In the Jungle the Mighty Jungle, the Lion waits to eat you...

"oooo that's a bit cold blooded don't you think, "she deserved it"" Bella made a face, she didn't know too many folks that really deserved death, well she had not encountered many that did. "But I understand it, when you hurt and for no reason other than you cared, you kind of want to hurt them back, just don't know how, and no why does it have to be compassion all the time, and who said it did?'

She looked at him watching now she could hear it in his voice honesty, "if you can be honest with someone who gets to see you with your clothes off, than the galaxy is having bigger problems than I thought" She smiled.

What had she done out of character lately she had to think about that, "Took on a battle I knew I'd lose" She had lost to the terentek on Korriban and it had hurt badly, very badly.

"But I don't want to remember that it, was confusing, still is." She gave half a smile, "Do you have family? brothers, sisters, children..?" Might as well get through the basic questions.

He smiled, a bittersweet smile. "Maybe just a little" He would admit, letting out a sigh. "I like to think people can change. But you'd think a year and a half relationship would keep someone from cheating so venomously, and so remorselessly, no? I regret that what happened happened, yes. I'm not exactly happy that a life is ended either. At the same time, I guess I'm not exactly as sad as I could be" He would admit with a shrug. "I look at it like I look at the slavers... I kill them without a second thought anymore because nobody will miss them. And if I don't, they'll just go after more slaves, and inevitably kill them for leverage if I run into them again. It's happened several times. It wasn't an easy decision, that's for sure. I like to pride myself in being non-lethal in my methods. Give people a chance. But when my chances are taken advantage of in the wrong way... Well...."

Though he smirked at the honesty with no clothes part. "I suppose so" He remarked amusedly. He was about to ask about her battle, but she'd changed the topic and clearly didn't want to remember it. When she asked about family, he shook his head.

"Had family. I mean, everyone starts with one, right? But they're not here anymore, in one way or another."

Not exactly. But, well... Indeed, in one way, or another, he really didn't have any family left.

"And yourself?"

Yes everyone started with some even she did even if they weren't all in the same place at the same time she had family. A big family. Famiily they she knew of and didn't know big. She looked at Josh seemed they walked similar roads, paths. She smiled though she really didn't know anything else if she let the anger run rampant the streets would run red with her pain. But she kept it together, there was no need to hurt anyone just because she hurt.

Family that was a story all by itself wasn't it, "I have two brothers, two sisters, and as far as I know still have a mother and father. course sometimes it depends on the whim whether I see them or not." She looked around, she looked around.

"So you're alone." It made her feel bad for him, "sorry to hear that. How do you cope with that?" She buried herself in projects.

"Work, generally" He spoke, shrugging casually. "I lost my family when I was young, so I kind of had time to adjust to the fact that the people who raised me were family. Well... Less raise me, I really did have to learn on my own" He would admit, scratching his head. "I got picked up by a group. They raised me, but they didn't raise me, if that makes sense."

It was hard to say it directly without saying where he was from and who he'd been taken in by. Today, he just wanted to be Josh. Not a Jedi Master, not a soldier, nothing. Just... Josh. That was what he wanted her to see on this date. Him, for who he was. If he could find someone who loved him for who he was and not for his affiliation... He'd be a happy man.

He smiled sadly. "You're lucky then" He said. "I'm almost a little jealous" He added with a light chuckle. "I almost don't remember what it's like to have a real family."

"OH I don't know sometimes family does things, says things, leave without warning, you know all those little things that make you crazy." She stared at the table for a minute, then two, by three she sighed.

"I'm estranged from them, that's not something you want to tell someone first time meeting them but hey nothing is normal about this yet. They live one kind of life, and I just don't see how I fit into that. You know, you say those people didn't raise you what you mean is they didn't teach you about family, they taught you survival. Least that's how I"m getting it. In that I was fortunate my father loved me, and taught me. He's was just real difficult to understand at times" Bella took a drink she was drinking more than usual.

She laughed, "I mean I like them all, and everything, I just don't understand them" How to understand someone you hardly knew. It was crazy.

"Oh, I know. I really do know" He remarked with a laugh. He couldn't go into detail beyond that, but... Well, his family wasn't exactly dead for that matter... Just gone. One of which lived to torment his very existence and quite literally worked against him. But he wasn't lying either. His brother himself was dead, more or less. Nothing remained of the brother he knew when Josh was young. He was long gone.

He listened as she talked about her family, and to her opening remarks, he would shrug. "Hey, I've been painfully honest about things I shouldn't say on a first date either, but if you're fine with them, I'm fine with yours" He would openly admit casually. He would continue to listen, and nod along with it. "I see" He spoke.

"And... What exactly do they do that you don't understand?" He would inquire, taking a drink, as he looked to see if their food was close to finished yet.

What did they do? what do they do?

"The want me to be a good girl so they can marry me off to someone who I don't know, won't like, and don't want to know about while they sit all pretty directing them my way. I think they should take their own advice" She drained the glass, and poured another.

"I'm fine, honest is good. that way there is no confusion on any of it, at all" she looked at him again, "do you have people giving you advice like that?" he had to here he was on a blind date.

"Ah, controlling. Not letting you be yourself. I can understand that" He spoke with a nod in turn as he took a casual sip of his drink. "The desire to be who you want to be is an interesting thing. The desire to control the destinies of others is yet another. They both cannot co-exist. And that leads to strife, such as what you see now" He would add, taking a deep breath. He couldn't imagine being... Actually he could. The old Order was just like that before he'd left. Wanting him to be someone he wasn't...

"Not really. People tend to give me bad advice, especially for dating" He remarked with a laugh as he noted the food arriving. "Many times, I tend to just have to follow my heart and mind."

"I can't remember the last time I really did that. Seems most of my life has been about duty, honor, and ensuring when I give my word I follow through. Maybe I should just run off and do something wild that way they will see I'm not happy"

Who would see? Hmm Arianna who could barely look at her, Faith who was busy running around the Republic playing good girl, Alyesa who did whatever she wanted when she wanted? Right...anyone of them would hardly even know she had stepped out of the galaxy. Good thing she didn't have their last name.

"Eh wouldn't change anything." She looked at the glass.

"Should have ordered dessert first, don't you think?"

He chuckled in turn. "For me... I've done what my heart says is right. I spent my life serving something because my heart and mind said it was the right thing to do. When my heart and my mind no longer said that this was the right thing... I left to go and do so on my own. And in doing so... Well, I found out just who my real friends were. Unfortunately, that number was... A lot smaller then I imagined" He would admit, frowning a little.

To her remarks, he shrugged. "I wait until afterword. Sure, the wait's a little longer, but no point in ordering dessert if you don't know if you'll be hungry by then or not, aye? If I'm hankering for desert, then I'll definitely order some" He spoke

He smiled a bit, then decided to dig in now that the food had arrived.

[member="Arabella Darkhold"]

"Yes but if dessert is the treat if we do not know when we are to meet our end would it not be best to have the treat first and the the meal?" She was definitely in favor of creating the dessert first club.

She began to eat as well, slowly so she could taste her food, though dessert was still on her mind she looked over waiting for his response.

Least he had friends, she could count hers on one hand, or a few fingers.

At this point, so could he. He'd lost pretty much all that he had in the last few years. He'd seen the Order he loved and served crumble... His friends die or betray him... His family crumble... In many ways, the Jedi Master had nothing left to live for, but to serve this galaxy and protect it's peace...

Was that really a life to live?

He couldn't help but laugh though at her remarks. "Well, I suppose everyone has differing opinions. I try to be careful with credits, seeing as my line of work doesn't pay much. I have other business ventures that keep me afloat quite well, but... Yeah. I can't be wasteful. DGet into bad waste habits, and all of a sudden my pays gone and I'm stuck on some backwater planet with no fuel" He remarked with a chuckle. "But that's just me. I wait to see if I want dessert before having dessert. And for me, having it first might ruin the main course. Of course... I've had a long trip, so I'll probably end up ordering dessert nonetheless. But old habits die hard" He added with a laugh.

And with that, he continued to dig into his meal.

"And that is the problem" Bella smiled, "you wait to have fun. Dessert is fun, it should not be a thing where you have to decide whether you want it or not. You do this with life too don't you? You wait even on simple things, is this correct?"

Bella took a bite of her own food chewing slowly to savor the food but also waiting for Joshua to answer. This was the issue with many people she encountered they wanted to wait to be rewarded for doing something

The Jedi would shrug in turn at her remarks as he casually chewed his food. Once he swallowed a bit of his food, he would speak in return. "I suppose so. I guess I just look at it as someone who before recently, could very rarely afford dessert to begin with. Dessert is a luxury, in a way. One I could not afford, prior. So it's kind of a habit, I suppose. I eat, and if I'm still hungry, I order dessert both because it's fun, and because I'm hungry enough that I'll eat it all and the credits spent will be worth it. If I order dessert and aren't hungry enough to eat it all, well... It goes to waste, no? Waste of food, waste of credits, but... That's just me" He explained with a light chuckle.

"I didn't have much growing up, so this is just kind of standard fare for me. Even now, having luxuries such as dessert more on the regular are new and exciting things for me. But.... Well... Old habits die hard, right?"
