In the Presence of Mine Enemies (Open, Senate)

While Ben was not happy that the Senator had decided to stay, there was nothing he could do about it, he had not technically done anything wrong. He was more worried about anything stupid happening, though he doubted it would, be he had seen crazier assassination attempts. He begged the force that nothing like that happened today, this was not the time nor the place for the Republic making the news, a Senator assassinated in the Senate. That would not go over well with the citizens of the Republic. If the Senators weren't safe, then how could they be safe?

"As you wish, Senator." Ben responded when he decided he was staying, preferring to stand instead of sitting, just in case Jaxton tried to do anything brash. They could not make a mockery of themselves on this day. The Empress spoke again, this time directed at Ben and Jax, talking about them pulling rank on the Senator. Great, this is exactly what he did not want, now he had the Empress making him look bad for no reason at all. What did he expect, though? Standing quietly, he waited as the proceedings continued, hoping everything went smoother.

Hanna, didn't have much more to say but she didn't like that he was missing quite the point of her action. " I was proposing that the jedi, continue to handle the desertion it self as any branch of the military does, of course if arrested, they will like any deserter answer to their own superiors. But the committee, will decide with jedi input, how the jedi should approach the issue, and how the rest of the republic will help in said situations, and who should be notified. I am not arguing the issue of registration, Do to the terms of the merger, the Jedi are largely responsible for their own as is the Navy, and the Army. I don't see any reason to change that, and only propose that we help them draft a procedure for handling said issues to ensure they are handled in a matter that is reasonable to the Jedi and the rest of the Republic. I am sure the Jedi already have a registry, that if they wish as a measure of good faith insert into public records after a certain time period, like we do with Navy and Army records, I would commend them. but I think you are proposing something already done, as what organization would not know the common records of its own members, perhaps you should file with the Jedi Council a request for access to such information when relevant, but I see at this time no reason to request said information. "

“You again bring up the same point that my bill makes Vice Chancellor” Sammael spoke in the most respectful tone he could muster, which surprisingly was quite a bit. Before he went on however he looked to the two Jedi behind him, he hoped that neither of them decided to stab him.

For a few seconds he though about not going on, with Ashin here it was perhaps not the greatest time to discuss the inner-workings of the Republic, however before he said anything he had to make his point.

“All I ask is for the Jedi to show us their records. You stated before that both the Army, and Navy do this with us. We Senators if we so choose are able to take the information of any soldier, officer, or otherwise enlisted within our military and view it. This is standard procedure. And again, before you said that the Jedi have integrated into our military. So whats stopping them from giving us their records?” Sammael made his point, and then he shifted to another subject. With the Empress here it was not the time to talk about this.

“But perhaps...with our esteemed guest here it is not the time to talk about the inner-workings of our Republic.” Sammael shifted towards the Empress and stared her dead in the eye. Wry amusement ran through him, as he thought about who he actually was beneath his new face.
