TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

 • Classification: Advanced Energy Weapon, Solar Ionization Array

 • Size: Large

 • Weight: Heavy

 • Ammunition Type: Converted Solar Energy, Superheated Plasma [Reactor Core]

 • Ammunition Capacity: Effectively Unlimited

 • Reload Speed: Slow

 • Effective Range: Long Range - Battlefield

 • Rate of Fire: Low

 • Stopping Power: Very High - Extreme

 • Recoil: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES

 • The initial impact is equivalent to about forty-eight heavy long-range turbolasers.

 • Less penetrative focus works to disable a ship’s electrical systems, shields, weapons and/or other auxiliary systems.

 • Capable of bypassing conventional shielding, and works to disable vessels at a distance.

 • Pulse is about three seconds of a coherent beam. A system of arrays works to modify the weapon’s radius, giving it a wider impact area.

 • Impact radius is about three times that of a heavy long-range turbolaser.

 • Utilizes converted solar energy, and tibanna gas to form/create the beam.
Strengths:

 • Impact: The Hyperion may be capable of taking out electrical systems, weapons, shields, and/or auxiliary systems. The solar ionized pulse bypasses conventional shielding and those without molecular shielding will find themselves on the brutal end of the weapon’s impact.

 • Range: The weapon’s most effective combat range goes from standard long-range turbolaser to the length of the battlefield, making it an ideal weapon for disabling ships at a distance.

 • Radius: The array has a wider impact radius giving the ‘pulse’ a better chance at making contact with target areas.
Weaknesses:

 • Range: Ineffective at standard combat range, while you could still fire with it - it honestly is less likely to hit its target the closer it is.

 • Size: The smaller the target the harder it is to hit, even at range. The majority of smaller sized ships are able to move fast enough to be out of the weapon’s impact radius.

 • Shield: Those with molecular shields or shields able to modulate/withstand solar ionization weapons will find it a little easier to mitigate the Hyperion’s damage output.

 • Crystal: Powered with the Siaber crystal, precautions must be taken to ensure that the weapon doesn’t overheat or deal with too much pressure.
DESCRIPTION
The Hyperion was based on two things, the Helios and the Mark 91. Fiolette Raaf dug through Primo Victorian archives to pull information on the Mark 91. It had been one of the key features of her early Imperial work. Looking at the schematics again, Fiolette began making changes the first of which was to eliminate the penetrative focus of the Mark 91.

Initially, Fiolette looked at utilizing Ionite but found the material’s alternate charge would complicate the array and reduce its overall effectiveness. She turned instead to the Helios and decided she would focus more on the pulse rather than the penetrative aspect of the Mark 91. By eliminating the penetrative aspect of the weapon altogether. Fiolette could then work solely with the pulse and since the Helios worked as a weaponized particle beam of solar energy. In effect, the Hyperion could work on the same principles only now focusing on delivering a ‘solar ionization bomb’ as opposed to a proton.

This would then scale down the Mark 91 base but would allow for the inclusion of a bomblet generator. The bomblet generator would not draw from the ship’s own reactor core but rather from a dedicated reactor. The weapon would also have its own dedicated tibanna gas lines to aid in this effort. Since the Hyperion lacks the same structure of the Helios it works a little simpler than its brethren.

This starts with the converted solar energy being pulled from the converters. The energy is then pulled by a tibanna-fed bomblet generator. Instead of the bomblet generator simply releasing the energy onto opponents. This energy is transferred utilizing the basic turbolaser ‘bolt’ principles forming a fused bolt of solar ionized plasma. The bolt is fed into a pulsor to create and sustain a coherent beam. Following a similar pattern of the Mark 91, the bolt would be modified by a set of arrays. These arrays would modify the radius of the beam’s overall impact.

When fired the Hyperion immediately converts its energy and rather than penetrate armor. The energy works to shorten, cut or shut down shields, weapons, auxiliary systems, or any system that relies on an electrical component. In effect, the Hyperion delivers a solar ionized bomb via pulse array.
