I'm Not as Nice as She Was

“….”

Joza caught her lower lip between her teeth, mulling over Zef’s words in her mind. He was more experienced in the ways of the galaxy, and from the way he talked, he’d had more than a few clashes with Jedi. The more he spoke, the more uneasy she got. Had he been anyone else, she’d likely be facing him with a sneer and few harsh words of her own right now. But she couldn’t bring herself to do it, not in her current state.

To her, the Jedi simply fought against dark forces. She had steered clear of The Republic as she’d heard some not so great rumors about them, instead intending to become a Jedi in and of herself—nevermind the fact that she had been weakened by her own lust.

“But…some Jedi fight to protect others. That’s…I know a lot that do! That’s what I try to do…!” Her voice was gathering strength, but the resolve beneath it was weak. She’d put a lot of work into her chosen path, and to have it ripped apart by him was disappointing. Still, it gave her something to think about.

Her breath hitched in her throat again and her eyes flared at these words, but she shook her head shortly after. “Is it that crazy for me to want to seek out the father who knowingly abandoned me?” She bit back defensively, not wanting to look as weak as she felt in front of him. Even though he had a point, she felt the need to keep herself guarded.

Folding her arms over her chest, Joza looked away and to the side as she gathered her thoughts before refocusing on him. “Alright, old man. Then where do we go from here?” She cocked a challenging brow, though her posture deflated slightly.

Zef noticed how his sharper attitude had demoralized Joza which a few minutes ago was stirking him with unnatural punches. Punches that's strength were explained now when she had revealed herself to him as a Jedi.

Boy, Isley would love this.

When his friend finds out about this whole thing and how Zef's daughter is actually a real Jedi, the man woud be rolling on the ground laughing. Yet, Zef had nothing to laugh about. It was ironic, true. But the fact remained - he had abandoned his child for selfish reasons. Thinking that it turned out for the best for both of them was not making it feel any better. Especially when Zef realized that her appearance had turned her into something which he always exterminated when it appeared - a weak spot. No matter how sharp he had become at the conversation about bathrobes and those that wore them, the Mandalorian knew well he had no power here.

Absolutely no power.

He listened to her retaliation without uttering a word, she seemed broken by Zef's battering words and thoughts. The Mandalorian must not falter, though. No. No. Or he would've lost the fight and a weak spot would forever follow him till the rest of his days. He had to stay strong and stubborn as he always was.

It is your daughter, son.

Zef's body stood straight as if shocked by electricity, the hair on the back of his neck were erected and a cold chill passed through his body. Did he imagine that ? It was his father's voice. Zef focused more but he heard nothing. No. He had heard enough. One sentence gave him a lot of meaning. The red-haired pink-skinned girl that had torn herself apart because of him was his child. His only child. The sudden wave of memories of his caring father made his heart stop. Zef had taken everything and given none. He had not bestowed upon Joza that fatherly love.

Abruptly, he touched her cheek with his gloved hand, his T-Visor helm straight towards her eyes and with a grumpy tone spoke:

"You're my daughter." Four words with much, much more meaning. He then spoke, his normal sarcastic tone back, dropping his hand from her cheek. "Where do we go, little girl ? Nah. We go our own ways now. Yet you have to know, as much as pink as you are, you've got Mandalorian blood within you." Zef let her make whatever she wanted out of that statement.

And it will call you someday...Just like it did with me...

"I will soon see you again, kid. I am sorry we can't have more of our great reunion. Don't ask how I will find you. I have my ways."

The galaxy is a rough place for a Jedi...bathrobes won't be enough...
