that regard with nearly every other aspect. The speed and maneuverability of the craft can largely be traced to the inclusion of S-Foils and a Deflector Shield, with the latter making up for the almost total lack of real armor as well. The more sophisticated systems are also geared towards ground support in particular and are designed with the intent of aiding soldiers below while fending off threats from above.
