I feel retarded. Some help please?

Hi there, I know Im not active, but I'd like to be. But the biggest struggle I have is that. I just dont understand the factions, the lore, and what kind of characters are accepted.

See I love the Empire The empire era alone is my go to kind of deal.

Storm Troopers, DeathTroopers, Tie-Pilots.

All that.

But I cant seem to find the Empire..

am I dumb?

The Galactic Empire was a major faction for a while in the past, but it has since died. Several factions with the idea of using the Galactic Empire as a base for their own government have come and gone, but there aren't any currently active on the Major Faction roster. Out of the current Major Factions on the board, the Core Imperial Confederation (CIC) is probably you're going to get to the Empire, though they use Clone armor rather than Stormtrooper armor.

Heya! Welcome to the board!

There's no "Empire" as in The Galactic Empire, because we're several hundred years after the movies. Several factions have clone or stormtrooper adjacent groups, though, so all you have to do is shop around to find where you wanna be.

The First Order used to be where new stormies gravitated to, but they recently went minor. The Sith Empire would work if you're into that "mailed fist of the Sith" feel, while the CIS has Dauntless troops who're loyal to the clone trooper aesthetic. I admit I'm not as familiar with some of the newer factions, like the Chiss Ascendancy or the Jen'ari Empire. They might well have their own stormies.

If you have any more questions, or need any help, don't be afraid to ask.

To echo what [member="Droz Munin"] said, I believe the CIC is the closest active faction to the old Galactic Empire right now on the board. However, we have a late Galactic Republic/early Galactic Empire/Order 66 aesthetic. So we have clone troopers (stormtroopers) wearing Phase II style armor, TIEs and V-wings, and ARC troopers.

I play a stormtrooper in that faction, so if you're interested, I'd recommend joining the faction and hopping into the discord.

Hope you have fun!

So

What is the important shit I need to know before I create a character for said faction

Or if you want to join the most deadliest warriors of the galaxy, that have their own culture and language. There is always the Mandalorian Empire.
Ah, Maybe I didn't word it write.

I know Starwars lore like the back of my hand, I /love/ the Mandalorians, but I am not sure if I'd be fit enough to Roleplay them. I still have a lot of reading to do.

Are there major RP events I should read before diving in?

[member="Pasta"] I wouldn't overthink it man. If you mean by not fit enough, like the lore/culture/langauge is intimidating, there are amazing members of the faction that can help you along and get you settled in.

As someone still new myself, based on what I've seen, you've got it a little backwards. Write the character you want and then find the faction that best suits you. And I wouldn't worry too much about past RP history. The faction you join should help get you up to date, and RP history doesn't impact every character the same way, from what I've seen.

Good luck and good writing!

While I welcome that, I think Im going to lurk around some factions to read into it.

I agree to a certain extend

While I do agree writing a base of a character is good, I like to write a character /to/ the lore I want them to be, IE: A Storm Trooper written for the Empire, why he joined. What possible things drove him TO join. Rather than writing a character who has these traits but aren't IN a job or role. Make sense? Or am I confusing.

[member="Pasta"]

Hmm...well, for that I'd need to know what sort of character you want to write. I presume a stormtrooper, yes? If so, here's the gist of that. In short, Core Imperial military personnel can be Fett Clones, human (or near-human) volunteers, or biosynthesized humans. If you're writing a clone, that character likely would have been flash-grown and flash-trained, rather than going through ten years of training because the Core Imperial Confederation has only existed for a few months ICly.

This page presents an overview about the faction and some of it's policies.

I hope that helps you out! Don't forget to hop in the faction discord, as well!

In regards to cluing yourself on the lore, I was in your position a few months ago, but I jumped in straight away lol. Anyway, to clear my confusion only took a single reading of the Timeline from start to finish. Once I'd done that, I had everything I needed. Bear in mind, your character probably won't be aware of much of what has been happening in the Galaxy so don't stress about writing around certain events or galactic aspects. You can safely omit some things from your conscience :)
