The Jedi was proving to be more difficult to detach than he had wished. A few choice words, different from the direction he took, could have dislodged her. At least, that was what he believed. Had he been too gentle? Perhaps he hadn’t been calm enough? Gau had an impossibility around aggression and violence, even purposeful and directed violence. Understanding why it was done, why it was used to solve issues that words could dance around, confounded him. Even as a Knight, his blade was raised as a final resort, the promise of conflict that it offered hovering at his side was more than enough for most people to take him earnestly on his words.
The Jedi was an exemplar of their Order’s determination, that was unmistakable. As sure and strong as the cliffs against a raging loch. The curt threat that she offered to him, undertoned by an offer of mercy and escape, solidified that ideal in his mind. She did not want this anymore than he did. With the alarms blaring, and the force steady in the air, perhaps there was still hope. Perhap-
What? Backup?
Gau turned his head just in time to feel a wave of energy barrel past him and slam into the newcomer like a hoard of beasts. Sending her jettisoning down the hallway, knife dug into the paneling and sending a shower of sparks to enlighten the scene. He brought up a hand to cover his eyes, their naturally photosensitive makeup screaming at the display.
“Who are-” He began, the statement dying in his throat as the woman rushed past the alien, blaster bolts thundering ahead of her charge, the onslaught sending up even more bright showers to dazzle and bewilder the knight.
He only had caught the briefest sight of New Imperial cloth, or he would have assumed that Aerys was a rogue agent, and have set upon her in self defense.
Backing away from the chaos, he thumbed over the activator of his saber. The short spear fissioned into life, with a sharp flash at the emitter before the platinum light. The lightlance was still kept low, and the knight made no forward attempts to engage either the Jedi or Aerys. Watching and waiting, keeping himself a few feet back from the engagement, not letting his spear leave the low fool’s guard that he now held in both hands.
“Barbarian! You waste your energy in pointless contest! This facility is damned!”
