Mathieu stood on top of the Frittata in the centre and watched as the three L'Escargot slugs entered the enormous Bryn's mouth. The drill heads detached and started to destroy the beast from within. He let out a sigh of relief - but it was premature. For the Ravager, even in its dying breath, was determined to do its part for their people. And with that, it toppled the transport Mathieu stood on.

This time, he would not be able to keep his balance and fell from his feet. Everything was happening quickly but he managed to throw himself into a deep dent where several armour plates had been sitting before. While he was sure to get well bruised by his leg area from the hard impact as the vehicle rolled onto its back, he would survive. Although Mathieu let go of the Frittata, it kept rolling down the hill until it was almost a hundred meters away from the fight. The cockpit had been completely crushed, a few of its wheels had fallen off and everything laid in silence.

His chest rose and fell with every breath. Mathieu was alive, but it looked like the Kastolar Platoons had just lost their core command structure. Through his comms to it, he heard nothing but static. But then he heard a voice "This is Captain Arlon speaking. Our Frittata won't move again, but our other equipment is still going." It was a message that was conveyed to all of the Concord troops under his command. "Major Dansk is KIA, but we will carry on her efforts. They may attack us. They may tear at us and kill our brothers and sisters. But they may not break us. For if we do break, the Kastolar Sector is next. They will ravage, kill and destroy, whether it be Chalacta, Ubrikkia or Yitabo. We will keep our homes and our loved ones safe and we will keep fighting."

Mathieu listened to his words - they were inspirational. They were said from a position of near death - and they could all see how he had overcome it. It made the young Morellian think of Inara and her family. The Captain's words still rung in his head and he knew that he had to go on. But it was hard. Despite his speech, Captain Arlon was no Dansk. And despite his brave words, everyone could see how his transport had been thrown down the hill while another hugely muscled Bryn was tearing another Frittata apart. Morale was falling and dark clouds could be seen in the distance.

The Frittata that had stood between the two that got attacked was repositioning, pulling away from Argaloth to position itself in between the broken command vehicle and the two that still stood. The troops, all relatively lightly geared, were quick to reposition themselves accordingly, either slowly retreating along their Frittata, or starting to sprint as the Ravagers had either completely destroyed their vehicle or moved them a hundred metres away. The lines of battle were shifting and it was clear that the Concord forces were trying to retreat and create distance - always covering the areas they left behind with ice from the Sundae Shells.

Getting back up on his feet was a struggle. Mathieu could see how the swarm of Pimento's were following the field of battle from above, continuously blasting down projectiles and grenades. But it wasn't enough, for all around him, he could see how Bryn troops tanked blaster bolt after blaster bolt while ferociously advancing upon the next Kastolar trooper to rip them apart too. Some of the advanced weaponry they had was effective, but their losses were heavy.

A huge Bryn projectile was fired upon the Padawan, he didn't react and while it still had a few metres to go, a Pimento shot down the slug. Mathieu looked towards it's direction and saw a Bryn come charging at him with a big melee weapon. Moving swiftly, Mathieu dodged in towards it and took a strong grip of his foes's arm, making it impossible for him to swing his weapon. He could see the surprise in his foe's eyes - a humanoid was matching the ferocious Bryn warrior in strength - it was all thanks to the Gundark Power Armour. The fight was over with the press of a button, a blue light drenched the area the Jedi's blade was ignited, creating both a familiar hum and a must unpleasant sound as it stabbed the hostile creature in the head.

Another one was charging at him and the Padawan readied his defence. "Brion, Tynen, that dark cloud in the distance, it's getting near." The voice faded into the background as the blue sabre went up to intercept the weapon that was being swung towards him. "Brion, Tynen, come in" Mathieu let out a grunt as as the two weapons pressed down against each other in a power struggle that would almost definitely ensure in the death of one of them. "I need you to deal with those clouds" With a quick step to the side and a pivot, Mathieu let the Bryn push through - for he would no longer be hit when it happened. With a quick move, he brought out his other lightsabre and stabbed the second Bryn in the head with the green blade.

"I'm on it" Sheathing both weapons, he started running toward the back lines. He had an idea, but the concentration needed would be tremendous. When he found himself in the middle of the crescent that the four Frittata's formed, Mathieu kneeled down and reached out through the force. The pain and suffering he felt was immense - unbearably so. His eyes immediately shot open as cold layer of sweat started to form on his being. His jaw had a slight shiver - he had to do it. He had to reach out.

Once more, Mathieu closed his eyes and focused. But this time, he tried to shift it, away from the one-legged soldier calling for their mother and away from the one who pulled out a cryoban grenade in the last second, to at least take a Bryn with them as they died. His mind went to a warmer place. It went to the Silver Rest on Kashyyyk, to the old and wise Master Iston Voronwe whom he met on Voss, and most importantly to Inara and her stories about her family on Chalacta. It helped him concentrate, centre himself and find peace through all the tragedy. Slowly but surely, through numerous small ripples, the wind started to shift and grow strong. While the dark cloud that had just been released spread out over a large area, it would soon be blow away. It was impossible to tell the effects on all parts of the field, but one things was for sure, it would not reach the Kastolar Platoons where Mathieu was.

Galak gave the order and the Primarch followed his word. As the Guardian Servitor continued upon its path toward the underground layers of the city, burrowing through the ground. He could feel it growing closer, their enemies powerless to stop it as it continued onward, unstoppable. The Bryn'adûl had endured the feeble efforts of their enemies and now they would crush them under the might of the Shamans and the great serpents in their employ.

Once this world dies, those who follow it will burn. Yurb will burn until its surface is glass, the colonies of the kin they swore to protect would wither and die. Billions more. Trillions to come.

His renewed control like a breathe of fresh air as he dictated the wills of many creatures, the Dregde had moved to the end of the marketplace that the Silver Jedi's forces had come from and their nearest exists. The Dredge sprouted out from the ground, their long spider-like legs tearing into the walls as the creatures screeched, rubble and debris caving in the choke points of the exits.

Keldothera, leave the marketplace - NOW.

The ground rumbling as death approached, the great serpent ploughing through the earth beneath the city. Those inside new not what came, those inside new not what came for them. Much like the worlds the Silver Jedi had forsaken knew not what came for them, so many died whilst the Empires of the Galaxy simply watched. The Servitor Guardian continued toward the surface, aiming for the heart of the marketplace.

He felt the powerful force users within the marketplace, their efforts insignificant compared to the power that was about to be unleashed. All across the city, the ground would quake, mines would explode among the ranks of their enemy and their own as the pressure plates shifted and trembled, debris falling upon them and causing many to explode prematurely. However, the Syphons continued to disarm them - moving through the city unimpeded.

"Run feeble primitives." Drek'ma spoke to himself, the Guardian itself was moment away from breaching the marketplace itself, using its massive form to create a chasm in the middle of the city. The marketplace would need to be destroyed first.

"Oh sh--" Cas started before ultimately cutting himself off when he turned to flee. Unfortunately his squad had missed their shot and so Cas needed to adapt, right now, that was running away. Despite his speed being enhanced by the Force, the Skag was quick on his tail and with every attack it attempted to strike the Jedi with - his reflexes allowed him to narrowly avoid them albeit barely. "Move! MOVE!" he called out to any nearby Kastolar soldiers he would pass as the Skag chased him. While some heeded his warning and moved out of the way, unfortunately, there was some who were too late to move and were killed or injured in the Skag's raging path. His guilt was immeasurable as he indirectly caused the deaths of soldiers because of his failed plan - as much as it pained him, he needed to focus.

As he fled across the area, Cas noticed debris of ice scattered across it from missed shots from the Sundae Shells during the battle. It granted him an idea. Finally. Cas began picking up more speed, grunting as he did so before eventually leaping off the ground, transitioning into a backflip Cas would try and land on the Skag's back before gripping one of its bone growths to stabilise himself. Extending his weapon arm, Cas released his index and middle finger while the rest remained clung to his lightsaber - with the Force he reached out to several pieces of ice debris before tearing them from the ground with the Force and surrounded himself with them. Timing it right, Cas launched the ice debris at high velocity into the Skag's legs - if this didn't work he didn't know what woulld.

The Jedi then plunged his lightsaber into its back to drive pain into it and hopefully slow it down even more while on the ferocious creature's back, he heard a loud crashing sound coming from where the Frittatas were parked which made the young Knight feel a pit of anxiety in his stomach over the safety of his friend. To whoever was nearby and to whoever was able, Cas yelled out "NOW!" and in a unified battle cry the Kastolar troops that were nearby emptied a round of Sundae Shells into the Skag and if that didn't work, Cas made sure to drive his lightsaber into the top of its skull to really put an end to it.

Surfing on the body, Cas eventually hopped off of its body. With the brief peace he had, Cas turned his direction to the Frittatas, noticing one had been tipped over and Mathieu was nowhere to be seen, worried, he couldn't do much as he and those around him received the transmission from Captain Arlon. Captain Arlon? Cas wondered why Major Dansk wasn't the one speaking, until that question was quickly answered for him and as a result, the Kiffar's face fell into despair... how many more people needed to die to defend against these monsters... would this all be worth it in the end? Even more so, he was worried for Mathieu's wellbeing now. Cas' spirits were slightly raised however from the inspiring words from Arlon, he was right, they needed to keep fighting and Cas wouldn't stop until either he was dead or they successfully pushed the Bryn back.

"Y'all heard Captain Arlon! We keep fighting! Dansk and everyone else lost today will NOT die in vain!" he yelled out to some of the troops who looked spiritually broken, hoping that he could add some more morale to Arlon's previous speech. However, Cas could sense a slight shift within the ones closest to him - feeling a slight echo of confidence through the Force's currents. Good. They needed it. Before long, as he and the other troopers were engrossed in the heat of battle, Cas would hear Arlon's voice through his wrist communicator again, only this time warning of an approaching dark cloud - despite this, the mention of Mathieu's name eased Cas' concerns and further reinforced his passion to win and survive this. Turning his attention to the approaching cloud "We'll make. sure Padawan Brion isn't distracted" he replied.

The Jedi watched as the Padawan made his way to the backline "Cover the Padawan and anyone falling back! Do not let any Bryn through our defence!" Cas ordered over his commlink to his squad troopers "I don't want a single Bryn anywhere near them!" he re-iterated, obviously it was a tall order but he had to have faith. Cas and his squad backtracked near to where Mathieu was concentrating with him and his squad spreading out to cover more ground.

Noticing a Minor headed their way, without needing to say anything his squad opened fire with their rifles - in the chaos, Cas rushed toward one of them, threw his free arm out and unleashed a heavy Force push in order to knock it off balance. As predicted, the Minor spread their arms in an attempt to recover its balance - the Knight, bolstering his speed rushed to its side where the Bryn's armor exposed its rib, hopping lightly Cas swung his lightsaber at the Bryn's side, cutting through it, and landed on the floor with a roll. In pain, the Minor fell to one knee clutching at its side as it howled in pain, now behind it Cas swiftly took the opportunity to end it. Jumping again, Cas brought his rear leg forward before snapping it back, delivering greater power as he delivered a horizontal strike through the Minor's neck, decapitating it. As the Minor's body collapsed to the ground and its head rolled across the floor, he glanced around and readied himself for more to come.

Caedyn Arenais had been moving alongside Jyoti Nooran Jyoti Nooran and her people before the very earth itself began to shift beneath their feet. Rubble from the rooftops alongside the corridor that they walked, fell to the street floor as their foundations started to give way.

Caedyn stumbled in his pace, falling sideways against the wall of the structure nearby while the rest of Squad Lykos sought cover on the other side of the path, taking up positions nearby anything secure in order to maintain a perimeter defense as the world itself seemed to come apart.

"Is that a Quake?!" Private Abbie Parker exclaimed in alarm.

"I don't think so" Aurlin Kyule answered with no small sign of apprehension in the Rodian's voice.

"Say again?" Tarlou Losi raised her voice, one hand holding the headset against her ear, "Captain! We've got Worm Sign!" she soon yelled ahead to Joshua Harris. The Captain exchanging a morbid glance across the street with Caedyn as they both realized what that meant. The Bryn'adul had brought one of their Servitors to Yurb and it had done tremendous damage to the Lervon Homeworld.

Looking ahead from where he and Jyoti were positioned, Caedyn did his best to distance himself from concentrating on the immediate group around him and instead entrenched himself within the Force, reaching out to the tendrils of energy flowing throughout the world, every life connecting to one another no matter who's side they fought for.

"We need to fall back..." Caedyn muttered at first, his gaze seemingly distant, as though he were staring off into nothingness; Then suddenly as if coming back to reality he turned sharply and called to Squad Lykos "Fall back now!".

"You heard the man, move your asses!" Captain Harris followed suit, throwing a hand out in quick sign to Abbie Parker who had been at the rear of their Unit. Formation was broken as every member of the Squad pushed back, running quickly while also trying to keep their sights up and weapons primed for any hostile engagement.

"Harris, we're going to need..." Caedyn spoke as he ran alongside the Commanding Officer, "Heavy weapons to take it down once it's exposed" the Jedi had to suddenly leap across a fallen wall of debris that had caved down from one of the buildings upon his side of the street.

"Lousi, get on the horn! Call for Danger Close!" the Captain shouted as they did their best to get clear of the center of the marketplace.

  • The Guardian's underground movements have caused quakes throughout the City.
  • Caedyn Arenais sensed the imminent threat.
  • Caedyn and Squad Lykos are falling back to avoid being swallowed up by the creatures breaching the surface.

Syd stayed within view, but she was flipping and dipping around in ways Starlin couldn't have done even if his legs weren't injured. He focused on aiding her and the other Jedi with the Force, throwing debris at the Bryn and assisting his comrades.

Then the rumbling started. Starlin staggered slightly, wincing, but at first he thought it was just a particularly heavy bomb going off. Then he heard soldiers yelling and running past him. Everyone was leaving? What was going on?

He started moving too, hobbling along, his eyes scanning the skies for Syd. Something about this reminded him of... Jedi Academy? One of the shorter missions in the game, the one with the people-eating sand monster...

Yeah, time to start running.

His muscles and bones screamed at him to stop, but adrenaline and willpower forced him to go faster, doing his best to keep up with the rest of the retreating troops. "Move, move, move!" he yelled to those they passed, waving his arms. "Big monster incoming! Let's go!"

As Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion reached out towards the swarm of Draeyde with the Force, the air around them whipped into a gentle and consistent gust. This paranormal breeze began to dry out the Sun Quaker ink that glistened like tar over the Draeyde. Tens of the Draeyde began to shriek in agony and panic as the direct light of the system's star beat down upon their delicate skin and eyes. This caused the wretches to seek shelter beneath their broodmates, some going as far as to attempt to latch onto the underbelly of their flying brethren which in turn caused the swarm to turn hysteric as it continued to cause self-inflicted harm to itself.

Meanwhile, the monstrous vessels continued downwards towards the ground, unyielding, unafraid of the imminent impact as if they were incapable of the sensation entirely. As their gigantic forms crashed into the ground they kicked up clouds of debris and particles outwards. Their impacts caused great clouds of debris, sand, and dust to shroud their mangled forms. For a few long seconds there came no movement, then suddenly a torrent of Draeyde, fresh with the Sun Quaker ink, burst forth from their larger cousins; which ripped innumerable holes into the flesh of the Hive Bombs. In their wake followed a gaseous cloud which leaked from the debris cloud, quickly floating into the sky in the following seconds.

The Sun Quaker gas lifted quickly into the air and soon much of the outskirts would be shrouded in unnatural night. However, as the Sun Quaker gas cloud met the Force imbued air it pushed a pathway of clarity deep into the cloud. A passage for any who would soon find themselves in the midst of the darkness. All the while the swarm of Draeyde grew and grew until they numbered thousands. Targant's joyful snarl grew as he raised his has to the darkness and let out an ushering roar for battle that echoed into the ravaged outskirts. The Draeyde, emboldened by their numbers and protected by the false darkness provided by the Sun Quaker gas, began to descend upon the various battlefronts to claw, snatch, gouge, and bite the enemies of the Bryn'adul. Those that were imbued with the Lightside of the Force saw little to no interaction with the Draeyede, though their comrades would remain targets.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion 's use of the Force did not go unnoticed by Targant and how could it with a path of sky within his cloud of darkness reminding him every second of a Jedi's presence? "Refuge? A glimmer of hope? Poetically futile." Snarled the Warlord, his words laced with contempt. Unlike his legion of Draeyde, Targant had no fear of the light nor the Lightside. Upon his Drael Skag he rode into the end of the passage of light daring any who would be brave enough to take the veritable corridor towards him in an attempt to engage him.

“A human could never understand justice? Pressure? Loss—Betrayal?”

As much as Gianna held faith in a core of inherent goodness, she knew that humanity held deeply disturbing faults. She had watched empires rise and fall. Some of them held similar mindsets to the Draelvasier before her. If a soldier had loose lips in the First Order it was quite possible that his head would roll. The Sith Empire had rained unmercifully down on so many systems, time and time again, that she had lost count. Her personal experiences on Coruscant gave her a clear viewpoint of the perspective of those who lost themselves to darkness. Who performed evil deeds. “Surely even you know better.”

She could feel his hate when the Titan drew nearer. Untold depths of disgust, disdain, and a memory of blood-letting wailed against her being with the force of a hurricane. It would have been easy to allow herself to feel cut off. To let soul-sucking despair take root just as his odium had settled superciliously in his veins. She would not let it make her feel alone. She was not. The Force was with her, while what sat with him, was his hate. It took root like a cancer. Malicious. It multiplied with every kill. Grew with every denial. Every word. Every breath. Every exchange that passed between them. Hate. Such vibrant, glowing, destructive poison. He was the epicenter of it all.

Jade eyes flickered when the red-skinned warrior adjusted to her movements and his clenched fist was only a sign of further irritation. He lunged—She evaded. The kukri in her hand weighed her down a little bit but not enough, not yet, that she had let it go. It was the symbol of all he had done here. The rest of his people may never know his deeds; But this blade did. She did.

More importantly—He did.

The Titan called for her while they played a game of cat and mouse. Cretin, was she? Her head shook and ginger hair tumbled over her shoulder. There was a subtle and pale glow that emanated from a bauble that hung around her neck. It wasn’t overly bright, but it would be a mystery. She didn’t seem surprised or bothered by it one way or the other. Instead, she offered a tight-lipped, distant expression, that seemed to echo with every ounce of sorrowful understanding her slight frame could hold. A parent, watching a wayward, lost child. “No…I don’t think I will.”

As much as the Chieftain wished it, craved it, he would be denied splitting her skull. She would not become yet another pile of scrap, bones, and gore as had the men that he lay waste to in the pit. She would not become one of the tortured echoes that cried out in agony from the punishing way they had died. Violent deaths by violent means. No pity; no remorse. He held no more respect for that which he ground to dust than a human held for an insect.

A boot had no quarrel with an ant. It just crushed it.

Gianna lunged back once more when the red-skinned Draelvasier moved forward. As the crimson axe hummed through the air she was reminded of her initial assessment of his reach. Thrice her own. More than that. Not to mention that he was far faster than she gave credit for. Another whisper raised a new shield. It was strong, enhanced by his first attack, but even then—

// THUD //

—she was hit with something she hadn’t seen coming. It was like being hit by a land speeder with no brakes. Jarring. Gianna was shoved forcefully to the side and her body was dumped into the long-jagged impression in the ground that the defense tower had left behind. She landed hard. The bones in her right arm felt shattered, though, the pain immediately began to ease. The glow around her neck intensified while she continued to back up in the trench. Move—Or die.

Still.

He would see the weapons at her side. Why hadn’t she drawn them? She could sense that she had played right into a tactic that was a tale as old as time. The cornered, trapped, far weaker mouse had no room to run. No room to hide. “That hurt.”, she admitted breathlessly, rolling her shoulder, while her fingertips of her opposite hand ran along the dirt wall. He followed her. Instantly. He was there in a flash with a startling finesse that caused her jaw to tighten. Everything shook when he moved. She could feel every heavy footstep hitting the ground like a comet. He was huge, for certain, but let no one say that the Bryn’adûl moved slowly. Lesson learned.

“…Forgive me...”

As soon as the alien words left her lips her hand flew out from the side, crossing her body, and a horizontal column of earth, rocks, and roots slammed into the red-skinned monster without pause. It sought to swallow him whole and reduce the swiftness that would bring him back into her proximity all the sooner. A trap. The earth that he had pushed her into could just as easily become his temporary jail as it could be her grave.

She began to back away swiftly—Using the distance. She needed time for her arm to heal. If she was crippled, so soon, the creature would make short work of her. Gianna wouldn’t make things so easy for him. As she disappeared down the trench she called back over her shoulder, loudly, so he would hear. “Find your insight. Find actual truth. See beyond what is physically in front of you. See what is real—Not what rhetoric and excuses have made for you.”

She swallowed hard when she heard the crack of her bone re-setting. Better. Not perfect; but better.

See, Titan. You need to see.”

Notes for the wise. Tathra hits like a freight train. Basically, Gianna got hit with a bus and fell into a trench. It's a good trap. Cat and mouse. Mouse can't run too far too fast, but, mouse is a tricky force user and hit cat with a wall to try and trap him for a minute. Sorry T-dawg. Those wounds might get all...Itchy with dirt and crap in them.

Sasmay watched in silent awe as the vessels that made up the Silver groups did their best to avoid incoming fire and dispense their own. It was a pretty light show given her position just outside the expanding engagement zone. The omni-directional jets had kept her ever so slightly outside whta she considered the limits of the battlefield as a ship ahead of her took a devastating blow to the rear of it. A large vessel, one that she was made to quietly watch burn and jettison a number of things into the vacuum of space.

Something she had wished to never see again in a long time.

A distress signal went out from the vessel, her eyes wandering over the wounded thing as it seemed to slowly descend to the planet. An odd sight given her understanding of how space worked. The confused scrunch of her face dropped to dread when she realized how close it was to the planet though. Close enough to be caught by it, and large enough to need more than what it had to get out of it.

Fethfethfeth- Her mind raced as she punched the throttle and lurched forward, intending to get ahead of the vessel as quickly as she could. The baffles were useless as she burned bright across the dark of space, calling upon one of the droid brains to give her angles for the large vessel's projected landing.

She reeled at what she was presented with before opening a communication line to the vessel.

"To the vessel currently calling for aid. I-" She floundered the words, distress in her tone as she shook her head and tried to think of something she could do. "This is call-sign Dream. I-I'm going to fly ahead of you...and try an clear out a landing zone?" Her statement faltered, quickly shifting to an uncertain reaching for some way to help.

Flipping through the systems, she had one of the droid brains keep the line to the crippled vessel while they tried to race ahead of it. Power had been pulled from weapons to add to the output, however slight a boon that would be as she rocketed for the surface of the planet, attempting to tie into the communication lines of those below.

"Come on, someone please be listening." She hissed, watching the projected trajectory of the falling ship behind her as it shifted wildly with their maneuvering. It was making it difficult to figure out who to contact in that moment. The starfighter's hull burned bright as a dying star as it began to enter atmosphere, sending out a call along the defensive communications line with it's built in encryption module.

Keldothera Keldothera (Probably not far from you)

There was no immediate response from the darkness or at least none that the Draelvasier had been able to hear. It was possible, he supposed, that the cloud was exhibiting a sort of auditory dulling, but he thought it more likely that whichever of his compatriots was trapped within the mist was distracted with more life-threatening issues, and hadn't managed the time to formulate a response. Part of him genuinely wanted to wait behind to provide assistance to his brother, to demonstrate camaraderie as the tenants always dictated, but another part recognized that the Guardian would be growing closer and closer by the minute.

When he felt the first rumble strike the ground beneath them, he knew that he needed to leave. Nevertheless, he would at least try to provide an opportunity for his ally to follow them to safety. "Brother! Follow our voices!" He shouted, directing a finger towards the rear-guard of their squadron, and listening as they complied with a shrieked call. This periodic call echoed out from the group as they made their way towards the exit where so many of their brethren had already fled.

Detonations caught his attention as the rumbling of the great Servitor rattled already weakened structures and objects. Debris would scatter down from these like fruit from trees, landing heavily upon the scattered landmines and explosive traps that had been left to entrap the Draelvasier. Perhaps if there had been fewer they would've already stricken them all, but as it was, he could hear a rather significant number of explosions somewhere in the distance. It irritated him to know that so many of them would be completely wasted, but he hoped that at least one or two squadrons of the enemy would be churned into chunks by their own deviousness.

With a final sprint, the Major joined his kindred in exiting the Marketplace once and for all, leaving it behind to become dust and ashes in the mouth of the Guardian. They weren't completely finished with their combat, however, because the city would still need to be taken, and Emissary Galak would require their assistance in performing that task.

The choice to retreat was a costly one, it had cost her twenty of her own personal forces and even more of their warriors died in their retreat. Blaster fire and undead painted the tight corners of the underground marketplace, she felt fear in her heart. It reminded her of Ylesia, the horrors that had driven them all to these battlefields. So much had transpired since the loss at Yurb. But they all saw it in each others eyes even now, they would endure and they would claim victory no matter what odds they faced. Including the dead.

Dozens had been lost, but it would be worth it. The flaming undead drone leapt for her, flames curling around her flesh and armour; keeping one at bay as she swatted it back, the frothing creature slammed against the wall at the turn of the corridor, screaming with destroyed lungs that echoed a horrible and impossible scream that a living thing could not make. Her eyes drew wide, anger and shock at what had become of even the lowest of her kin. But the command of her superiors was her duty, she was a loyal warrior and she would ensure their completion of their objective. Every step she lugged the Kraker in her hands backing up slowly through the ramped exit of the marketplace.

"Grenadiers, cave them in!"

All across the area their entry points would be held doing by Juggernauts supported by the Drones. The ground quaked, the Drael knew what was coming. Grenadiers used the alt-fire of the Kraker's to place their explosive bolts in individual placements, pulling back further as the undead charged through.

"Now!" Kelda shouted above the combat, activating her own; the first to blow. In seconds every exit the Bryn's forces had moved through were caved in, crushing whatever had dared to follow them. It appeared as though they had exited the marketplace into a school district of some kind, and battle wasn't far off.

"Emissary, I've arrived above ground in the school district. But my forces are spread across the city, they will move to reinforce you! Forward brethren, fear not pain nor death!" A phrase they both knew, one the Titan had said a hundred times on the many battlefields they fought across.

She felt his absence now in this battle, where was he? His disappearance made her fear for him, but they could not focus on that now. They had to endure what was thrown their way, they had to win. Keldothera spotted an Ashaka acolyte up ahead, they'd left an exit not far behind what seemed like special forces attacking Sylok, overhead Ra'maks were firing at the enemy as well. The sooner they pushed through these Silver Jedi whelps, the sooner they could help Galak.

Her Juggernauts formed up around defendable positions, moving into the buildings they were on top of behind the enemy, setting up lines of sight. They were ready to open fire on her command, their Rhivaks bounded up to the rooftops, attacking the commandos as half of her forces remained on the ground, their Heavies opening fire with Triad Chainguns into the lines of the droids attacking the Ashaka's forces. Kelda aimed for the one who appeared to be their leader.

"Fire now!"

Caved in exits to marketplace.

The Bryn soldiers that were within the vicinity of Argaloth or where the other Ravager Brute was killed, quickly found cover they would use for temporary breaks, before dashing for the next, in order to get within the melee of the Kastolar soldiers. Some of the more heavily armoured just charged them, blasting their way, taking the firepower coming their way.

Cas would find that simply riding the Skag with any reaction from the Skag, would find that like riding a wild horse, the Skag started to try and throw him off. Not only that but the tail would be swiped again and again at him with high velocity, trying to knock the pesky Jedi off of it. But, despite every attempt, it still fell after Cas finally pierced its armour and body.

Cas would find himself coming under heavy fire as the remaining Bryn forces started to advance on his position until they found the sweet spot, as to not getting blinded by the remaining Thermal fields. Many shots hit the Frittatas which didn't hit the soldiers, as the Bryn warriors rained fire down upon the soldiers who fell back with the Jedi Knight.

Argaloth who were furthest away from the main action sniffed the two pieces of the ripped apart Frittata, before looking up and over at the remaining Frittata's defensive position. He didn't even need to order his forces around, they already did what he wanted them to as they ran over to join their brethren in the final firefight between the Bryn Juggernaut Corp and Kastolar soldiers. Looking up, at the blackened sky, who soon was pierced by light through the thick tar layer. Unknown of who kept the Draeyde from raining havoc on the enemy, it wasn't his problem to find out, nor did it mean much of a blow for him or his forces.

With heavy steps, Argaloth walked on all four, like a silverback gorilla and saw how the enemy still thought they could win this. Exhaling sharply through his nose in a snarl, Argaloth grabbed one of the two halves of the destroyed Frittata. Taking each an end of the piece and then rose up on his hind legs, extending his arms all the way behind his head and launched the half of the Frittata in a raging arc, towards Cas and the Kastolar men.

He didn't stop there and the other piece, soon followed suit, chugging it through the air, to splatter the enemy. Cas would suddenly either feel it through the force or see the sudden darken shadow coming in hot on their position and if nothing was done about it, would shatter the very ground and any organics in a crushing blow.

Not make things worse, was that the second part of the destroyed Frittata came in not far behind the first, while the Bryn soldiers did not relent on killing every single one of the SJO's men. However, with that said, they didn't come any closer, keeping a small space between them, because of the Frittata's darn thermal blinding field the crescent Frittatas produced.

Then again, Argaloth did have unlimited ammunition of boulders and other large stone-like rocks, he could throw from a distance if nothing stopped him.

Vaux looked down at the ground below. Growling a little. Did these monsters ever give up? She looked at all her pilots that she could see.... The Mandaloian pilot clenched her teeth, calling out to all her allies.

"Do these demagolkae (real-life monsters, war criminals, etc....) ever give up? Ok vode, hit'em hard again!" Once again her pilots would turn in, unleashing their payloads and weapons one these monsters. She looked, closing her eyes before turning in her self. There was a strange smoke on the field, which made her worried. What were they doing? What were they planning? How would they try to dig themselves out of this hole? Either way, she was ready to cover that hole over now. All over the battle field, fighters and assault gunships would return to tearing into the Bryn forces as best they could. From the screams of Banshee Squadrons tuned engines to the deep thuds of the particle cannons all the Mandalorian craft were armed with. War filled the air.

Vaux's TwinTail arced into a firing line of some Bryn ground forces before unleashing particle fire on the ground troops. She had kept her head on a swivel the whole time. Maybe Kaddie was right. Something was up here. They had air support. Why weren't they trying to stop her and her fliers from tearing into them? This didn't make sense to the ace, but she wasn't going to look a gift bantha in the mouth. She pulled out again, glaring at the round and the sky. It was time to draw blood.

The ground below, including her target, evaporated into a thick mist of debris and smoke. Something shifted in the Force, something dark. On a battlefield, the mortal coil was constantly expanding and contracting.

She landed hard against the ground, the orange blade of her saber casting a diffuse light against the dense fog as it cut a harsh path into the duracrete below. Yula had landed on one knee, her joints aching from the impact, growling in frustration as she had missed her target. The guttural sounds of the undead made her skin crawl, unseen yet heard around her, yet she remained untouched. Her foe was nowhere to be seen, but a throaty voice called for him to follow, guiding him out of the mist.

With a free hand over her mouth, Yula coughed into her sleeve while groping her way out of the mist. “Eww!” Hissing as she accidentally grabbed into an undead Jedi’s arm, she leapt away, stumbling from the smoke in time to see the planet’s assailants…leaving? Retreating?

Retreating into a city they do not hold? Isn’t that just pushing forward?

Everything she’d been told about the Brynadul had not lead her to the conclusion that they would cut their losses and focus their efforts elsewhere. Perhaps their intentions were a little more refined than she had anticipated.

A chorus of explosions rocked the marketplace, a familiar series of blasts that rang in her ears and clanged back and forth in her skull. Yula killed her lightsaber and covered her ears, wincing at the familiarity of the sounds, knowing what had just happened. Had their opponent seeded mines the area as they went, as she had?

Her eyes shifted to the retreating Draelvasier, legs shifting into a more solid stance as her hands moved on their own. Yula pulled the Force to her, feeling a low thrum of energy oscillate throughout her body. She built her strength for several moments until it reached a fever pitch, the Force exploding forth in front of her in a marvelous pulse, kicking up a wave of debris. Chunks of duracrete, dismembered droids and weaponry, even fallen soldiers rushed towards the retreating Bryn’adul like a tsunami of rubbish, threatening to crash violently against the invaders should they not move quickly enough.
She pushed and pushed, recompense fueling her for what these monsters had done to her sisters. For what they had done to the galaxy.

A final snarl ripped from her, bellowing across the collapsing marketplace:

COWARDS!

Behind her, a rapidly crumbling building gave way, and Yula disappeared.

TLDR: Touched a zombie, threw a bunch of garbage at the Bryn then took a nap.

Sylok'Vanari Sylok'Vanari had admittedly taken her by surprise. Then again, when anyone pulls a Captain Planet move, its gonna surprise.

The ground erupting from below had given her barely time to react. She had slowed as much of the oncoming energy as she could with but even then it was too much. She through her cybernetic arm in front of her fast, instinctively drawing on Syd's Force Flight skills. Just enough to carry to the edge of the blast from below, but not enough to avoid it completely.

The slowed blast hit, slamming into her armor with molten debris and she felt white hot pain as she was launched into the air...

The Amalgam The Amalgam was falling with her, smiling a serene smile as she reached out to touch a stoic Laertia's face.

"Give yourself to The Dark Side, Julia." The Amalgam hissed. "It is the only way to save your friends..."

"Nevuh..." Laertia said firmly, refusing to flinch at the beautiful beast's touch.

"Is it really so difficult to make that extra leap? You'll think they'll accept you after what they saw here? They 'know' you aren't like them, unquestionably. You're a monster. A murderer just as much as I am. It's just that you happen to have 'acceptable' victims. I never have that trouble obviously..." Laertia and The Amalgam was standing over her own body as it hit the ground in the white world, the faint outlines of the Bryn'adul killers advancing, clearly wanting to repay her brutality by tearing her to pieces in front of the Jedi. They seemed to move like molasses, time slowed during the out of body experience.

"You will never bring any peace to any world they send you to. You shall only ever be a crude instrument to them, to be used up and die on the battlefield like now..." The Amalgam insisted, standing next to her. The warriors, though moving slower than a snail in the white world, were nearly in kill range from all sides.

This time, when The Amalgam touched her face again, Laertia could not hide the flinching at her touch.

"But you're not a crude instrument to me...dear Julia...Uri has the glorious destiny but you...you are..." the Amalgam trailed, cupping the face of an absolutely disgusted and revolted Laertia.

"You could be a glorious Broadsword of The Bogan. Attention. Respect. Admiration. All of it could be yours. Who else could ever care for you like I?" The Amalgam asked.

"Yooz arr a psyykopaath." Laertia said flatly. "Anndz I cann dooz dhis wythouttz yooz..."

The Amalgam only smiled, as distant images of Bryn'adul began to take aim...

"You're just setting yourself up for disappointment, Daughter. They WILL censure and reject you once they find out how you came to be. You'll never be one of the peaceful, serene types, spouting one of their clever, oh-so-smug little platitudes. You'll always be the ugly reminder of what they really are, and what they actually do to win wars..." The Amalgam insisted. "They can't have that. Even after every disaster that has befallen the Jedi Order, they're still slaves to PR. In the end, your imprisonment or death is the only thing they will accept. But no legit Jedi will ever call you 'Master' without a snicker attached to the phrase."

"Leeve meez allonez, Amy."

The Amalgam sighed.

"As you wish. Back to the old grindfest..."

(CONTINUE?)

(YOU TYPED 'Y')

A snap of The Amalgam's fingers and Laertia was back in her body, watching a Bryn axe come down for her face as she lay on the ground stunned. Her Cyber arm had been badly damaged by blocking the Shaman's blast, its hand torn away completely and its forearm plating shredded by shrapnel. She was fairly certain her knee would have been broken. Toes were certainly shattered on the left foot, armor on that side that had taken most of the blast severely scorched, with parts of the shoulder plating having shattered and fallen off. Even her armor's painkiller systems could barely work against the agony. Her organic arm caught it, batted the axe blade away, using telekinesis to slam it into the chest of another rushing attacker. She forced herself up with telekinesis, just in time to duck a shot of molten bullets yanking a brute in front of her to soak up the fire. A cursory feel of her sensors confirmed it.

The mechanical hand may have been torn away but the sword hidden in the arm was still there...

It snapped into place with a Logan worthy snikt, and Laertia sliced open the throat of a Brute that had gotten too close, pulling out her Cryo Pistol and freezing one of the Baeduran that rushed to defend the Shaman. Keldothera Keldothera had her soldiers fire on Laertia also, and Laertia found herself grabbing another Brute, using hom to soak up bullet fire, while using his shredded body as a battering ram, charging into more, her arm sword decapitating one. Her weapons were at last sensed, and she began manipulating them with her mind after being slammed to the ground, a molten bullet grazing her leg and arm, leaving searing scorch marks on her flesh. The Katana punctured his head from behind.

Laertia refused to let The Amalgam break her, but she also refused to allow the Bryn'adul to take Nar Kreeta while she could still kill. Nothing would keep her from The Shaman, not his warriors, not her own doubts, not that huge ass Sandworm from Arrakis about to rip The Marketplace a new one, and certainly not the rest of these pretenders to the Mandalorian people's crown.

Her ash gray blade whipped through the hoardes of Bryn'adul converging on her from all sides, her danger sense helping her transition from combat move to the next, shooting them and flash freezing their faces. Looks of furious, fanatical hatred on them slowly giving way to doubt and terror.

The Shaman had used an Ultra Combo. She was out numbered by their strongest elites, all having tasted the blood of Jedi likely at some point. Her armor was barely working, heavily damaged, likely on the verge of failing completely if it took a few good hits more. Her mechanical hand had been torn away. Her cyber eye had stopped working entirely.

And yet...for all of that...they couldn't kill her...

Their terror grew even as they threw themselves at the cloud of death protecting her as she shot and stabbed her way through them, a cold, calm focus in her attacks, her Katana and saber slicing through parts that dared get too close as she fought, dodging chaingun fire or using their own bodies to soak up attacks as she had previously.

Other Jedi and SJC at last caught up, raining mortar fire and chaingun fire of their own, a few Jedi leaping right into the fray to help cover Laertia, who, rest assured, was greatful. They began fighting their way through the elites, Laertia trying to reach the Shaman once more, looks of fear growing on every Bryn'adul face she sliced through or caved in...

Caden hated command.

The explosion was heard before it was felt, the vibrations tearing through the ship. The warnings and sirens and shouting confirmed the young Jedi's worst fear, their last surviving engine had gone bang under the pressure and they were about to enter free fall towards the planet surface.

All because a rogue Bryn ship had taken out some engine power, a lot of people were about to loose their lives. A lot of people were going to die and Caden couldn't do much about it but make sure only people essential to the ship were on board.

Escape pods were being launched as he stared at the planet below, attempted to figure out a solution.

He had to admit, the call that he heard over the communications system almost filled him with hope, someone willing to at least guide them down. Sometimes it wasn't about stupid moves, it was about trusting other people to help you when every other option seemed lost.

"Reach out to that call sign, tell them to find the biggest collection of Bryn forces down there, if we're bringing this ship down we may as well take out as many of these god damn genocidal monsters as we can in our final breaths"

With little chance of survival, the communications officer nodded, using whatever power the ship had left to try and relay the message to the fighter pilot. Caden truly hoped she'd find somewhere suitable for the cruiser to come down, somewhere suitable for it to do as much damage as possible.

"Get me a channel raised with the ground command, I need them to hear this"

With every second passing, the planet was growing bigger and bigger as the cruiser fell towards it, completely caught in the gravitational well of the planet. Nothing Caden could do would get them out of the gravitational well, he just had to accept it.

"Find this communication number, patch him in as well"

Printed onto the little card he handed over were the communication details for Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion . Caden was almost certain he was on the planet below, he could feel him in the force. He was down there, and Caden wanted his friend to know that he didn't die in pain.

"Ground command, this is Caden Evesa, acting Commander of The Liberty's Revenge. Unfortunately this ship lost all engine power during the conflict with the Bryn, we're now coming down to the planet surface with incredible speed that we can't control. We're going to use the remains of this cruiser to take out as many of the Bryn forces as we can, making sure the inevitable deaths of the men and women left on this ship aren't a waste. We wish you luck in the battle to follow, and may the force be with all of you"

He shut down the communication and sigh.

Every bad decision crossed his mind, every worthless thing from the fight with Okkeus to the fact he'd never see people like Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser and Teyla Sal-Soren Teyla Sal-Soren again. He was giving his life in battle for the people who had raised him.

A tear fell down his cheek as he looked down to the planet surface. The cruiser was moving fast, whatever bridge crew was left was trying to angle it as best they could so that it caused the most damage to the Bryn forces currently fighting below him.

He patted Chirp on the dome. His little astromech droid had been with him since Caden had built him. It only seemed right that the droid would meet his end besides it's master, besides it's creator. Caden gulped as he felt the cruiser take out the top of a large building.

It continued past the metropolitan area, rubble falling below the ship as it carved it's way through. The young boy, who'd only assumed the role of commander due to the death of the previous watched as the outskirts came into view from the ship.

And then it hit the ground.

They were making ground, and slowly Kelda's and Osams forces were making their ways into the advancing force of Bryn'adûl Warriors. Across the outskirts and the battlefield within the city, they fought for every inch of ground they could. General Keldothera had arrived in the school district, good - they could rendezvous soon enough. Under his lead, the Draelvasier would survive this battle and carve out a section of the Silver's space for themselves. His Triad Chaingun ran hot, dropping another magazine as he ran out once more. He only had two left, but something in his gut told him these two last magazines would be the ones to make it count.

Here in the city centre, they'd finally made head-way into the thick of the enemies resistance. But for every advancement they made, more Drones and more Juggernauts died. But that would change soon enough, the Silver Jedi were now caught in their trap, and soon the Servitor would bury many of their forces. Kreeta City would be theirs, united and together the Draelvasier would take what rightfully belonged to them.

He could taste it, the iron of their blood was thick in the air, bitter. His eyes travelled down, a wounded jedi under his boot. He didn't make them suffer, but he didn't care for their suffering either way. He left the dying jedi behind, a dying creature wasn't worth the waste of bullets.

"Drek'ma, destroy the marketplace! Crush them, make them suffer!" The Ra'maks overhead ensured that the Silver Jedi's leaderless forces couldn't form a meaningful counter-attack. They were pinned, and now all of their best soldiers would be buried alive by the powerful beast masters of the Bryn.

Galak continued forward, charging up the steps into the enemies fortifications alongside his brothers; slaughtering them as they retreated. But something made him stop, a sudden realisation as a shadow swallowed the city whole. Galak looked overhead, eyes wide with bewilderment as a Silver Jedi cruiser came barrelling down into the outskirts, the ships nose engufled in the lick layer of sun quaker ink; crashing right into the depths of the battlefield beyond the city.

The Emissaries heart sunk in his chest, he heard it before he felt it. The explosion felt far off for the blink of an eye as a massive shockwave ripped through Kreeta City. Large buildings rumbled and fell, the already weakened and booby-trapped structure quaking as from beneath the Guardian moved to strike the city and a cruiser struck from the surface. Galak was thrown on his back, the buildings surrounding the steps and the archway overhead shattering, collapsing down onto the city, the Juggernaut Emissary barely rolling out of the way of the debris as dozens more explosions rippled through the battered city.

Galak tried to rise, choking on ash as he raised his communication gauntlet.

"Targant, Krarolk - can anyone hear me? Drek'ma, argaloth! Is anyone alive out there?"

Nothing in the darkness. The wreckage of the cruiser lay embedded in the swath of black ink like a lumbering corpse, no doubt surrounded by hundreds of dead on both sides. He didn't understand, his fists clenched - he didn't understand.

-

Galak raised his gauntlet, sending out a transmission across the entire battlent to every single Draelvasier on the planet that could still listen.

"Listen. ALL OF YOU WHO CAN HEAR ME. LISTEN! They are desperate, they know we will take this world. Rise up, rise to your feet. Do not let them win with their cowardly ways. We are all of us, the children of Khaeus and we will do as he decrees. Stand up, endure whatever they may throw at you. This is my command as Emissary of the Chieftian! Stand, united!" Galak paced back and forth as he spoke, those who had survived would rise.

The Bryn'adûl endured Yurb, they endured Ylseia, and they would endure whatever the Silver Concord tested them with. Unified, their strength was beyond any challenge.

Syd had gotten a distaste for Bryn'adul scum at Yurb. But with this latest tactic, blowing the exits, parts of the market place collapsing on her allies...Syd now knew she loathed them.

She was about to shout for Starlin to run, but Starlin Rand Starlin Rand was way ahead of her. Her urges told her to escape but her responsibility to her student and allies was paramount as well.

Syd flew above Starlin and the other soldiers as they ran, hurling away falling debris from crushing them with her mind, hurling massive fireballs ahead of them to kill the Bryn still ahead of the caved in exits they were running to. Bastards! They'd pay for this.

Syd landed in front of a blocked exit, crashing buildings and dead all around the rushing panicking soldiers as she hurled or blasted away at the debris with fireballs. But the Bryn'adul had made the exit cave ins thick and it took precious time they didn't have to hurl it all or blast it away so the soldiers could flee.

"Starlin! Get on the Comms and tell everyone to blast the debris away with whatever explosives they have! GO!"

Syd flew away from Him, deciding to look for other survivors, pulling away people who had been buried in rubble and directing them to run for her lives. She kept flying, intent to save as many as shd could who were still trapped, flying to other exuts and blasting debris away to help others escape. What was emerging? Debris hit her from a blindspot in mid air as she tumbled to the ground during the violent earthquakes

Pain like nothing she had known flooded her besides the broken arm as she hit the ground, skidding, and leaving streaks of glowing green blood from lascerations that opened up as she hit., deforming a bit, stunned, the suit enchantments going active to repair her damaged agonized body.

This was closer to death than she had been in a long time...

For a moment, Syd was tempted to let Death take her. This was a good way to go, fighting the kind of filth she had once been. She had defended good and fought evil, and while she would never be fully human, she had enjoyed at least a short time of getting close to it. Maybe this was a good place to die. A good way to die.

But then it filtered through.

They had nearly KILLED STARLIN!

They had nearly KILLED LAERTIA!

Syd refused to let those two things go.

The Bryn'adul were about to learn why you shouldn't piss off an Elite Sorceress.

Syd rose, the urge to survive filling her with new resolve.

The will of the Bryn'adul HAD to break. It HAD to BREAK. Because if it didn't break here, they'd become ten times more belligerent and vicious towards conquest.

The best chance to break it lay in killing this dumb giant worm pissing Frank Herbert's Ghost off not just in the fact it was about to emerge, but in how it would not be ridden by Kyle Maclachlan, or even just Stilgar. I'd have settled for AT LEAST a Patrick Stewart expy commanding it, with his Patrick Stewart-y-ness, but NOOOOOO, Bryn'adul gotta Bryn'adul.

Syd had to think. Everyone still here was in danger. She tried to fly up, only to get hit by more falling debris again, the eaethquakes growing more severe and relentless.

Syd clipped part of a building as she fell before she could use Force Flight, breaking her arm and shattering her right leg as she hit part of a fire escape on the way down. She hit the ground and felt the air leave her as her shoulder broke. The suit went to work again, but Syd was in so much pain she could barely crawl away, earthquakes happening all around her.

No choice now. She didn't use the Light, she was dead.

Syd triggered her Force Regeneration ability, flesh wriggling everywhere horribly on her skeleton as her bones and internal injuries repaired themselves in seconds. The bubbling abomination spotted a speeder and sprinted for it, barely dodging the falling debris. She barely started the speeder in time as the effects of her Regeneration cut off, leaving her heavily weakened and nauseated as she gunned the engines, barely staying conscious as she sped away....

Distantly, shd felt the cruiser crash in Kreeta City, a massive disturbance in the Force that she could feel even weak as she currently was.

They needed a win against the Bryn'adul NOW

  • 6x Obalisc Destroyers (2 Obaliscs killed, 1 Obalisc severely wounded, 2 Obaliscs at full strength | Surviving 3 stationed on hills overlooking the city walls, wounded individual inside the Protector | Targeting pink armored columns)
  • 1x Brumak (Full strength | Deployed in front of the surviving Obaliscs)
  • 3x Quilxyn Protectors (0%/8%/62% shielding | Deployed)
  • 3x Drael Skags (Full strength | personal mounts)
  • 40x Draeyde Bats (40/40 | In reserve)
All three Beast Masters were disrupted from their tasks by a massive thump that reverberated through the ground.
Minutes earlier, an ink screen had been spread over the outskirts to enable the Draeyde Bats to strike in massive quantities. Yet the triumph of the Draelvasier had been short-lived. A massive warship had sliced through the cloud, smashing into the ground with a resounding thump that nearly toppled the trio. Then, the shockwave arrived.

Fortunately for the Shamen, their Protector had enough energy remaining in it to absorb the wave and shrapnel, though it chipped a considerable portion of its durability. The Obaliscs were not as lucky. They had just stepped back after their third barrage when one of the two already-damaged Protectors burst, giving out and exposing the Obaliscs to a wave of rubble.

"I've lost the life signal of two of the Obaliscs and one Protector!" yelled one of the Beast Masters urgently.

At once, the conflict between Ostak and the second Master was forgotten. The pair took a report of their own units - the Brumak had been spared from damage, safely inside the intact Protector covering the Shamen. However, less than half of the Obaliscs remained, and only one severely damaged Protector to defend them. If equivalent casualties had not been inflicted upon the enemy formation, then the artillery beasts were likely doomed. Unless.

"Deploy the Brumak." ordered Ostak, his voice taking on a dangerous tone. "Send it to cover the last two Obaliscs."

"Yes, sir." replied the Beast Master who he had quarreled with minutes ago, conflict forgotten in the heat of the moment.

When all of their lives were on the line, heresy was irrelevant. Punishment would come later, but it would not interfere in battle.

The massive beast leaned back on its rear limbs, and then it bolted. While heavy and cumbersome, Brumaks could move incredibly fast in a straight line. It smashed through boulders as if they were bales of hay, practically immune to the wave of rubble that was rapidly filling the battlefield. Within a minute, it arrived on top of the ruins of the hill where the two remaining Obaliscs had finally pushed through the rubble around them and recalibrated their tentacles. The Brumak turned to the side, positioned in front of both Obaliscs with its heavy hide serving as a secondary barrier once the Protectors fell.

All three beasts stepped out from their Protector and fired their fourth and first salvo respectively, bolts and pulses of energy rippling in the direction where the enemy unit had been before the dust cloud from the crash obscured them.

Position Update: Two Obaliscs and the Brumak are just outside the one surviving Protector and opening fire. The third Obalisc is healing inside the Protector.

Sergei was pressing forward his attack when the Bryn he'd been targeting did something that while wasn't expected, was more than welcome. He seemed to realize that he was pinned and that Sergei's men were encircling him to drive him into dust. Which must have been what possessed the thing to turn towards him and charge.

Sergei smiled under his helmet for a brief moment, seeing the challenge presented. And with that he quickly stowed his rifle drawing his sword with his right hand and the hand cannon in his left.

He most certainly accepted this challenge.

He would raise the hand cannon as he charged back, blade low for a strike meant to cut hip from shoulder as he leveled the pistol and began firing. Class-D disruptor rounds shot out from the angry weapon held by a man who most would say was too angry to die. Sergei would fire ten times by the time he closed the gap between them, swapping his fighting stance from a frontal charge to an aggressive forward stance as he would send a flurry of attacks right behind his initial blow, interspersing each attempted strike with a Disruptor shot. Sergei was extremely determined to take the offense in this fight and keep his opponent fighting defensively. Because if he could keep the attack he would get more chances to strike, more chances to potentially kill.

Meanwhile around him soldiers and droids were engaged in an all out brawl with the forces of this Ashaka. TCD-2Ds were massacring the smaller more numerous foes with volumous firing from their 40mm Heavy Autocannons, when they weren't literally tearing them apart with either Raptor Claws or their own physical strength. But these numbers seemed endless and while there were losses on their side as well the ground due to droids being overwhelmed, a new challenger appearing would shake up the landscape, quite literally.

The massive flying war beasts fired their beams at the ground cutting through building and ground alike. The resulting loss in stability and compromise of structural integrity of the buildings would cause them to start falling. This sudden change of the battle space would catch more than a few Commandos off guard, taking them down with the buildings. The scene would turn chaotic as once narrow streets were turned into a rubble strewn suddenly wide nightmare scenario. Droids would become buried under the rubble, and Sergei would look at the offending beasts with rage, but would say nothing. His ship's commander would deal with the problem.

******
And the beasts arrival hadn't gone unnoticed above. As F-4 Dragons flew combat air patrol missions, quickly moving to intercept the Hive Bombers and Swarms of fliers, War Hound Dropships flew across various formations of Bryn, firing their 35mm Autocannons with deadly accuracy and devastating power. Across the city platoons of The Dire Wolves Security Forces would deploy to the field, not being nearly as well armed or equipped as their Commando brethren, but still being an undeniably lethal asset on the ground. Captain Kerensky would manage all of this orchestra as he conducted the very music of death and war. He would look towards his comms officer and speak quickly.

"Comms, get Red Squadron on the horn, I don't care what their ammo status is. Kill those two CAS assets harassing our ground forces. Maximum force authorized,"

"Aye sir,"

Meanwhile a squadron of 8 F-4 Dragons would immediately bank from their current mission and go racing across the sky. Their scanners would immediately lock up the targets in question, the 50 meter assault vessels coming into view on their HUDs. Pilots would watch the targets light up on their HUD as fire control systems first acquired radar lock, then thermal, and then optical lock before getting a green indicator.

"RED 1, FOX 2,"

"RED 2 TWO TIMES FOX 2,"

"RED 3, FOX 2,"

Weapons bays would open briefly as the three of 8 craft expended their remaining SIM-01 missiles at the enemy gunships. The multi-lock technology aboard the missiles would make spoofing the lock or otherwise tricking the missiles extremely difficult. But it was never safe to rely on a missile or two alone as the ships spread into a two flying V formations, each lined up onto one of the gunships as they went to guns. Their high speed pass would make the engagement window small, but long enough to get shots on. And they couldn't risk slowing down. Firing their Deimos Laser cannons and 14mm HMGs they would send off a few bursts of fire before breaking left and right respectively, fighting the Gs of the maneuver as they performed their overhead pass to confirm a Battle Damage Assessment on the enemy gunships.

Meanwhile Anvil flight had just dropped its infantry payload and got the call from local forces in area of the school yard that support was needed. Anvil lead would call out to its fellow drop ships and bank hard towards the combat zone. What they saw on thermal imaging and enhanced sensors made them sick to their stomachs. The ground was mess, friendlies mixed in with enemies, way too close for them to just fire missiles and dump munitions willy nilly. Anvil lead would devise a battle plan as they adjusted course for their attack run.

"Anvil flight adjust course one niner zero for thirty seconds, then make heading tree, fower, fife and ready weapons. Weapons are to be set to Tight, only engage enemy groups, try not to hit any of ours ladies,"

The heavy gunships would respond with their affirmatives, banking left in formation as they set up their attack run, before coming back right with weapons armed. Similar HUDs in gunner seats would light up, this time with a moving reticule that followed the gunner's head. Each ship took a quick assessment before switching up their Master Arm. 35mm Autocannons would begin moving as gunners selected their targets, and locked a few SIM-06 Hellfire missiles onto a few of the heavier targets, and would pull the trigger for the main cannons.

Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump

35mm Armor Piercing rounds would be sent flying at clusters of enemies, enemies in buildings clearly shooting out, and/or otherwise anything that looked larger than a standard trooper that was a reasonable target. Reasonable being it was clearly more of a threat to whatever it was next to than the gunner accidentally hitting a friendly. Half a second later several SIM-06 missiles would be sent off the rails to engage multiple Rhi'vaks on the ground with the express intent of using their HEAT based warheads to specifically kill whatever Rhi'vak had been targeted in question.

*******
Sergei had just saw the warning from the incoming fire and turned mid swing to counter with his own pistol, the armor plating managing to deflect a few rounds as they cut right through his shields, when a much bigger problem made itself clear. A SJC Cruiser was falling directly on top of his position. Or at least what seemed like it. Sergei would leap to the air with his thrusters and repulsorlifts, firing on the newcomer to his little duel as he spoke aloud for the first time since accepting the Bryn's challenge.

"How rude,"

He would fire the remaining eight shots at the Bryn attempting to flank him, but that wasn't his intended response to their interruption. The four droids that Sergei had sent on a bold flanking maneuver had survived the buildings collapsing, and now had flanks on both of them, and Sergei's personal droid understood the change in plan. He would turn to face the newcomers, the three others behind him doing the same, as they raised their two TDW HARM Rifles, and FI-LWMMGs, and opened fire on the offenders, going cyclic for thirty seconds in a burst of angry heavy assault rifle and medium machine gun fire. Their armor piercing payloads would zip through the air, cracking as any near misses next to Keldothera Keldothera would make it known he wasn't the only one with troops in flanking positions. Meanwhile on the rooftops more Commandos were now jumping to and fro as they used their new armor to give them an advantage they didn't have on Yurb. Mobility, increased strength, and aggression. Where the Rhivaks on Yurb possessed the advantage in speed and strength on Yurb, they'd find newly hardened members of The Ghost Company much better equipped now. More of the TCD-2Ds would be taken down, but now that this had devolved into a quite literal melee members of the Bryn would find out just how terrifying a TCD-2D was with its Raptor Claw blade and massive amount of strength even compared to them. The Ghost Company meanwhile above would throw every last satchel charge they had at anything remotely hostile, firing HARM rifles, LWMMGs, and MAAWS Mod 2s at whatever targets presented themselves. And in the middle of it was Sergei floating between Sylok'Vanari Sylok'Vanari and Keldothera Keldothera .

"If you think it'll take two of you to kill me, I welcome this challenge. And I swear on the souls of my dead, for all who died on Yurb," Sergei paused as he looked between the two of them.

"I'll kill every last one of you, even if I have to do it myself,"
And almost as if on cue, the sound of 35mm Autocannon rounds cracking through the air as they pulverized the surrounding buildings identified as enemy targets would permeate the air. This was quickly followed by the actual firing of the weapons as the Gunships made their slower pass, using their Autocannons to spread death and destruction to every corner they could while sparing the majority of SJC forces. This followed by the explosion of several DEX Satchel charges behind Sergei would let everyone know this mercenary, nay, this madman meant business. The Dire Wolf would not surrender, he would not give, and he would have his vengeance.

Sergei's TGC forces and droids had been the bait for the Bryn to try and collapse on. And now with TDW Security Forces and even more commandos from the standard TDW Companies ready to be deployed, Sergei was ready to make the Bryn pay tenfold, no a hundred fold for what they'd done to his men on Yurb. His men were poised to strike like a vengeful god, and Sergei's objective was to make the insignia of the Snarling Wolf. His men fought knowing no fear but their own brethren unavenged before their own deaths, and the terrifying accuracy and savagery of the TCD-1Ds and 2Ds. Sergei had unleashed a veritable hell on earth. And he didn't care if he had to flatten the entire grid square. Or sixteen. Not a single one of these Bryn would escape his nor his men's wrath.

Not a single one.

Moments after the squad began their charge, the sky exploded.
At least, that was what the Zealots thought happened. A massive light from an explosion filled the dark sky, momentarily blinding the unit and stalling their advance. Just as Krarolk's eyes had adjusted to the light of the blast, he saw a large boulder split a Minor in two. The explosion had created a shockwave, and the shockwave carried debris.

"Get down, now!" yelled Krarolk, diving to the ground with such haste that he nearly split his chestplate open on a pile of shrapnel nearby.

The squad dove along with him, but not all of them made it in time. Another Minor was crushed by a boulder four times his size, and he began crying out desperately in pain and agony.

"Help! Help! HELP!!!"

Krarolk attempted to draw upon the last dregs of his spiritual energy, only for something large and hard to slam into him with enough strength to pin him against the ground. Unlike the desperate Minor, he seemed to be under something light enough to keep him from suffocating. However, the thought of being helpless as his comrade was crushed was almost as painful. There were many ways in which a Draelvasier could go out honorably on the battlefield. However, dying by suffocation was not one of them. It was a demise that no being, Draelvasier or otherwise, would ever wish upon themselves.

The Minor's cries gradually waned as the rock sunk deeper into his flesh, until his misery was finally ended.

Krarolk had stopped feeling emotion the moment the other Minor was torn apart in the blink of an eye.

Such loss, such devastation, such chaos. The Elite could no longer tell what lay in front of him, or who lay by his side. He was numb in both mind and spirit, so very close to breaking. He should have never left the Elite Squad - at least then, he would have died among his kin. Yet he still had a responsibility. For once, he had kin to protect. So, if just to see his kin one last time, Krarolk rose up against the force constraining him.

Two more Zealot corpses were on top of the Elite. He swung violently to the right, tossing the bodies away. They were mutilated beyond repair, pierced by countless chunks of stones and steel. When the unit slowly rose, only five Zealots remained. The survivors had no words left - their precious energy was now solely invested in their muscles and breathing. As they looked around them, they saw the carnage that had inflicted their squad had been repeated for kilometers around.

The shockwave had spared neither side - Draelvasier and alien forms lay in piles almost as large as those of the rocks displaced by the explosion. A vast cloud of dust enveloped the entire area, reducing the vision of the unit to a considerable extent. Even the fighting did not cease, as scattered survivors from each side rose to battle, even with torn limbs and broken morale. It was likely that the Jedi girl the squad had rushed towards was dead under the rubble - for now, their main priority was survival.

"Fall back and regroup." rasped Krarolk, nearly falling to his knees as he used up his precious breath.

The command broke the shattered unit out of their trance of despair, and they wordlessly followed the Elite as he began to seek a new objective in the ruined battlefield.
