Introducing a wound

Heya erryone!

I'm a long-time sith fanatic, hardcore TIE Fighter, and old hat RP writer, finally deciding to push that childhood star wars RP into some free time here and there. I thought I should run a few things by whomever it concerns ere I make my first char, as I'd like him to fit in nicely.

I'll spare you the copypasta long-version bio I normally use 'til I post the char proper, but I'll lob a few bits here that might need changing. Firstly, assuming we're setting this as "New Order Era" (I haven't worked out the timing of this RP properly yet), my character would probably have ESG armour w/ purple instead of red trim, two force pikes, a heavy blaster, and a TIE/IN RG. I'm not sure whether that would be too much for an initial character or not, so I thought I should check.

Secondly, I'd be planning to make a force sensitive char, but I know you've got to start at padawan. Considering my backstory (coming up), I was wondering if he could have a low-level force drain at all? Mebbe just drain essence or something, and perhaps empathy/foresight to some slight degree? I'm thinking maybe five seconds in the future, as opposed to five minutes, haha!

Thirdly, I'll re-jig my story so he hasn't mastered lightsaber forms yet, but is Eriadu OK to know? Also, can you have slight fundamentals without knowing a style? My char would be aiming at learning Makashi, Juyo, Jar'Kai, and Tràkata, so I was thinking a rudimentary knowledge gleaned from training would not presupose "knowing" the style. By this I mean, Makashi would equate to being a more "turtle" esque fighter as opposed to any specific moves, Tràkata would mean the basic iaido "draw, cut sheathe" maneuver was being worked on in his spare time....fundamentals, y'know? Again, if this is a touch too close to the mark, I can leave it out.

Anyways, beyond that, I know you can't RP main chars (which is good), but I'm not sure how close your char can be, or how/whether EU filters in. Ergo, I'll post a short version of my basic bio arc for your consideration, and I can fix it ere the write-up if there's any problems.

tl;dr Bio:

Fujari Pirate, captured and trained as a stormtrooper.
11 conf kills in first week, got shipped to Yinchorr for Royal Guard training.
Lost right eye @ The Squall, exhibited force abilities, tagged for Shadow Guard.
Preached at and drank w/ associates then they visited the academies.
They shoehorned him into the Secret Order of the Empire.
Gets news of Endor after his initiation ritual, goes off w/ Kir Kanos for a while.
Acts as Kir's fifth wingman, oblivious to the fact that means he was expendable.
Leaves Kir when Tav does, leaving a message that is never read, joins The New Order.
(in headcannon,His CV puts him straight up to Knight of Ren, but I'd just plan to aim for it over a long period in this RP)
Gets Nihilus' right glove from Snoke as gift for keeping the faith....
...at least, that's what it said in the letter from Hux that was a week late....
Obsessed w/ the idea of traitor Guardsmen still lurking somewhere.
Searches for them and his old associates, the former to kill, and the latter to make life-or-death offers.
(SPOILER: They won't remember him. Any of them.)

So yeah, that's the basic idea, and there's a fair amount of wiggle room. Obviously I'd need to seek out The New Order in-game here, so I thought I'd put him at the "looking for New Order" stage. Obviously his "Nihilus' glove" is a fake, but he doesn't think it is. I love having a schadenfreude element to a character. And if the whole Kir side is too much, I can literally cut all that out and just keep him as an ESG guy that went straight to TNO afterwards. It just would cut a bit of flavour from the char, no biggie.

Anyways, looking forward to getting involved. It'll be nice to go back to board rp after the hectic pace of IRC rp. More time to ponder and play with ideas. I'll keep an eye on this thread o'er the weekend, then collate info and post my char next week, methinks.

Take a look at our timeline stuff -- we're currently about eight centuries after the New Order. I came from another board and had to adapt some of my characters to this place's timeline; a lotta people did. But it's all worked out well.

As for an Apprentice knowing minimal Force Drain and owning some Royal Guard gear and such, nobody's going to bat an eye. Character profiles don't require approval and don't get policed unless someone goes way off the rails. We also take character transfers if you've got proof of rank or someone to vouch for you.

An actual staffer will probably be along shortly with more welcomes and details and suchlike, but in the meantime, welcome aboard, man.

Oh, OK, well I'll check the timeline stuff and use it to amend my story. This could prove interesting indeed!

EDIT: I had a look through, and it helped me orient my char a bit more. One thing I must say, though: whomever wrote them really needs to remember when to use "its" or "it's". Also, the phrase "none of the envoys were ever returned" makes the "Virus Spreads" paragraph far too ambiguous, as if we're talking about sentient spacecraft.

Oh, yeah....shoulda mentioned I'm a Grammar Nazi to begin with, I guess....no offense meant!

Welcome to CHAOS. Enjoy the sandbox.

Per your questions. Yeah, those gear and skills are fine. Like Ajira said, we don't police Character Profiles unless you've gone absolutely crazy. Lulz. Enjoy the new timeline dude. :D

Welcome to the Chaos!

Have fun, and keep the questions coming if you need help at any time.

:)

OK, two quick questions:

I've made my first character, Jaquel Rainrix, and I'm thinking that, beyond learning his saber forms and force drain down the line in a training arc, and despite his "preacher" tendencies, he's going to work more as a double agent, sometimes blurring the lines. Preacher to Imps, pirate on the Rims. That being said, my backstory presupposes imperial membership, and whilst I'd prefer to link up with the First Order to begin with, I can't find them in the lfg section. I was wondering if I could /r/ a link, and check if that's an OK way to start up. I was planning to enter to an Open RP after some lurking to begin, but I want my char formed ere he takes his first steps into the big, bad galaxy...

Secondly, considering he's using two force pikes and a heavy blaster pistol as well as wearing ESG armour, should I be searching the Foundry for items to tag onto him? Does it mean I've got to make my TIE/IN variant in there as well? The inventory system here isn't something I noticed on the way in...I don't mind either way, just thought I should check..

So yeah, two admittedly double-barreled questions, but I thought it best to ask here instead of clutter my character page. I can always retcon the bio a tad to better suit wherever the chips happen to fall.

First question and faction page link.

http://starwarsrp.net/groups/512-the-first-order/

Assumption of membership happens all the time and I wouldn't worry about it.

Second question.

Items that are cannon(legends) really do not require submission to the Factory. It this case a lot of people just link the Star Wars Wiki article for them. Unless there is something special about them that makes them better than the cannon version. Then running it through the factory may be a good idea. Not sure what ESG is but depending on the materials used it may not be a big deal.

OK, I've been lurking a bit and I've found a couple of threads I'm interested in. Obviously I'll only put my char into one thread at a time, but I'm keeping my eye on them for a mo ere I decide which to commit to.

In the interim, I've been looking through the foundry and the only armour that suits what I was looking at was this, colourswapped and minus the atmospheric resistance or oxygen supply, 'natch. Problem is, I'mnot sure if that would be enough nerf to put such an item in my character's grasp, and as such thought it best to check here first. If it isn't, I can just downgrade the Phrik to something less rare, as to be honest I have no idea of armour scaling in the SW universe. Can't say I've ever thought beyond a Stormtooper helmet, really...

The force pike was easy enough to find a base for, I merely need to take 10cm off the length and be specific about its construction. It was the combination of a vibro-blade head and a stun sheath which really brought me to the weapon in the first place, tbh. The only problem here is my character's using two, but is a frail character, as I hadn't accounted for the weight being an issue in this system.

I only planned to use the other as an interim until I got my shoto, and would be used as an off-hand defensive weapon, as a tanto would in Two Heavens style. I'm thinking to make this better for this system, I might use one force pike with my heavy blaster as a quick-draw, and use two weapons as a thing for my training arc later. Just explaining that so the change in my character sheet and ideas for further dvelopment have been stated.

Any problems, please let me know. Otherwise, well...I've got a new PC coming tomorrow if all goes well w/ the delivery, so I'll probably post something via my character account by the weekend.
