Is taking a name from outside star wars okay?

Rule 13.... Plagiarism is prohibited.

•to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
•to use (another's production) without crediting the source
•to commit literary theft
•to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

If you call someone or a company a name that belongs to another from an external source not of the SW universe, then I beleive so.

Keep it as original as possible to avoid things like this.

I'm sure Admin will confirm this for you.

[member="Stephanie Swail"] Good response.

[member="The Guardian"] With Disney and Universal, I know they are copyrighted, so if you were to use a name from them, change up the spelling or something. At the very least, you could put a disclaimer within your bio for whatever you're planning to create.

Well like my Character is named ARDGAL Raxis clearly not in star wars, so Original Content like this is more than Ok, its encouraged. But if your going to name yourself something like "Optimus Prime" and lead a company called "Sams Club" or "Target" or "J C Penny's" or like anything like that:

I used "Arthur Pendragon" for a jedi once. No one seemed to care enough to report it as far as I know, and I am usually more original than that, but I feel like if you just use the name, you'd be fine if you don't do it more involved with said character.
