I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more (Zaren Bouqi & Lady Exedō)

"If they insist on not being able to do it without a proper title, yes," Brumhilda nodded fiercly, "if someone refuses to help those in need although they can, just because no one will properly call them Master Jedi or something equally stupid, then they are definitely not good. They are vain and vapid and work directly to satisfy their personal ego!"

Setting the glass down, she took a deep breath.

"And those were the Jedi when... Before..." how was she even supposed to define it? "Before you found me."

"Sometimes people only do helpful things so that they can receive some form of reward. Some enjoy it in the form of praise, or simply acknowledgement. There are so many people in this Galaxy, you look upon the surface of society, look a little deeper Brumhilda, and you will find that there is kindness, and those who genuinely help people simply because they feel they must."

He said so with a smile. A genuine one when he explained to her.

He felt as if he was speaking with a Padawan. In some ways he was he supposed, but he made no mention of it.

The smile she returned him was a bitter one.

"I have been cast into the very depths of society. Tossed between Jedi and Sith like a puppet, used and abused wherever either side saw fit. I'm sure you will understand that my faith in society as some wonderful and deep entity is nonexistent. The kindness is in individuals, and even that, is temporary, at best."
