He ran his fingers through his hair, combing it by hand and ensuring that it was neatly in place. Then he turned to her. "Better?"

It probably wasn't but he doubted that Rose would care very much if his hair was messy or not. This message wasn't live either, so its not like they couldn't try again later if they messed up the first few times. He smiled at Danger, wrapping an arm around her and planting a kiss on her cheek.

There was always a hint of apprehension when he sent these messages, a small question of what he was expected to say.

He supposed that his daughter really just wanted to know if he was okay, if everything was going well enough and if he was getting along. He was, but he always wanted to include something extra for her, he always wanted to give her something that would make her the tiniest bit happier. He supposed that all fathers had that urge.

“Reckon it will do,” Danger said with a chuckle, watching small tuffs of his hair already returning to their original state. It suited him just fine, if you asked her. He had certainly grown well in his age, most men do. Even with the glints of silver in his air, the weathered visage and the scattering of scars, there was still something distinguished about him. Distinguished edged with certain devilry if you caught his eyes just right.

Once he sat down beside her, her hand instinctively sought his. A simple gesture really, a slide of her palm against his, the interlocking of fingers. Encouragement and support. Small tokens of appreciation and affection. With a faint smile, she would fluff her hair with her other hand.

A thought came to her then, and then the redheaded minx would say as the Tetan adjusted the holorecorder.

“Maybe if this goes well, we can practice perfecting holo recording techniques.”

Ah, the banter never did end.

He smirked slightly.

"Oh?" His voice was sweet, like honey. He pulled her closer to himself. "What kind of practice are we talking about here?"

Perhaps that was a bit off topic, but that was what often brought their banter to a head. The fact that the two of the could speak so openly without ever saying what they meant was enjoyable, though briefly he wondered if the two of them would ever grow tired of such things and just be blunt. Generally when they did, they were yelling at one another.

For one reason or another.

“The kind your daughter shouldn’t really hear about,” she teased by his ear, giving a light chuckle. The squeeze of his arm around her would relax her more. A nod to the holorecorder would bring back the focus to the task at hand. Her fingers would give a gentle squeeze against his.

“Alright, how many times do you figure we’d have to make to get this right?” she joked, watching him finish setting up. His good mood was infectious. All she had to do was keep focusing on that and everything would be fine. Taking a deep breath, she shined the Tetan an encouraging smile.

It was time.

"Just one should be enough, really. We're not explaining particle physics to her, just saying hi." He smiled at her, and squeezed her hand in return. that really was the truth, though particle physics likely would have been an interesting topic of conversation as well. Rose had always been smart, scientist smart really. He had often suspected that if Rose hadn't had the force she would have become a scientist of some sort.

Though, perhaps that was just wishful thinking on his part.

Every father had a vision for what his children would do, an ideal that they would like to see come about. Funnily enough, his had always been that his daughters would find something they were good at, something that didn't require violence or a thirst for power. Maybe both of them had now found that, maybe both of them were now clear.

"Alright." He said finally. "Let's start."

The moment of truth!

Alric went leaning over towards the array, and with a press of a button, sealed their fate. Granted, not as omnious as one would figure, it was just a holorecording. It wasn’t even live. Yet Danger couldn’t help the flutter of koros butterflies in her belly again.

There was a five second timer to allow the user enough time to get settled and ready. Making herself a bit more comfortable, Danger drew back from Alric a bit, sitting straighter. A small gesture, but it was done so as to not seem overly close in the recording. Things… yeah, it would look strange if she did. She kept holding his hand none the less, and before they knew it, the blinking red light went through it’s count down.

Recording…

He smiled. It was the first thing he did, the first thing he always did when he started one of these recordings. It was a way of ensuring to Rose that he was okay, that everything was fine, a quiet signal that she could relax and not worry. There had been hundreds of messages over the Months, and each one had started with a smile.

"Hi, Rose." His voice was strong, confident. "Everything is okay here. I've been doing well, Lily is good, though I'm sure you know that. The company has been doing well. Like I said, everything's fine. I thought I'd do something different for this one. I thought that maybe you'd like to meet the woman that I've been spending so much time with."

He cast his eyes over to Danger and squeezed her hand. "Honey, This is Danger."

Alric gestured to her, a smile on his face.

Just like that, Danger was in the spotlight.

“Hello there, Rose,” a warm greeting and a genuine smile that shone behind the black spectacles she wore. She gave a small wiggle of fingers and a wave, the smile lingering on her lips. It was such an odd feeling, and even despite it being a recording, the flutter of nervousness would continue to linger in her belly.

“Heard y’ous wanderin’ down the Southern Systems there. Hope y’all havin’ a grand time.” her nervousness would thicken her drawl, a tell for those who knew her well. Only came out when she was fired up as all hell or feeling overly emotional.

“There’s some good places out there to visit out yonder.” a knowing smirk then drew in slight remembrance of her own youth. Being a Captain of a freighter for a few years had her experiencing the ‘Verse in a whole new level ‘fore she took over for her daddy.

“Plenty to run afoul too.”

He couldn't help but smirk a bit as her accent was forced out more, the tenor of her tone and the inflection of Tatooine pressing through every word.

It really was quite amusing, but perhaps a bit cruel to laugh at her this way. He tried to stifle it as much as he could, though doing so proved a tad difficult before she finished. He smiled at her, then cast his glance back at the recorder. "Danger is from Tatooine, honey."

That would signal something to his daughter, if she hadn't already realized.

"She knows a lot about that part of the galaxy." He smiled again, and squeezed Danger's hand. "I wanted you to meet her, or rather, at least see her, know who she is. Danger has done a lot for me, has helped me through things, and she means a lot to me. I want both you and Lily to know that."

An elbow to his ribs came swiftly, and perhaps even comically so for the recording. Rose would be apt to wonder at just how easy going they were, or perhaps feel a measure of relief that her father was doing alright. At the present point, with Danger drawling how she was combined with the glasses, mused hair, and the comfortable clothes, it would be hard to pin her as the usually posh Southern Conglomerate business woman.

For the now, she had every appearance of a typical spacer woman in her late forties, but with a vibrancy that made her shine. As it was, the half glare that had been sent his way would wane at his elaboration. One would see the softening in her expression, and perhaps, a bit more than that. She squeezed his hand.

Turning back to the holorecorder, Danger's mouth would curve anew.

"If you've a need of anythin' down those parts, don't hesitate to call on your father. He'll give me a hollar and I reckon I can help out in a way or two." that's putting it lightly, but she didn't want to elaborate on that. Odds were that Rose wouldn't take her offer, but Danger wanted it out there anyways.

He smiled at Danger, then at the Camera.

Alric also doubted that Rose would take Danger up on her offer. Not because Rose would dislike Danger after this message, but because his daughter was a stubborn girl who already thought of herself as right. She didn't need help, she didn't want help, and anything of the sort was rejected outright. Of course she had taken equipment and plenty of money from Alric, but he figured she saw that more as reparations rather than help.

"Alright." The Tetan said with a smile. "I think that's enough for now. If you have any questions, anything you want to know, just ask in your next message. I'm always here, and I'll tell you anything you want to know."

He didn't know if Rose would want to know more, if she would want details on Danger or their relationship, but it didn't matter.

Alric would always tell her the truth.

With that, they were done. The green line turned red, and a small file would blink up on the holodisplay to relay the length of the holofilm. She bit her lower lip, and it was then that she realized she had been holding in. With a whoosh, she gave an exhale. As soon as she did a laugh went bubbling out. Nerves, surely, and her hand ran through her hair again.

With a crooked grin, turned to him.

"Well... reckon that wasn't too bad." she told him -- although granted, this came with her lifting herself up and scooting over. Particularly with a swing of one leg so she was facing him, her back to the holo. Her arms went sliding round his neck.

"Now Mistah Kuhn," her eyes would glitter a vibrant green. "What was all that snickerin' about?"

Ah, payback.

"Why nothing, Miss Arceneau." Alric said as if he was abashed she would even asked. "I was simply thinking of a funny story from my daughters childhood."

He would invoke the name of his daughter to get away with the laughter he had put up earlier. He thought it might work. Danger was by no means guilable, but she knew Alric loved his children, and she herself loved them in her own odd little way. It was a worthy ploy when one looked at it from that perspective. "You know how kids are, little rascals."

Alric smirked at her, planting a kiss on her before she could respond.
