Interest Check: Senate Committees

[member="Geral Varta"] [member="Caius Flavian"]

I think we're getting too into it now. Infrastructure encompasses a large purview. If we want to have select subcommittees on more specific things, like a Subcommitee on Education, Subcommittee on Economic Development, or something of the like, we can totally do that. The intent of these committees is to be broad.

"Hard" infrastructure refers to the large physical networks necessary for the functioning of a modern industrial nation, whereas "soft" infrastructure refers to all the institutions which are required to maintain the economy, health, and cultural and social standards of a country, such as the financial system, the education system, the health care system, the system of government, and law enforcement, as well as emergency services. Committee on Civics & Infrastructure, anybody?

As for the economy, I'll give you guys free reign on this. I have no strong opinion, and whatever you go with I'm cool with, so long as it isn't communism or something of the like.

I think designating subcommittees is going too far, we just need to clarify which committees cover which aspects of government.

I'm focused more on what will produce and facilitate RP. The original intent of the committees being not to provide an IC means of governing a population, but more to provide OOC means of fluid RP facilitation.

Therefore, your suggestion to bundle general infrastructure with social programming (health care, education, etc) works toward that goal.

I'll sign on to chair that committee, there's a lot I can do with it RP-wise.

EDIT: As for economy/gov. structure, democratic socialism makes the most sense if we're following the example of RL Core Nations like the UK or US. I think "Selectivism" is the Chaos version of "Communism" and we all know how that turned out. Lasedri was a Selectivist (it was her brain child, actually). lol

While by no means will it ever be too late to join a committee, I think it's time we got these finalized.

These will be the final committee rosters pending anyone wishes to switch or be added to another committee. Those with a (c) will be the chairperson of that committee and responsible for organizing committee meetings and hearings.

Normally I'd say sure, but seeing as to how I'm on an extended LOA I don't think I'd be very good at maintaining it until such a time when my LOA ends or I have regular free time to do so.
