Invasion of Ord Mirit OOC [GR vs. OS]

[member="Alva Calvarona"]

We will have to agree to disagree on that notion, then. Especially considering that you can fight against mind control or choose how it impacts your characters. Either way, resolution will be made in PM.

We can easily work to accommodate you for OOC timing. I can coordinate movements with my forces so that you are not missing out on much. And considering your air forces are more or less independent of the rest of the battle, before you leave, you can simply let us know what your attacks would be, and we will account for the damage accurately in your absence, even though you're unable to post! That way your forces don't have to just disappear, and we get a little breathing room. I understand your position, but still wanted to make the offer.
Nah, when I poof, I poof; no need to acknowledge someone that isn't there. :)

I'm just clarifying what my stance regarding the timeline is, especially ICly. Considering how much happens in each post (and taking into account that some of that overlaps, time-wise)... well, I could bore you with biology, but bottom line is that real-world pupae can need only a few days to evolve, and these have been embedded into the Yorik-Vec for at least the duration of the journey from Selvaris to Ord Mirit. Adding their ability to expedite the metamorphosis to the mix means that they can evolve into full-fledged grutchinya rather quickly.

Grutchin larvae underwent metamorphosis to become mature adults in a very short period of time. - Grutchin

I understand your LOA issues, and leave you with best wishes on your vacation!

As for the grutchin: This is an issue that I will be raising after the conclusion of this invasion. I believe it is a unit that needs more consideration and thought put into the limitations of its use.

ATTENTION:

In the case of the wolves used by [member=Sage Bane] and the mind control attempt, an accord has been reached:

Terms:

1) Number of wolves reduced to 20.

2) NPC cost of each wolf placed at .5 NPC points.

3) Reproducibility allowed = With a one post preparation and deployment on second post.

4) Total NPC cost for 20 units: 10 NPC's

5) Mind Control: Will be allowed and will be handled in an appropriate and creative manner by defending forces.

However you want to respond to them is totally up to you. In my bio, you can click on their submission to see their weaknesses.

Just keep in mind that your pilots may not necessarily know that it's the shadow wolves that are causing your commanders to jump in the river. I'm not saying they wouldn't put two-and-two together, but just throwing this out there as a reminder.

But with that in mind, write your pilots as you think they would react.

Alright, I have formulated an idea, Storm Commandos have got to have extensive mental training, am I correct? So it wouldn't be that easy for your char to get into their minds, let's say, your shadowpuppies have to get closer to my forces to amplify the effect enough for you to take control of their minds.

Consider this. Maybe the attack succeeds on 3 of the soldiers in an AT-FAT, and one of the pilots.

Now you have three soldiers doing what the compulsion was described as: Trying to jump in the water.

So that means they have to leave the vehicle.

What's outside?

Random grutchinya that are floating around in onesies and twosies.

So these guys start fighting their fellow soldiers trying to escape. Maybe once of them manages to stick his head out of a hatch and get it bitten into by a grutchin, which the soldiers then have to fight off INSIDE of the vehicle, where the acid ends up burning through the arm plate of another soldier, not killing him, but rendering him unable to dismount and fight.

The men kill the gutchin and reseal the hatch, but another one of the three soldier's manages to get outside and fall to his death. The third is wrestled into submission and knocked out with a sedative (or more excitedly, a rifle stock).

Meanwhile, in the cockpit, the vehicle is swaying back and forth dangerously as the co-pilot tries to wrestle the pilot down and they push each other against the control console. The pilot ends up grabbing his blaster pistol and shooting his co-pilot.
Then maybe the pilot realises what he's done and it pulls him from the mind control.
Or he tries to escape through the rear compartment, and is stopped by the infantrymen, who now have to find someone else to pilot the walker!

How's THAT for a response?
