Feel free to focus on what happens on the ground.

We'll see what happens in the after. There are already NPC starfighters and coral skippers in the skies that people are more than welcomed to rp in the background if needed.

Cira's right, you can NPC pretty much anything. I almost always use NPCs when I RP with any of my characters. They provide much more story, capabilities, and creativity to literally any situation you can think of. Personally, I use naval officers to continue to command and maneuver fleets while Darth Arcis is using Battle Meditation.

But yeah, feel free to take what forces you need. If you're going to rescue people, I'd say company sized is perfect. No need to take an entire battalion to rescue one person, so you can do misc objectives around there too.
