PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Jacen is a very staunch imperialist, believing a firm hand is the only way the Galaxy can be safe and has dedicated his life to making an Imperial galaxy a reality, believing in the rule of the strong. Only the Sith have the strength to rule the Galaxy, so only they are allowed to do so.

Jacen also believes in self-betterment, never resting on his laurels or that he is ‘good enough.’ He will always push his limits, and takes it as a challenge whenever someone is better than him in his field, his drive to become the best alienated himself from his class and squadmates.

In situations of high anticipated stress, the calm before the storm, Jacen will often resort to anxiously rambling as a coping mechanism in an attempt to wrestle some semblance of control. However, when the blasters start flying and his team needs him, He dedicates everything he has to the mission.

HISTORY

Born on Bespin to the wealthy Breska family, Jacen spent most of his young life on the family’s Tibana gas station, a situation that did well to create in Jacen a sense of superiority, as everyone around him worked for his family, or their family did. Kids were told to be his friend, listen to him, and all adults around him feared upsetting him for fear of losing their job.

This setting did not cause Jacen to become lazy or complacent, however. As he grew older he began to realize all of his achievements, all of his relationships, were simply a result of nepotism, a realization that haunted him. To counteract this, Jacen would work hard, applying himself to his studies and, at the first opportunity, accepting an offer to study at a prestigious Imperial University along with other wealthy students of the Empire.

Finally surrounded by peers, Jacen grew in Imperial ideologies, coming to revere
strength and domination and applying these newfound ideas to his studies, quickly excelling to the top of his class. Achieving supremacy in a setting not defined only by his family name, Jacen grew egotistical, finally feeling deserving of the success he had, not only over those poorer than himself but even among those of his peers. This egotistical feeling continued as he graduated the academy with honors and was selected to join the Imperial Officer’s Academy.

Having joined the Imperial Military in order to go to the academy, Jacen was happy to be serving, or training to serve, the truest source of strength in the Galaxy. His instructors, however, were less enthused by his personality. Jacen quickly revealed himself to be arrogant, even by Imperial standards, deeming his instructors incapable of teaching him something he did not already know, and finding their instruction methods on things he ‘didn’t’ know lacking, preferring to teach himself.

This attitude, far away from any influence of his family, did little to endear him to the administration of the Academy and it wasn’t long until Jacen was kicked out of the Academy, reassigned to the Stormtrooper Corp and stripped of his identity to receive only a unit designation and a number. This setting embittered Jacen, surrounded again by people undeserving of his presence and intellect, yet he thrived, applying himself to his training, unwilling to allow the peasantry to surpass him in any way. When finally he graduated, it was as it always had been at the top of his class. An honor that usually came with benefits that would include admittance into an Officer’s Academy, yet as he thought he was shipping to give the Academy another try, to do things differently, Jacen was suddenly shipped to an Imperial border world.

The 913th Stormtrooper Legion, Patrol Squad 13 was a posting that would have been a career dead end for Jacen, as it was for the rest of his squadmates, until one fateful evening command had ordered his squad to patrol out into the wilderness surrounding the Imperial base. Another forgettable assignment on a forgettable planet, until suddenly an explosion rocked the base. Rebel freedom fighters, desperate to cast off Sith influence, had launched an attack on the garrison in force, shattering the defenses in a blitz attack that the unprepared and lazy Imperials could never possibly be ready for. Patrol Squad 13 was lucky, in that the brunt of the attack had managed to bypass them initially, but when they returned to the base they found it in ruins as a desperate defense was still being mounted by the Imperial garrison, a defense they joined.

During this engagement, Jacen performed admirably, yet following the battle he alone remained. The entire garrison was destroyed, along with the rebel attack. The affair caused the Imperials to abandon their garrison on the planet for the time being, and Jacen was reassigned, a survivor of his like would not be wasted on a forgettable assignment on a forgettable planet no longer.
