[Invasion of Manaan] - Objective 1 - Generators

There's two stories at work here, as there have always been.

One story is 'we're better than you and therefore we will win.'

The other is 'I don't care if I get karked up so long as the story is good.'

Until the latter becomes the former, y'all will continue to be outgunned >.>

[member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] It's just how you play the game. Like [member="Meeristali Peradun"] said. If you get a great story going, with drama, development, learning, and maybe a little surviving? Haha. It all works out for the better.

Rev's character was just naturally 100 times more powerful than mine. And we both played it straight. That's just how it goes. He built a powerhouse who lives for saber combat, and I built a Jedi Knight who's just kinda normalish. Haha. You win some, you lose some.

Trust me. I've seen some pretty crazy stuff. From Force Sensitive Dragons, Singing Laserwhips, to Shadow Tenticals of Etheral Insta-Kill. Rev might have balked at my shield tactics, but I'm not the one using a Force Barrier of Firearm-Invulnerablity. Haha. And that's not a knock. He's welcome to it. I'm just not going to go Super Sayjin to keep up with his style of writing. No biggie.

It's not whether you win or lose. It's how you play the game. :D :p

*Karen draws her sword*

*The Sith opponent summons ridiculousness*

*Umm. Karen's writer knows where this is going and bows out of the thread slowly.*

I kid you not. I've been in some weird duels Tails. Weird man. Just weird. :D :p

[member="Sam Jhovna"] Don't get me wrong I wasn't saying he wasn't being fair, I was just making the observation in general. There's a difference between actually having the feasibility to do said things and write them properly, versus simply refusing to take hits in any sort of manner. Some of the posts I've seen on the invasion thread are exactly that, the refusal to let anything bad happen to their character, or even their completely irrelevant NPCs in any sort of the term. Makes writing with that person seem pointless, as it's a never ending cycle until you eventually give in to them.

PS: That tentacle thing is super creepy, and I would have bowed out of that the moment I read the word tentacle.

Ah. It's cool you can make that kind of observation and remain positive about it. In my younger years it drove me nuts to no end. But... Then I realized that I had to get beat up a few times before I could really enjoy the process of dueling. It's just about people and perspective. I think you're doing great. Keep it up. :D

[member="Seraphina Shel'tah"], you are doing great! I know you are up against some odds, but I do think your opponents could be taking more hits than they are. It's not exactly sportsmanlike of them, but you're taking it like a champ and I hope we can conjure up some good writing to hit them hard with creativity over Force jargon and 'stats' next time! :)

Also, us tailheads need to meet. :p

My 'I'm getting my ass handed to me' post being said, it's Stali's first invasion, his first encounter with Sith, and certainly the first time he's seen Vong anything. And that being said, I'm still going to maul that little woman.

It's a steep learning curve. He's a new knight. I think he's doing alright, considering. And mark my words, should he get the crap kicked out of him, he won't let it happen again so easily.

And he'll pass that on to others.

[member="Sam Jhovna"] I like to think I'm a pretty positive person. I don't really care much if I win or lose. I just want people to read it and find it interesting. If not, I am just writing for my own ego at that point. Those types of books don't usually sell well. It should be fun for everyone, otherwise there's no purpose behind it, and I would rather choose just to back out of the fight and declare it a loss.

I take a lot of time and effort (30-40 minutes) to write each of my posts, and I generally have the person I am writing with last response up on my other monitor so I make sure that I touch on everything they had did/said so that it flows. That's just my own style and it's certainly fine that most others don't do that. My biggest gripe with the ending of my thread in the invasion was that Praelior didn't even take the time to read the last 4 or so posts between Xhex and I before suddenly appearing out of the mist, and writing about things that hadn't happened in the last 4 posts, and then more or less mocking [member="Corvus Raaf"] and [member="Sressechka"] , by blatantly denying their posts and refusing to acknowledge any type of hit, and then made an OOC passive aggressive mockery to the two at the end.

I don't like stirring trouble, and perhaps it wasn't Praelior's intent, but it's certainly frustrating.

Sigh...End of rant. I'm sorry. TL;DR: God-Mode is lame.

Oh, and yes, [member="Sressechka"] they do need to meet! Sera could use a species friend! Xhex has been awesome, I enjoy writing with her. I intend to continue, just made an overarching observation regarding what I've seen thus far. Unfortunately I don't think the two will likely meet in the invasion. Sera's out of this war as soon as she drags her soggy hide to shore and finds a drop ship to take her home. Cut open and missing 1 saber is like losing a hand to her...single bladed Ataru for the lose.

[member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] Haha. It's fine. It helps to get it all out. Come tomorrow you won't even remember it and you'll have moved on with other threads. It's just how it goes. Two weeks from now it won't even be a memory and you'll be well on your way to Knighthood and beyond.

Cheers and happy hunting! :D

I told you the republic Role Plays too much.

I have just read the 'post' in question (plus the barbs at the bottom) and all I can say is:

Words......fail....me......

I can't speak for anyone else but I'll take classy and outgunned any day. Isn't it called SWRP for a reason?

EDIT

And the funniest thing is, the main reason I use Soresu and the main reason the God of RP taunts me for using it? Because I RP and hate to take liberties in duels.

At least we can establish that some enemies don't know where a 'taunting' ends and 'insulting' begin. To go on a short rant about 'This is why you suck' is a great idea. You try to prompt the hero into action and strike at you. Make him act on that anger.

But if the rant becomes too long and you start to not only mock the hero but the entire world around the hero then you're not taunting, you're just being a disrespectful prick. For example:

"Ah, Master Elmer. Come to relive the events on Ossus have you? Make up for the inactions on Zeltros, perhaps?"

Is not the same as:

"Master Elmer you are an idiot. You don't attack unless in self-defence that is just stupid. Look at your pilots, they are stupid too the way they fire at you to kill that dragon now. You were dumb on Ossus which was years ago. I turn my attention to Zeltros now you were dumb on Zeltros and your friend got poisoned for it."

Now, to bring some joy into my rant I believe I had a pretty good fight with Reverance. An inexperienced knight tried to hold her own against a Sith Lord and failed. She didn't die but she is really banged up and I call that a win on Kana's behalf. ICly she has learned the importance of ambidexterity and what to practice. OOCly I have learned how to write a fight that is fun for both sides of the pen as well as the reader... Hopefully.

Gonna write Kana out of this invasion over the next few days as she tries to reach a ship outta there. Hope the rest of you have fun, I've enjoyed reading your posts so far!

If someone isn't taking measured hits, and is magically avoiding everything - that's lame.

Just choose to avoid them in the future? Reporting can work too but you have to talk to the person. Even then, they can type something like "Darth Something-something dark side took a hit to the chest, but her armor easily absorbed the impact."

[member="Sarge Potteiger"] said it best. It's the nature of the beast, unfortunately.

Yeah I agree with [member="Corvus Raaf"], I'd rather have class and remained outgunned than sacrifice it for winning.

[member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] - It is lame, if you see it, talk to the player - if they're a jerk, report them. Simple enough. Don't be discouraged, it's sometimes the MO. People will guise their God-moding, ect under the guise of "I'm enjoying myself and my writing, you should too!" So just stick with what you know to be common sense and ignore the obvious attempt to conceal, ya know?

*shrugs*

I for sure want you to have fun but I can understand the multitude of frustration coming from newer players and even some veteran players. Glad I'm not sitting alone in my corner now. :D

Ya'll are entitled to feel what you feel and believe what you believe. Stick to it. Don't obviously let anyone persuade you otherwise - most important don't forget it's a game. In the end, when you shut off your computer...none of this poodoo matters. Not the One Sith, not Praelior, Not any Zambrano, no one.

Game.

EDIT - Going back through, [member="Meeristali Peradun"] might have mentioned first Invasions for specific characters, ect. This also makes a big point too. Character development can be a critical win/loss point for people.

You got a Padawan going up against a fully developed Sith Lord, you better expect to lose. Another example is learning Force powers at a Padawan or Knight level without really having prior knowledge to them or anything to show for it - i.e Emerald Judgement, ect.

*shrugs* Just some take away.

I don't know what any of you said. What is this Are Pee you speak of....is this not KOTOR III?

[member="Sressechka"] -Fist bumps da pilot lady

[member="Aaralyn Rekali"] - I understand, I'm not angry or anything...Just kinda...meh...I don't know the proper word to describe it. The invasion was fun, just had a few bumps that would be nice to not see in the future. More give and less take I suppose.
