I ain't got anything better to do (Fable)

Softly I exhaled, bit of relief filled my bones at the very least I hadn’t broken Merrill’s new toy permanently. Though I was starting to wonder if she wouldn’t do that all on her own; she had a temper, but didn’t have the maturity to control it.

Not my problem though, right? Merrill would probably straighten her out... probably, oh don't even think about it Ovmar. I know what you want to do and it's stupid, Rave knows what she is doing, this ain't your responsibility. No. You ain't doing it, shut up and release her, so you can finally leave this place. I am warning you. Fine.

‘ I am going to release you, but by the Force, lady. If you throw another scene I will make that broken nose of yours feel like a trip to heaven itself, do we understand each other? ‘

Then I released my grip and waved with my hand to pull the lightsabers into my hands, can’t be too careful with those laying around.

The weight was gone. Fable sat up and realized her nose was gushing blood and making a mess of her, so she tried to cover it and stopper the flow before... well, it was already pretty bad, but still. Realizing just how completely she'd gotten beat, Fable hung her head and shoulders in quiet shame and avoided making eye contact with the man who'd just made her do that again. "Undahstoo'." The lean young woman croaked unhappily.

She'd gone from a rabid beast to looking like she was on the verge of bursting into tears in about half a minute flat. Maybe less. Rave really cooked up a winner, didn't she?

"Please don' take anyfink or break things?" Fable asked miserably, her voice acquiring a watery, dull resonance from the broken nose. "Mish Murrill asked me to keep an eye on her schtuff. If she finds out I failed..."

I couldn’t help but shake my head just a tad bit, from raging psycho to teary, little girl - it was one heck of a transformation. I wondered if this was what it felt to have a ki-- really gotta stop saying stupid stuff like that, it ain’t in anybody’s interest and will only cause problems for everyone involved. ‘Sides, don’t even want to think what Fen would do with this girl.

‘Yeah, yeah. Let’s go get you cleaned up, lass. I promise I won’t take anything.’

She still hadn’t figured out that something wasn’t exactly right, but in her state… who could blame her. Really wondered what Rave was doing with her though, maybe something like concern bottled up inside of me, who knows. I always get protective over kids, don’t know why, still happens though.

Lightsabers got clipped to my belt and I offered her a hand, slowly, as to not spook her into jumping back into that cage again.

There weren't many things that could get Fable back into that room without likely killing her in the process. Even now, burnt and exhausted, she was put on edge just by her proximity to the Clone facility. Fable raised a hand to accept the help up, then winced in pain - right. Something in her wrist was broken. Easily fixed, not the first time. When you tended to fly off the handle like that, one got used to setting delicate bones and treating self-inflicted injuries. Looked like she was on her own for standing up, though - which she managed with only a little difficulty.

The flow of blood was slowing down, so she had that going for her, which was nice.

Padding her way over to a sink - fairly common in a pseudo-hospital/lab - Fable leaned over and started washing some of the blood from her face. Gross. Gross, gross, gross. In the meantime, she tried to figure out what was going on. This guy had just SHOWN up - if he'd wanted to kill her, she'd be dead. So why was he here? She tried to wrap her head around possibilities... but Fable was far from very clever, even in optimal circumstances.

Her face relatively clean and some bits of paper towel on her nose, Fable glanced at the Sith Lord before quietly asking. "...so, whyb däre you here?" Fable asked quietly, tilting her head up and squeezing her nose between her thumbs. A moment to brace herself... with a wet -crack- and a pained squeak, she reset the cartilage, so it'd heal straight.

While she was doing her thing I was doing mine, leaning against a nearby wall and studying the hall we were in. It seemed Merrill had been quite busy if those rooms were what I thought they were, wasn’t entirely sure if I was digging her operation here - but then again… I wasn’t the one to judge other people’s work, wasn’t in the capacity to do that after everything I had done.

She still hadn’t figured out yet what I was doing here, shouldn’t really expect that either, with her slamming her head into the door… I ain’t sure if she entirely present at the moment anyway, wondering if I should answer her straight about this.

Probably should, jig is up either way so it really doesn’t matter all that much.

‘ I was here to test you, see if you were… ready. ‘

I cringed mentally when she set her own nose, tough girl; but I had already said that once before. Kept surprising me though, in a good way. Might be she was still a bit naive and perhaps just a little green around the ears, but she makes that up with that fury of her.

Only thing she has to do is learn to control the fire, instead of it dominating her.

Fable cringed and rubbed her poor, aching nose before wiping her eyes to clear the small pain-tears. That gave her a moment to process what the man was saying. A test? That was weird. "R-ready for what, sir?" She asked carefully, trying to remain polite. At least her face wasn't blood-soaked anymore, though the same couldn't be said of her oversized white jacket and feet. The drones would clean up the floor, and she could handle being a little bloody. Embarassing? Yes. but this man had just seen her... Tantrum, so a little blood really was a drop in the ocean.

"Did Miss Merrill send you? I guess... I guess you must know her, since your illusion was pretty spot on." Fable guessed with a weary smile. A guess AND a compliment - somebody knew how to handle Sith Lords without being told.

A bemused expression settled onto my face, she really was something - stroking my ego two seconds after trying to impale me with her lightsaber. Rascal had almost killed me… now wouldn’t that have been a sob story I would never have been able to survive from, even Transfer Essence wouldn’t bring me back from that specific embarrassment.

Yet I decided then that I liked her, at least a little bit when she wasn’t all crazed and trying to break doors down with her head.

‘ You can say that Merrill and me are associates of some kind.’ I gave her a slight nod. 'Lord Ovmar, but you can call me Jared. How's the hand?'

Fable glanced down at her rapidly swelling wrist, blinking. She gave it a slight squeeze, tried to rotate it. It refused to go clockwise, and there was a sharp pain when it tried widdershins. As she'd suspected, a fairly clean fracture. Far from the first, and most likely far from the last. "Broken." She replied quickly, allowing herself a slightly disapproving frown. Stupid girl - fly off the handle, and the only thing you manage to break is yourself. And a door. Wouldn't Miss Merrill be THRILLED to know that you managed to demolish another part of her lab. GREAT job, way to go. Idiot.

For the sake of trying, Fable squeezed her wrist again, and then sighed quietly. It would likely hurt a lot more if her nerve endings were wired properly, but as it stood, trying to find the break by touch alone was only slightly uncomfortable and a little painful. "...it's an, um, clean fracture, sir. It'll heal quickly. But I should... probly go set it." Fable admitted, before glancing back up to 'Jared'.

Sith Lord Jared. What a laugh of a name.

"Ready for what, sir?" She repeated hesitantly.

That’s for her to tell you, lass. Ain’t my place to say - though a tip might be in order if we are at it. Train your mind, learn to focus it and keep your temper in check until you can use that fury in a less… self-destructing manner.

I raised a brow when a thought came to me, there was a thing I could help her with… well besides giving her full-time mentalist lessons. Though that would probably have proven fruitless, least the show she made three minutes suggested such a thing.

Hmm… I might have something that could help you.

Truth to be told I could just lock her mind away from all contact - make her into a figural epicanthix. But why give her that much of an advantage over men such as me? Nah. There are other ways to help her out, I unbuttoned my shirt and revealed a necklacehttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/15955-sigil-of-hope/ hanging from my neck.

Usually when a man tells a young woman he's going to help her and then starts taking off his shirt, that has certain implications. Good thing Fable was aware of none of them, or she'd be busy dying of embarrassment at the mere thought of such things. Keeping her wide eyes focused on Jared, (with her nose still plugged up of course) Fable did have the presence of mind to wonder what he had planned. Maybe he wanted to show her a cool tattoo or something.

She'd already forgotten that Miss Merrill was apparently the one who'd sent him here, as she'd forgotten that she was supposed to ask her that. Fable was, and would always be, a creature of the moment - not prone to planning ahead at once. Singularly unsubtle and slightly oblivious to the world around her, and yet often crippled with introspection. A tribute to her genetic donor, perhaps.

In this universe she was vastly too young for him, perhaps in a few months when she had eh… matured just a little, tinsy bit - nothing is in the realm of impossibility; at least not when you were talking to a Sith Lord whose middle name was debauchery.

He removed the necklace and showed it to her.

This will help you protect your mind against the attacks of the mental sort. Mind… it won’t hold people back like me - but it might just give you the extra seconds needed to pull something crazy off. Eh… I wouldn’t suggest faceplanting in a wall again though. Bit ineffective in the grand scheme of things.

Ovmar didn’t mention that the necklace had a blood trail on it, which would allow him to track her every movement and as a result Rave’s. Not that that had been the plan - the Sith Lord just liked to know where his toys were.

Fable blinked and cupped her hands to recieve the necklace carefully. Such an amazing little crystal! And he was just GIVING it to her? Wow! Who said that Sith Lo-

Oh, right. It was likely a trap of some kind. Stupid girl, you should have realized that sooner. Well, nothing to stop her from accepting it to save face, and then having Miss Merrill look it over later. Smiling politely as she was handed the fancy crystal necklace thing, Fable clasped her hands together at her waist. "I'll try not to, sir." She promised genuinely. "I'm sorry if the training didn't go how you planned it, though. If it helps, I did learn some stuff." The clone added for good measure.

Fable then glanced over her shoulder, down the hall, mentally checking the time. "You're Miss Merrill's associate, right? She won't be back for another six hours or so. If you'd like, I can show you to someplace you could get some rest." She offered, assuming the 'lessons' were over.

Honestly the last thing I wanted to do was wait until Merrill got her ass over here, six hours? I ain’t got the time for that. Training was over - yet I found myself pretty intrigue with this girl; so I had the choice between packing my bags leaving and sticking around for a while and interacting with the girl.

Perhaps learn some other stuff from her, get some new insights on her. Ain’t sure which of the two seemed more interesting to me, home called to me - I really needed a coffee and perhaps a change of clothes..

What is it that you do here all day long,’ I asked her with a slightly raised brow, her answer would probably determine if I decided to nope out of here or stick around for a little while.

I wondered if she had any first person shooters laying around here; has been a long time since I last played a video game.

"Mostly watch things on the holonet and do exercises and stuff." Fable answered offhandedly, her hands behind her back. "I'm not always here, though. Usually Miss Merrill has me accompany her on her trips, or running errands to help with her work." She added with a small shrug, as though she felt in some way unsatisfied with that. Why wouldn't she? She'd been created to heed Miss Merrill's whim. Fable had no idea that her donor lived for combat, and only truly felt complete when putting her life on the line. It was something Fable, herself, would discover in time.

The young woman took a couple steps down the hallway, tugging at her bloodstained shirt. "Sometimes I play games, too, but I don't really have any good ones. Mostly stuff I've already beat." She complained mildly. "I should go, uhm, change. Did you want me to show you a room, sir?"

Naw, it’s fine. You got anything with a lot of violence, guns and what we can play one versus one? I haven’t played a proper vid. game since that one time I trolled Jaxton with a fake account.

That brought a grin on my lips, though I doubted she even knew who Jaxton was.

Don’t mind me though, go change. I can wait.’ I added almost as an after-thought.

As a matter of fact, Fable DIDN'T know who Jaxton was. But she did know what a second player was, and with little hesitation dragged her new friend off to explore the glorious world of multiplayer games.

----

An hour later found the two in a position Jared, perhaps, might have been ashamed to find himself in in front of most of the Galaxy - sitting on the floor of a girl's bedroom, locked in heated combat against her in the latest installment of Unholy Brawlers 2 - a brutal fighting game that Fable had spent no small amount of time mastering during her long hours of nothing to do. She was quick, she was aggressive, and caught up in the game, even mumbled trash talk under her breath during heated bouts - which she was usually quick to apologize for right after.

In contrast Ovmar had never been much of a brawler gamer - it reminded him too much of a life spent knocking teeth on in the Underworld of Coruscant and yet when he was playing the game against Fable, surrounded by the plush dolls and other characteristic scenery props a girl’s room was known for… the Sith Lord felt perhaps a little at peace.
At least for a short duration of time, before he cursed with such language that was not meant for an one-year old clone’s ears, before throwing the controller down and falling to his back.
You really should get out more, those skills are maddening. ‘

His reaction caused Fable to erupt into triumphant, modest laughter, before giving the Sith Lord a light, playful shove. "Sorry, sir, but that sounds like sore losing if I've ever heard it." She teased lightly, setting her own controller in her lap for safe keeping. Sitting crosslegged on her bed, Fable leaned forward and put her arms on her knees so she could lean over and grin at the supine dark lord. "If you'd like, we could go online and be on the same team."

It was, perhaps, a chance to regain his honor with some wins - by siding with the girl who'd been kicking the hell out of his character for the better part of an hour. "You're not bad. You just need to learn how to block better. And move around more." Fable offered helpfully. "It's like you keep trying to outsmart me, but you're not, like, quick enough to follow through on it."

Tempting… tempting. Let’s do a few more, I think I am starting to get a hang of this thing,’ he said while shooting her an appraising look, before restarting the match.

They played a few more matches, those few more turned into many more, which turned into a lot more and not before long the six hours were over and done with.

Ovmar rubbed his eyes and put the controller down, leaning back against the floor and finally laying down himself.

Well… that was… something. Still can’t believe you finished off four of ‘em on your own while I was KO. Nicely done.’
