Private I Don't Cheat

"No, you're just a sore winner." Clever come back, Maran. She kept a pretty haughty attitude, puffed out her chest. Then blinked. A second round? After he'd already won? And she couldn't use her like, one actual skill? If it could even be called that. She panicked, visibly.

"Wha- Uh. No. No, I don't want you to embarrass yourself or anything! Take the win. Know you won even with my little trick. Last thing you're gonna want is to loose to me without it, y'know?"

Tenn just grimaced at Maran, her attempt at a comeback falling flat. The mirialan's reaction to a second round only made his shifting smirk grow wider.

As adept as he was at reading people, rarely was Tenn so forthcoming with his knowledge. In this particular case, however, he was getting some enjoyment out of it, "Just admit you're scared of losing again. I won't tell anyone."

"I'm not scared."

There was a surprising firmness to her voice as she spoke. Her eyes on his, even. As terrible as she was at talking to people, especially when she was lying, she didn't agree with it. He could make fun of her for whatever he wanted, but not that.

She wasn't a coward.

"I just don't want to fight again. That's all."

Tenn blinked, a bit surprised by her sudden firmness. Coward or not, she clearly didn’t like being called as such. There was a pregnant pause as they were locked in a staredown. Tenn’s gaze never quite left her, but ultimately, “...Okay. Fine.”

He backed down. He had better things to do than mock some girl he’d already beaten. It didn’t sit right with him, anyway, not after how she reacted. Tenn sheathed his saber and stepped off the training mat, donning his jacket and tugging it forward, before grabbing his bag, “Maybe some other time, then.”

Oh he backed down.

Good. She let out a held breath, not even bothering to hide the relief. Last thing she wanted was to suffer two losses in a row. .. And what was with that? She was more surprised at her own sudden aggressiveness than he probably was. She really didn't like being called a coward, huh?

".. Yeah, maybe."

Tenn stood there a moment, almost hoping that his apparent sudden disinterest would make her backtrack into a second round after all. But no such luck. Maran was set in her ways, quite content to leave the fight where it was. Oh well. He shrugged, slinging his bag over his shoulder and heading for the door.

"See you around, Maran…" A pause, "…Try and get in some actual saber lessons, yeah?"

What.

Tenn's words cut through like a knife. Anger flashed in her eyes as she glared at him. How dare he! She wasn't some wiz with a lightsaber, but to suggest she didn't know what she was doing at all? Who cared if that was true! He didn't have a right to say it!

"Next time I'm going to kick your ass!"

Tenn stopped right at the door, and hid a grin. That struck her a certain way. At this point, it was as much for his enjoyment as it was actually pushing her to do better. He glanced back at her, "Prove it then," And with that he left. Maybe next time it would be more interesting. And maybe, just maybe, she would actually try to learn something between now and then for their next duel.

Look at that, Tenn actually trying to help his fellow padawan. In the most indirect way possible, which was very Tenn, but still.
