I'm Sorry, Evelynn Can't Play Right Now

Nemene had been wandering through the halls of her palace when she felt the loss of Evelynns consciousness through the bond. Almost immediately a string of Panic shot through her. The poison would not end her sister, but that didn't mean the woman couldn't fall over and smash her head against a marble outcropping and bleed to death.

The Queen of Rattatak became very un-royal and began to sprint through the halls. Her heels were kicked off and an audible tearing sound could be heard as she tore the end of her skirts off.

The fabric fluttered in the air for a second, then came to a rest on the ground where it was trampled by six or seven Slaves who were following behind their Queen. Nemene used the force to make herself faster, and in no time at all she found her sister. She came to a sliding stop, dropping onto her knee's and scrapping them against the limestone surface. Blood poured from the small scrapes for a second before disappearing entirely...and reappearing on Evelynn.

Nemene cursed herself for a second, in a panic she had forgotten that bit of their bond.

Despite this Nemene immediately began to check over Evelynn's body. She searched for bruises, broken bones, and most importantly head injuries. When she found none she breathed a sigh of relief, turning to the out of breath slaves that turned around the corner. “Have her carried to her bed...and bring her bindings.”

It was hours later than Nemene sat on Evelynns bed once more, The Silent sister laying beneath her with her arms and legs bound to the bottom of the bed with thick leather straps. Nemene stroked her cheek with her right hand, having done so for nearly the entire time she had been here, finally however she grew impatient.

She smacked Evelynn in the face “Wake up!”

Her voice was accompanied with an icy chill of anger flowing through the bond.

Well that's always a pleasant sensation to wake up to.

Opening her mouth to instinctively groan no noise escaped her mouth with the exception of a laboured sigh. Her symptoms had decided to amp up their game, and she awoke to a crippling headache which rendered the best part of her mind rather useless. This was a fog that had no lifted itself since the affliction had began, and it was beginning to have a serious affect upon her judgement.

The girl had assumed her sister had need again.

Not now, Nemene.

Her telepathy itself sounded limp, completely lacking that usual frigid quality. She did not sound like a Queen, she sounded like a child.

It wasn't until the mute attempted to roll over that she realised what was happening, a fragment more of awareness and Evelynn finally realised that her Sister was angry. Finally opening her eyes, the girl gave a half-hearted tug against her restraints. There was no chance that she had the proper strength required to put up a decent struggle, so she opted to lay there, dejected.

...is this not a touch excessive?

No, Nemene currently did not have any needs at all. It was rare for her, but at this point she was actually genuinely concerned about Evelynn harming herself with these little jaunts to the library. The Woman could seriously die because of a fall, and that would not at all please the Queen. She frowned at her sister, clearly displeased.

“Is this how you plan on leaving me?” She finally spoke in response to Evelynn, the slaves had long since cleared the room. “By killing yourself!”

It wasn't a question this time, more of a statement. Nemene was clearly upset with Evelynn, even angry. “Each and every time you get out of this bed, each and every time you leave to go to on one of your little...jaunts, you risk collapsing and dying, whether by this disease, or a hard surface!”

Nemene was screaming now, a flurry of words coming from her as she tried desperately to make Evelynn understand.

“You're sick Evelynn. You simply cannot do these things anymore...” The last of her words were less harsh, and more sad. Her rage died down to a low simmer and she spoke with hurt in her voice, as if Evelynn had been trying to hurt her the entire time, as if Evelynn had done all this on purpose.

Tears flowed down Nemene's face, actual tears. The Loss of her sister, was not something she could bare.

Well this was unexpected.

Nemene was currently preparing to leap off of the diving board of sanity into the sea of delusion. It was a spectacular sight to witness. Did she really think that Evelynn was aiming to kill herself? For what purpose? To spite her sister? To leave her? Talking about two girls that didn't currently have their thinking caps on.

The blonde girl winced as her sister went full-banshee and screeched at her.

Even though her logic was far away in the land of make-believe Nemene at least had a point, but it was a soul crushing point. There was a horrifying chance the a dizzy spell in the wrong place could spell disaster, and being killed by falling down the stairs was hardly the most impressive way for a Sith to go.

You simply cannot do these things anymore.

These things?!

The guilt didn't manage to trip her.

You mean to say that I should remain here?! For how long, Nemene? Forever?! I don't think both of their brains are functioning properly at this moment. Technical difficulties, please standby. NO! I REFUSE!

Let me go, Nemene!

“No.” Nemene replied with a flat stare.

She didn't care how loud Evelynn got, how angry she became, how violent and cruel here insult would be. She would not be releasing her from her bonds any time soon. Until she learned her new limitations Evelynn had to remained secured, she had to stay in place to make sure she didn't end up hurting herself. To say that this pained Nemene, would have been a lie.

“Until you learn that you are unwell, you will remain in bed.” She spoke flatly, her eyes staring at her sisters with stark defiance. “Whether by your choice, or not.”

With that Nemene rose from the bend, checking each binding on Evelynn before turning about and walking out the door. She would leave Evelynn to her moods for now, eventually she would realize that this was in fact for her own good. She was sick, and the sick should not be trusted to run around on their own.

As she swept out of the room in torn skirts and bare feet Nemene clutched the double door's behind her, turning on partially as she spoke. "When you cease your tantrum, i will return."

With that she moved to close the doors.

One can only do so much when they were feeble and bound to their bed, escaping was not one of those things.

Her struggles were futile and almost so pathetic that they couldn't actually be classified as such, more like, whimperings, which as OpenOffice has informed me, is a new word. Nemene was going to leave her, and if truth were told the girl didn't want to be by herself. It would have been right and proper to apologise and ask nicely for her sister's company. I say it would have been.

DON'T LEAVE ME HERE TO ROT!

But it was too late, there door was closed and Evelynn was left to lay there and contemplate. Although that's exactly what she didn't do.

Upon a table in her chambers there lay a box. Ornate in detail and filled with a wonderful array of blades and hooks. Reaching out with the force, the girl attempted to pick up the case and bring it over through basic telekinesis. I say attempted to because this didn't really work out. With no concentration or strength to call upon the box only lifted slightly before she lost it and it came clattering to the ground, one of the wooden bird head's snapping off in the process and the contents of the container spilling out upon the floor.

It was no good. In her frustrations the girl forgot herself and tried to scream, a disconcerting rasping the only noise that escaped her throat. This short ordeal had drained her of any stamina she had left, so the ailing little girl sunk into her bed and let feverish sleep take her.

Nemene left her sister for a few hours. Going to her room and concocting more of the poison. The first time Evelynn had ingest more than sufficient amounts to keep her sick for days, she had quite literally licked Nemene clean of the stuff. Soon however it would grow weaker and weaker, and eventually Evelynn's mind would be able to function properly again. Such a thing of course could not be allowed to happen, and thus the Queen of Rattatak created more of the unique purple substance to feed to Evelynn.

After she had done this, and seen to it that the poison would be fed to Evelynn on a regular basis, Nemene elected to return to her no doubt rather defeated sister.

When she wandered into her room she found the blonde sleeping cozily on the bed, still bound in place by the leather straps, her chest raising and falling steadily. Nemene, despite herself smiled a warm pleased smile. Apparently the woman had tuckered herself out.

This time instead of smacking her awake, Nemene decided to allow the girl her rest.

She crawled into the bed, still wearing her torn skirts and bare feet. Eventually she found her way besides Evelynn, laying herself down and undoing the straps to her sisters right hand, though leaving the other three in place. She slid Evelynns arm around herself, and gently nestled into her side.

Then she waited.

Her dreams took her to her own personal island.

It was a tropical island, one could call it a paradise if they were into that kind of scene. A gentle breeze, lush trees bearing ripe fruit ready for the picking. An vast ocean surrounded the soft white sands. It wasn't a terribly large island, in fact it was about the dimensions of your average house.

This was hardly the stuff of nightmares.

A bit lonely though.

Very lonely.

---

Evelynn awoke from her pointlessly calm and almost soothing dream with a person in her bed. Naturally this person was none other than Nemene, I mean, who else was it going to be? Her mind still carried the dull eroding ache from before and her flesh was admittedly rather clammy.

The guilt trip caught up with her in that rather serene moment.

Her Sister was only trying to help her, I mean, she was only showing concern and what did Evelynn grant her in return? Venom. Rage. Not even thinking that if she had died then there would likely be dire consequences for her bond Sister. How selfish she had been...

Forgive me, Nemene. I'm not myself.

Nemene ran a few purple lacquered nails down Evelynns cheek, a smile growing on her marble smooth face. Through the bond she felt Evelynns sincerity, and that brought glee to her heart like nothing else. She enjoyed the apologetic feeling that Evelynn gave off, it was almost as sweet as outright hearing the woman say that she was right.

“It is alright.” She spoke soothingly, her voice like perfectly warm water flowing over cold skin. “You are sick, this disease...it is taking its toll on you in more ways than just physically.”

Nemene spoke with the authority of not only being a Sister, but a Doctor. She knew more about disease and poisons than most anyone on Rattatak, and Evelynn would have to accept that sooner or later, hopefully sooner.

“You must promise me my pet. Stay in bed, rest.” She spoke in urging, her voice sound somewhat desperate.

Pale orange eyes shifted away from her sister, and then towards the room around them. Her gaze drifted across Evelynns somewhat meager possessions, looking around until she spotted one item in particular, the broken box. Her eyes pulsed open for a second, and a spike of anger flared through her. She wanted to yell again, but suppressed it...barely.

Instead she looked to Evelynn, her voice more stern. “You must promise me to stay in bed. If you want books I will have them brought to you. If you want entertainment, I will have it brought. Do not leave this bed.”

No questions, only demands.

It wasn't exactly the easiest promise to make.

It felt like defeat, like apathy, as if staying in bed meant that she was giving up and simply letting her illness ravage her. Of course, this wasn't exactly the case, it just felt like it.

Feeling a surge of rage, Evelynn realised that her sister had gotten sight of the broken box. A pity, Nemene was so pleased with herself when she bestowed the gift upon her. Perhaps it could have been fixed. Perhaps she could have been fixed too. However laying in bed just didn't seem like the right way to do it.

She would need to trust her Sister.

Closing her eyes, the girl took a deep breath. I'm scared. This moment wasn't exactly easy to share, it wasn't easy to talk about but this was a vulnerable moment. I'm scared that I'm going to waste away. Just talking about the prospect made the girl fearful, and her slate eyes became misty. I've made it, I've made it this far...and...and...

...I don't want to be weak again.

Nemene remained silent for what seemed like an age. Her lips did not move, and her eyes did not budge away from Evelynn's, as though it were a game. She pondered for a moment, as if thinking of the perfect answer. Then finally it came, with warmth and love pouring through the bond.

“And you never again shall be....” The warmth in her voice was almost...overwhelming.

Oh how manipulative one could be here. Evelynn was desperate, and Nemene knew it. This would be the crux, this would be where everything lay. If her sister accepted her as a source of strength, then the poisoning had already been worth it. Dependency was a foul thing for the dependent, and once it began it would only grow worse and worse.

Nemene knew this, and it had been her plan all along.

“As long as you have me.” She almost purred the words.

Tender moments in this household were always a jarring experience to behold.

Blood, bondage and...benevolence? I think not. If only the girl know how she had just played her way into Nemene's hands, if only she had known the truth, she might have been able to stop this pivotal moment. If only. As it stood the blonde had no access to foresight and was thus completely unaware of this most devious of schemes.

As such she took her sister's words with not a hint of suspicion, only love.

With her only available hand the girl wiped the dew out of her own eyes with the back of her hand. Are you sure? As Evelynn understood it this was a serious commitment. This illness, they knew so little about it. What if she became so feeble that she needed somebody to wipe her own bottom? Would she still have Nemene then? What if her mind went and she would look upon her sister's face and just not remember? What if she died?

Her clammy hand moved to the other woman's shoulder. I don't want to become your burden. She gave Nemene's shoulder a small squeeze, which clearly indicated that while the Silent Sister didn't want to become her burden she had nobody else.

Evelynn needed Nemene.

Nemene began to soft stroke Evelynns cheek, her light nails grazing against soft skin over and over in a comforting soothing motion. There was a slight smile on her face, and a feeling of love poured through the bond, love, and devotion. She did not mind Evelynn being her burden, in fact she craved for it to be so.

“A burden?” Nemene chirped slightly, almost as if she was surprised by her sisters statement.

“No. Never a burden.” She leaned down and kissed her sister on the lips, once, then twice, then a third time. The last kiss was long and deep, as if meaning to silence the sick girl. “Never that.”

She said as Evelynn drifted off into sleep
~~
Nemene sat on railing of the balcony outside of Evelynns room, there was a small pad of paper in her lap and a small pencil in her palm. She traced the pencil across the paper in soft and heavy strokes, slowly drawing the image that she saw before her, Evelynn laying her in her bed, asleep.

The Queen of Rattatak had taken to sleeping in her sisters room. Having decided that the sickly girl needed near constant supervision Nemene had elected to take on the task herself. She now spent most days with Evelynn, either within the blondes room or escorting her to the library. Although truthfully it was rather boring for her it gave her a certain...control of Evelynn, and control was what she truly sought. So Nemene suffered through the reading of books, the petting of animals, and the constant meditation.

She suffered through it, for the sake of control.

It had been weeks since Evelynn had accepted her fate. Since her sister had finally accepted that her sickness was something that would not just go away. What she didn't know of course, was that Nemene would not allow it to go away.

She slashed a line across the drawing with a smile, everything was going so well now. Evelynn was cooperating, Rattatak was growing, and Nemene herself had become stronger than she had ever been. Her life was the picture of perfection. Her mood was such that she was practically singing, and as mirth and joy poured through the bond Evelynn would find herself with a very pleasant awakening.

So she slept.

Days blended into each other as Evelynn's new so-called life began.

The Silent Sister tried to keep up upon her old hobbies as much as possible, having to be constantly escorted and supervised by Nemene. Of course, Evelynn was aware that her bond sister didn't enjoy her more subdued hobbies, fortunately for her with the fog of pestilence still bearing down upon her mind she did not indulge in her meditation or her reading as much as she would have at full strength, simply lacking the endurance to do so.

This just meant more time spent in the menagerie, with the beasts, who had become noticeably more restless since she had succumb to her illness.

Rest reigned supreme over all hobbies though, and the girl spent the most time in bed.

With Nemene.

Surprisingly selfless Nemene.

Getting used to her sister's constant supervision and aid was causing an unfortunate dependency to form, the dark-haired woman was her crutch, and without her there she was truly crippled. Of course, being oblivious to any and all sinister intentions she saw this as ultimate devotion, care and love. Never before had she seen Nemene Talith in such a selfless light.

The girl woke, smiling softly, placidly as the joy sent through the bond washed over her, warm, pleasant. The mute had only just awoke but this was the healthiest she had felt in a long time. A glimmer of hope.

Good morning, sister, the young woman said happily before nuzzling into her pillow slightly. You're in a good mood.

Nemene set another line of thin graphite down onto the piece of paper, the edge of the bed coming into picture and a perfectly restful Evelynn laying atop it. She smiled slightly as she heard her sisters voice in her head, thin lips compressing ever so slightly as she drew another angle of the sheets that clumped themselves around the blonde woman.

“Am I?” Nemene said loud enough for Evelynn to hear her from the balcony. The paper made a slight scratching noise as the Queen of Rattatak began to draw the headboard, soft paper being pressed in with each stroke. “I had not noticed.”

She said the words almost absent minded, though they were a blatant lie.

“How are you feeling dearest love?” It was a question that Nemene had posed every single morning since the sickness had struck Evelynn, one that the blonde woman would be more than familiar with now. She never looked up from her sketch however, letting the pencil float over paper for only a few seconds more before finally letting out a loud sigh.

She smiled, satisfied with her work and then hopped off the balcony. Clutching the sketchbook tightly in her left hand she floated back into the bedroom, all smiles and glee.

Better.

The silent girl smiled to herself. While she was hardly near one hundred percent in terms of her health this was the best the girl had felt in so long. Oh, make no mistakes, Evelynn was still sick, her mind still felt that decrepit weight and those gangly limbs still ached but it was prominently lessened.

Shifting through the tangle of bedsheets the blonde finally sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the bed.

Much better.

Was it time to ruin Nemene's good mood? Evelynn pondered for a few seconds, weighing up the words she were about to speak. Were they a good idea? Would they hurt her sister's feelings? Would they sound ungrateful? They would definitely feel ungrateful, but...she had been cooped up for so long.

I think I'll be ready to take a trip to Panatha soon.

She paused, avoiding any and all eye contact with her bond sister and up to this point, her carer.

What...what do you think?

Nemene simply stared at Evelynn for a few moments, she stood at the foot of the bed and looked at her sisters, cold orange eyes showing conveying nothing but disapproval. The bond carried much the same feelings, disapproval and annoyance, but strangely not a hint of jealousy was within Nemene. It was almost as if she cared nothing for Panatha itself...or rather what was upon it, but only Evelynn's health.

“I will think on it.” She said the words curtly, almost dismissively as if such a thing was nearly out of the question.

She bristled slightly as she moved away from the foot of the bed, with soft clicking of heels she moved to the end of the large room, placing the drawing of Evelynn on a small chair in the corner of the room, displaying it prominently for her sister on the bed.

Slowly however Nemene turned back to her sister, furrowing slightly and then thinking for a moment.

“You are still unwell my heart. I do not want you to get worse just because you feel the need for one of your little jaunts.” She paused, realizing that she sounded rather harsh. Slowly she wandered over to the bed and sat down next to her sister, placing a warm hand on the girls cheek. “Give it a week. If you still feel better. I will take you myself.”

How kind the Queen of Rattatak's offer was, so kind that it would likely shock Evelynn. Too bad it would never happen.

It did shock Evelynn.

Already caught in the clutches of dependency the mute suspected nothing. Sometimes it seemed as if Nemene could have convinced the blonde girl that gullible was not in the dictionary, well, okay not quite but...perhaps in the midst of a high fever.

She looked to her sister, surprise mingling with optimism. Really?

Unfortunately the Silent Sister was leaning too much upon hope, in her mind there was no other option than getting better. With her head in the clouds of optimism she could not conceive the notion of getting worse. In a weeks time this sordid affair would be behind her and they would be on their way to Panatha.

Her moment of determination was batted away as she finally noticed the picture in the corner of the room, raising both brows Evelynn clapped both hands together, clearly delighted. She looked to her sister as the dark-haired woman caressed her cheek.

Oh, Nemene, it's beautiful.

Nemene smiled at her sisters optimism and delight, hiding the fact of course that she already knew there would be no trip to Panatha. Evelynn would not stay recovered for long, perhaps a day or two at the most, after Nemene had had her fun again. That was after all the most important thing here, for Nemene to enjoy Evelynn, for her to enjoy the control she now had over her sister.

A smile crept over her face and she stroked Evelynns cheek once more, then allowed her hand to fall onto the girls chest, running a nail down her naked form.

“It only captured half your beauty i'm afraid.” Compliments and the promise of a trip? She was indeed feeling generous. “Perhaps. Instead of taking a trip today, we can find something else to entertain ourselves with.”

Her hand found its way into Evelynn's blonde locks. Hair again intertwined with fingers and a light pull on Evelynn's scalp signaled Nemene's meaning.

-IMPLIED SOMEWHAT TENDER BUT STILL MASOCHISTIC LOVEMAKING HERE-

Louise

Her delighted smile became an extremely coy grin upon hearing her sister's flattery. Nemene really was up on cloud nine, perhaps even ten or eleven. Grin became smirk. Panatha may have been coming next week, but that was next week and they were in the now and the now demanded that extra bit of attention. Her sister's hand weaved throughout her hair.

A slight tug.

My, you are in a good mood.

---

The next couple of days went very much in the same vein as that moment, there was joy and ecstasy as energy returned to the girl, she was doing nothing but improving. Normality would resume. Ambition would return to her, as would power and this, this horrific blip in her life would becoming nothing but a sordid memory.

Well, that was her plan, in which there would be no fruition.

Slowly but surely, the haze upon her mind returned with a hideous vengeance and all Evelynn could do was watch helplessly as once again her health began to decline. Panatha was a dream, a fantasy for a girl who practically had to get carried to the library.

She withdrew into a shell.

During a session of rather laboured meditation, Evelynn found herself not in a serene state of mind but a void of despair. The sickness had become worse, much worse, the mute couldn't recall her ailment ever reaching this level. It was beginning to feel as if her mind was withering with each passing day. There was fear, a real fear for the future.

The young woman's head drooped forward slightly. She jolted, as if trying to prevent herself from falling asleep on the spot. Meditation was even becoming too much of an ask now.

A drip.

Her nose had begun to bleed, which was a symptom Evelynn had not yet experienced and an edge of panic immediately settled in the back of the girl's mind.

Nemene, it's getting worse!
