OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Spaceport Name: Imperial Designation 113 - Dathomir Spaceport
  • Location: Dathomir
  • Affiliation: Galactic Empire (Formerly) / Dathomirian Night Stalkers / Dread Wraiths
  • Classification: Standard Class
  • Population: Unstaffed/Automated
  • Accessibility: The spaceport is easily accessible by various ways.
  • Traffic: Insignificant
  • Description: The spaceport is nearly a carbon copy of most Imperial infrastructures with a few minor additions or removals. It's situated in an area of Dathomir that was rarely frequented visited by the Nightsisters, making it an ideal location for the Imperial spaceport.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Control Towers: There are several towers placed strategically around the spaceport to direct inbound and outbound flights. The control towers are the first line in security measures to prevent air collisions. Each tower is similar to a three-story apartment building, complete with all the amenities.
  • Repair Bays: There are three major sized repair bays and five smaller sized bays. The three major bays are for the bigger vessels, as the smaller bays for lesser sized vessels.
  • Communication Control Center Tower: Situated in the center of the spaceport is the communication control center tower. Its main priority is to communicate with the other control towers, and in extreme circumstances with pilots. It's essential the hub of the spaceport in terms of keeping the spaceport functioning at the highest level running efficiently.
  • Various Landing Pads: There are twelve landing pads in total, all various in size to accommodate landing ships.
  • Droid Maintenance Shop: Most of the backbone work fell to droids. The droids ranged from second-class, fourth-class, and fifth-class droids. As the bulk of the labor force, it was extremely important to keep the droids operational. The shop was a semi-massive complex, complete with every known technology related to droids.
  • Underground Maintenance Tunnels: Under the spaceport, there is a spiderweb-like network of tunnels that connects everything on top to one another. Its creation was to allow for the maintenance teams and workers to move quickly through the port without delays. Those that used these tunnels on a daily basis named the tunnels The Serpent; a jest of being swallowed by a giant serpent and passing through the digestive tracts.
  • Underground Maintenance Repair Center: Underneath the spaceport, a monumental sized repair center covered nearly 1/2 of the underground area. Using high-end turbolifts, bigger ships were brought down for repairs, mostly those ships were of the Imperial variety. Crews that worked in this center lived there in housing units.
  • General Center: This was the main body all visitors went through. If anyone parked on one of the landing pads, they were required to go through the inspection process.

SECURITY

None

During its glory days, the spaceport was defended mostly by security droids, with a mixture of a few stormtrooper corps. The spaceport's most important security came in the form of laser and proton turrets scattered in strategic positions.

Now without power to run these defunct batteries, they are nothing more than painful reminders from the Imperial Era.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

During the early years of the Imperial Era, the Empire was looking to strengthen their hold in the Outer Rim Territories, mainly the Dathomir System as the growing problems with the Nightsisters were never fully resolved even after Grievous' attack on the planet during the Clone Wars.

The spaceport was commissioned to act as both a trading or resting area and an Imperial presence to keep the Nightsisters in check. Passing civilian ships could come here to refuel, get repairs, enjoy the cantina with other gossiping pilots, and to sell or find work. For Imperial vessels arriving to the spaceport, they were given special treatment, top priorities over the civilian ships. Better repairs, better out fittings.

Shortly after the
Battle of Endor the spaceport fell into ruin from years of neglect and abandonment when the Empire fell across the galaxy. Whispers rose among the Nightsister Clans the place was haunted and cursed. First came packs of Dathomirian Night Stalkers moving in, followed by the horrifying Dread Wraiths. The spaceport is on occasion used by smugglers and pirates passing through, but not all that land in the spaceport leaves.
