Wordlessly, Zandra stood up, left the half empty glass on the table. She didn't hear it. Didn't know. Didn't know. Didn't know. He could tell her himself, then she'd believe it. Not a second before. But why hadn't he mentioned her? She thought... well, he made it sound like she was important to him...
"Don't let me catch you in my turf again," she said, voice flat as a board, "And tell Cal to come soon. If I'm gunna make a decision about this kid, I gatta know soon."
She shoved her hands deep in the pocket of her leather jacket, cast another glance at the man who shared Calico's face, and turned her back on him.
