Niynx grunted as he was crushed again by aggressive G-forces, his cheeks slurring to one side. Splitting his attention between eyes-forward and hasty glances over his shoulder, he rounded a series of obstacles and came face to face with Arco's Pass.
"Blast!"

Pulling the throttle back, Niynx rocketed upwards. At these speeds, a bad crash could mean being vaporized; he wanted more than enough maneuvering room on the initial approach.
"Oh, I've got a bad feeling about thiiis!"
Swallowing and opening himself to the Force, Niynx ducked into a corkscrew dive and pushed full power to engines.

Blast! She thought she had him this time. Either Niynx was being humble or he downplayed his skill when they'd spoken about piloting before. Her second attempt to pass failed.

Suddenly Niynx pulled up and away creating more room to maneuver. This was her chance. Instead of following his lead she gunned the throttle to the max. Arco's pass was quickly approaching.

It had only been a matter of time before Lao-ta overtook him, he knew, racing safely in his slipstream and waiting for Niynx's inexperience to provide her an opening for victory. He grunted when she pulled ahead, below, teeth clenched and knuckles white around his steering yoke. Sound distorted as he flew through Arco's Pass, like the eruption of thunder, momentarily deafening the Jedi Padawan.

There, ahead of them both, lay the clear and wide open final stretch to Sellia II's prestigious racing course. Grinning, Niynx began easing the throttle downwards once more and keyed comms.

<< Nice flying, Master! >> An obvious sense of pride for Lao-ta's success beamed through even the mechanical-vocal overlay of ship comms, his tone leaping and elevated with both adrenaline and sheer joy.

<< But this isn't over 'till it's over! I'll see you on the other side. >> With a mock salute, Niynx keyed off comms and pressed everything he had into speed, precision, and the great expanses of the Force.

Ryana walked in to the visiting halls that where given since she crashed she had been paying attention so far it looked like she was the only one who did which was embarrassing. Her arm wasn't broken like she thought it was only sprained she could still move it but she would have to stay away from physically exerting her arm until it healed pip followed her his tongue hanging out he was still rattled but was given a clean bill of health otherwise he seemed to mostly calm down from the accident she sat down on one of the bench's to watch the race most had finished the race embarrassment radiated off of her as she sat there she was the first to crash and from the looks of it she was going to be the only one to crash. So far as she felt pip crawl onto her lap and sit down ryana patted his head as he looked up his tongue sticking out as per usual she smiled "why do you have to be so cute" she said as people walked by. Pip did improve her mood slightly but she was still embarrassed and nervous at what the other pilots and the people who watched would think.

Success! Lao-ta finally managed to pass Niynx. She smirked as she pulled ahead and into the final stretch. As her padawan's voice came across the comms again and told her it wasn't over she grinned. No it was not.

Suddenly she felt his presence expand in the force. He was maybe a bit inconsistent still but he was flying like a true jedi. She did a double take as he was suddenly alongside her. Feeling the pressure from him she focused everything she had on speed.

<Trash talking won't get you farther than me, you know.>

He cleared his throat as he watched her go off ahead of him, though.

".. Does seem clean, though."

But the next section was much clearer, which only meant he could throw down on the throttle to try and take her over. He wasn't going to stay behind her for long.

<Trash talking? I'd never~ I only tease you, love.>

She snickered as she passed him by, but right as they came out of the difficult start of the race track, the two surprisingly found themselves in a much clearer opening. Kahlil was very fast to capitalize on it, and blasted ahead of her with a burst of speed. So much so, that Valery briefly looked down to see if her weapons were online. But if she were to take out his engines and win that way, she'd be the one sleeping on the couch.

It wasn't worth it.

As quickly as she could, Valery accelerated and tried her best to fly over him, just so she could flip upside down and look down into his cockpit. Nothing about this race was serious to her, beyond maybe beating him at this little game. So why not be a little silly and have some fun?

<See you at the finish line!>

Shan Pavond Shan Pavond Loomi Loomi

"Mhmm!" Vera exclaimed when Shan mentioned her parents. "Mom and Dad are racing against each other. Mommy really wants to win," she said with a giggle, knowing that it was usually her father who won their competitions. Something about their special bond she didn't entirely understand yet.

Shan then went on to explain why he wasn't participating, and unloaded quite a lot of information on the 7 year old Noble. Vera, however, didn't seem bothered at all, and just smiled and nodded along. "Maybe next time you can join! Then we can race against each other." If mom and dad would let her, but she was old enough. Or, at least, she believed that she was old enough for the fast and furious space racing.

If talking to Shan wasn't fun enough yet, Yulon and Loomi joined as well, and Vera's eyes were practically glued to them for a solid few seconds, "I'm Vera! I'm watching the race with my brother and sisters," she said before she turned around to point at the guarded stroller with triplets.

"They like it."

Shan turned his head over to look toward the triplets, blinking to himself afterward. How did someone deal with having so many Kids? Shan shook his head at that thought, however, not wanting to be too rude by actually voicing that thought out loud. Instead, he just turned his attention towards Vera, Loomi, and Yulon again, breaking out into a bright smile as he introduced himself to the two new arrivals, giving them both a short bow before he opened his mouth. Manners cost nothing at the end of the day,

"Shan Pavond, a pleasure to meet the pair of you. I'm mostly in the Archives going over information, or I'm on the streets of Coruscant, trying to give the people free food and drink when I can, which is why you possibly haven't seen me around Loomi. I've...also not been great at social interaction. Though that is something I'm trying to change. One could say I'm applying myself to something unfamiliar."

He grinned over in Yulon's direction afterward before clapping his hands together and looking back toward Vera. "I'm glad to hear your siblings are enjoying the race though Vera. I've always been more of a fan of slower things." Speeders and ships had never appealed much to Shan, though he could understand why people liked the idea of being able to drive fast through the sky or along the ground. Though he decided to glance over towards Loomi, and at least be polite to her, since he had spoken directly to Yulon and Vera already.

"Why aren't you piloting? Not exactly your kind of thing? At least that means I'm not alone in not wanting to fly if that's the case" Once again Shan broke out into a cheesy grin, just trying to radiate positivity at the moment. Whilst some people might think he was doing it for other people, it was more so he could ignore his nervousness at being social with other people.

A grin crawled across the young padawan's face as she threw her vehicle into the straight, pressing forwards as the droid whirred in anxious protest to the speed. Caution could wait, there were plenty of Jedi masters to help in case anything went wrong and the competitive spirit in Ayra began to burn as the exciting feeling in her chest began to expand.

She had made up decent time compared to the hanging vines, but it still wasn't enough to beat the leaders of the board. The Echani would have to be deft with her positioning as she approached the most treacherous path. Two vines were tightly interwoven, leaving little space for dynamic flying. Ayra eased off the speed to focus on control before she made the audience and the Jedi within panic.

Well at least she wasn't all talk. Kahlil bit back a bitter chuckle as he continued to watch Valery sail ahead, but he wasn't about to give up. What sort of example would that set for Vera? Asides, the next leg was way more up his alley than Valery's, right?

So he pulled on the controls and spun ahead, all to weave his way through the mess of vines that awaited him.

"They like it."

This simple answer to the thoughts of the triplets rose a chuckle out of Yulon. The bird seemed rather charmed by it all. Loomi wandered if it was something about him being a father. It was unclear to her, mainly because she was unfamiliar with family dynamics.

"I see," he nodded. "They'll certainly be excited for their time to participate I'm sure. My son tells me about how much he loves flying whenever he's out there."

"Why aren't you piloting? Not exactly your kind of thing? At least that means I'm not alone in not wanting to fly if that's the case"

Oh, she was being talked to. Right.

"I... wasn't cleared to fly," Loomi sighed. "The healers said I was too distracted."

Not exactly. They said her state was too unpredictable. If she had a lapse of consciousness out there, or some kind of situationally induced memory return to her, there was the potential for a lot of harm to be done. They had deemed that it was for the best that she not fly for a while, at least while she processed everything in her head.

"But I'm okay," she assured. "I'm fine staying on the ground."

That was a lie, of course, but she hoped it would keep the boy from pressing.

Shem wasn't getting through this quite like everyone else, at least given his current time, but he was still in the air and having a good time. In the end of the day, that was all that mattered, right? Tepp seemed to have calmed down with the path ahead clearing up through the Vinetree Tangle, and the pair breezed through it with no difficulty, though they notably weren't as fast as other pilots.

"Alright!" Shem nodded regardless, still excited. "Two more areas, Tepp. Let's go!"

His astromech companion was more positive now, even beeping out some positivity, though the droid quickly backpedaled when Arko's Pass came into view. Vine pillars stood before them, the space in between each tighter than the tangle's had been. Shem didn't care either way. He was going in. The fledgling engaged the rotation capabilities of the Epo-1's wings, shifting them to a good angle before speeding in.

As the interwoven vines tightened ahead of her, Ayra's nerves gave way as she lightened on the throttle of her interceptor. Lack of experience in the craft gave her too much pause in this stretch of the race. Instead of pressing forward with confidence, she clung to the safe feeling of her slower speed, passing between the vines safely if not with much speed.

Going into the final stretch of the race, the Echani knew it was make or break. The record holder was a decent pace ahead of her but not technically impossible for her to compete with.

"I can still do this."

Without the worrying tightness of the interwoven vines, Ayra hoped just pressing into the speed of the vehicle would be enough to make up for the time she needed, throwing the throttle forward as soon as the tunnels of vines opened into the flat stretch of sunny green ahead of her.

<Why so quiet, love?> Valery teased, after she had looked down into his cockpit before blasting off again. It wasn't common that she took the lead like this, so either these newly developed ships still had some kinks that needed to be worked out, or this was just Valery's day. Either way, she was having a great time, and hoped he was enjoying himself as well. Vera and the kids were watching, and no matter who won this little race, they were just happy to see their parents be awesome.

<Come on, let's show the kids what we got, hm?> Valery then added, her tone a lot less competitive, but still challenging to get the most out of her husband. The upcoming part of the track was a lot more difficult, so she could still mess up, or even crash and be forced to watch him win the race instead.

The horror.

With a more careful eye, Valery then approached the third part of the track, and slowed down just a bit to attempt a more safe passage. This was not the time to be reckless, as much as she loved just going with a pedal to the metal.

In the stands...

"Slower things?" Vera asked Shan with a mix of childish disgust but also curiosity. She loved going fast, and just didn't understand why anybody would want to go slow. Where was the fun in that? Yulon seemed to understand it as well, when he brought up the triplets and how they'd be excited to participate one day.

"Mhm! It'll be fun to race with them," Vera said with a big grin.

She could already imagine herself in the cockpit, racing against her siblings to determine who the best pilot was out of all four of them.

"As long as you're fine staying on the ground." Shan just nodded towards Loomi, giving a small smile. He wasn't going to pry, for all he knew that was the actual answer and there was nothing else to it as he folded his arms along his front.

As the ships flew past, Shan kept the smile on his face, deciding to add in a little bit extra.
"I hope whatever is distracting you is dealt with soon. Being unable to focus is never a fun experience." What was distracting Loomi? That was one of the questions that was crossing Shan's mind but he wasn't going to question her over it, or at least not in public. This was meant to be a day for relaxation as he turned his attention over towards Vera's questions.

The sound of disgust in her question actually made him chuckle slightly, as Shan tried to figure out how to word what he meant by slower things.
"Sure, being able to go fast is fun, with the rush of speed. But...sometimes it's also more fun to take in all of the surroundings." At that, he pointed his index finger directly at Vera, keeping his smile. "For example, if I was rushing around this place, zooming around and running, I wouldn't be able to notice your eyes, and how cool they are." Then Shan waved his hand over towards where the ships were, hoping he wasn't just blabbing on right now. "Going fast lets you get your excitement build up, but going slow lets you take in the sights."

Kahlil_Div2.png

There was no hope now. Kahlil let out a bemused chuckle as he watched Valery sail so far ahead that there was no chance of him to catch up. She was, without a doubt, the better flyer. But he wasn't going to go down without at least trying. So he threw down on the controls in a hopes that this straight line might actually do well for him for once.

Ryana sat there with pip her ark bandaged up as pip looked up at her and she looked back at the racyon kit as the young racyon sat there he looked around then hopped down and ran towards the grouping of Jedi and younglings sitting next to vera with some effort on the racyons part to get on the stand being small. He sat there his tongue sticking out as ryana groaned slightly before getting up seeing the young racyon make himself at home just sitting there as she approached "I'm sorry for pip he has a mind of his own as much as I try to train him" she said walking up to the loomi shan and the Noble children she felt embarrassed as her left arm was in bandages and a brace. "My name is ryana by the way nice to meet all of you" the young lethan twi'lek said as pip just looked at her still sitting there.

"My name is ryana by the way nice to meet all of you"

Loomi gave a meek wave to the new arrival, taking note of the racyon that had also arrived with her. She sighed a little. The Godoan had never managed to find one, regrettably, and she had no money to adopt one of the ones they had hand-bred. Maybe that was for the best. She'd probably make the thing sad.

"Slower things?"

"There's nothing wrong with going slower," Yulon grinned, chuckling a little at the child's reaction. "If you try to go fast all the time you'll burn out... or end up old and brittle like me." He paused, laughing slightly. "Not really that last bit, but it's always good to do things in moderation."

The Rishii seemed greatly amused by that last part. Loomi observed the man, furrowing her brow as she examined him. He certainly didn't look old and brittle. Thankfully, to her relief, Shan wasn't pressing. He simply gave his sympathy and continued on about why he preferred to go slower.

Should she say something? Probably not, right? What could she add to this conversation that was any more valuable than what had already been said. A frown came to her face as she awkwardly tucked her hands in front of her. She could barely stands still without feeling weird. Maybe it was for the best that Loomi just kept her mouth shut and listened instead. The last thing she wanted to do was say something ridiculous and be laughed at. The Godoan did let out a slight sigh, however. She'd much rather be out their flying where she only had to deal with her own thoughts.

Even if they put her in danger.
