I am making beautiful face top left.

The majestic creature I am.

[member="Nickolas Imura"] You can't really tell in that light, but I have a distinct redbeard...which is odd, considering that my hair is dirty blond. I mourn the loss of my beard on a daily basis. I used to larp...and my beared used to be epic:

Nice. Whereabouts did you LARP? I've been looking at getting into that over here in the Carolinas.

[member="Ice"] We have a couple of larping groups in the hampton areas of virginia. I'd rather not say why I don't go anymore or give anymore details than that, mainly because I'm a bit sour over the way things are run. Needless to say, leadership in a larps group can make or break the enjoyment of it. ON top of that, I wear heavy armor so all the big people think it's cool to just toss me around (shield bash, grapple, etc.), meaning I get injured pretty often (have a pinky issue that's been lingering for near six months after I was grappled and my hand couldn't escape my shield). Since that sort of thing isn't monitored more, I tend to stay away from the group now.

edit: As an aside, I can point you in the right direction if you are on the closer side of Virginia.

[member="Reverance"], I have always wanted to LARP but never had the time, money, or the physical strength required. Let alone the physical body for such things since I stand 5'6" (I am very proud of that height considering my mother is 4'9") and I look kind of skinny. If anything I would be a single sword wielder with just leather armor, and maybe some plate armor for bracers, calfs, maybe my chest and head. Other than that, I am really small.

ANNNDDD I live in Indiana so you can't do it year round or anything like that. As well, I can understand how that would be a pain with people who are not so choice for leadership. Considering I paintball all the time, and becuase of my size it's easier than straight up hand to hand combat, I am the leader in my own group and I do fairly well. Other groups who I have faced crumbled under the pressure of our group considering that they had a poor leader charma wise, and so things fell apart for them.

What makes a good team is a Leader who is willing to give out commands that he would be willing to do himself. and the people willing to follow said leader. I'm gonna stop typing before we get so far off topic, but nonetheless, I have high admiration for those who can LARP since I have seen my cousin do it a few times. (He generally goes for the Roman, or mideivl [however you spell it] eras.)

[member="Nickolas Imura"] Yeah, country leadership is important...but also the leadership of the entire group. We have a pretty bad system of leadership in general (very negative, very condescending) so it makes it difficult to get into it.

I actually prefer to fight in the winter time. It means I can wear my gambeson which also improves the comfort of the armor. All and all, my armor weighs about 40-50 lbs, depending on if I wear my chainmail beneath the gambeson. With my shield weighing about 15 lbs (full tower), it makes it quite the workout for sure. Once I get a picture of my full armor, I'll post it (just gotta find it).

[member="Reverance"], That would be awesome! I would love to see full suit. Yeah it is nice in the winter I guess, However, here in indiana, its very humid, so when you sweat in armor, leather, animal hide? nah it would be a nasy fest of mud, Blood, tears, and sweat. Not really keen on doing that this early in my life. (18 yrs old)

[member="Nickolas Imura"] : This was really the best one I could find that showed the layering of the armor, without the gambeson (as it was hot as hell in the summer). I also have steel greaves which add about another 5-7 lbs. And I'm not a huge guy (if that isn't obvious by now), it just takes some getting used to.
