Description: The Jkri are generally made up of Shi. There are masterful at melee combat, the type you’d want to send against Zabrak’s who are likewise known for their close combative skill. However, the Jkri are immensely more devoted to their leaders, and utilize their Vo and Akrash to increase their physical abilities considerably. Like most Vran, the Jkri are very religious and see their service as a necessity, willing to expend their lives for the Vran’Ti. They are however much more lacking in ranged combat, using slugthrowers, throwing spears, catapults such as bows or trebuchets, and lacking almost any blasters.
Unit Size: Large
Unit Availability: Common
Unit Experience: Trained
Combat Function:
The Jkri serve as the basic soldier combined with law enforcement of the Vran’Ti. Short of being a slave soldier, it is the lowest rank available but is considered something of an honor regardless, to be considered good enough to serve the Vran’Ti. They are the ones doing most of the battlefield work, guarding locations, etc. They are also the ones to operate any trebuchets and likewise. They have excellent teamwork and usually work to serve strategic goals, taking advantage of their duraplast shields and spears to work together as an impenetrable force that destroys once they close in.
The Jkri’s natural physical state is very fit human but with a very high stamina and pain tolerance
Vo: Using their Vo (a force sensitive organ) they can greatly increase their physical abilities, with around 1/12 possessing a form of telekinesis which is reliant on hand gestures, essentially mimicking invisible arms with greater strength and distance. This ability is often used to prevent incoming grenades and other projectiles from reaching them.
Akrash: The drug they have also increases their physical attributes for a time focusing on speed and strength
Terrain: As a result of the use of such physically enhancing abilities such as their Vo or the Akrash, the Jkri can get in far more terrains then most humanoid species without help. Allowing them to work in jungles immensely well due to the various jumping points and cover it allows, or crossing vast distances far more quickly.
Melee: The Jkri are deadly physical combatants and specialize in spear, small swords/large daggers, shields, and unarmed. They are considered superior to zabraks when it comes to melee proficiency. The use of spears also helps them deal with those who use swords or axes, having enough range to easily strike them down or backstep without getting too close.
Personal Equipment: Their equipment is actually made with the knowledge they are inferior in technology to others. Using mainly blaster resistant materials, and especially using reinforced duraplast shields. This allows them to close in as a group or alone using their shields until they can get close enough to fight.
Teamwork: The Jkri are excellent at mass teamwork or work in small groups. They are well coordinated and are good at following orders.
Self medics: The Jkri have considerable biological knowledge like most Vran, this not only allows them to operate on themselves or their fellow Jkri. But also allows them to more quickly pinpoint weaknesses in their opponents biology.
Range: Due to only using trebuchets, slugthrowers, and otherwise more low technology forms of ranged weapons the Jkri are considered inferior in such situations that require it.
Vehicles: The Jkri don’t use many vehicles, usually just having some pulled by creatures or very basic repulsor-lift craft.
Offense: Unless up close, the biggest weapons a Jkri will use is a catapult or ballista. While this may be great for physical damage or attacks against large groups, it’s more inefficient against the right types of shields.
Armor: The Jkri’s armor can still fall to enough blaster fire, and many Jkri don’t even like wearing it, often leaving their torso’s or limbs open to damage.
The Vo can have it’s abilities prevented or weakened by use of void-stones or ysilimir like fields.
The Jkri are some of the most basic type of military force used by the Vran’Ti. The term just means soldier, plain and simple. They preform many of the basic actions of the military and serve as a sort of primary soldier/law enforcement operative. They are deadly at close range and have excellent teamwork and cooperation. Though they have rather inferior technology in weapon regards, their focus on close range and speed they possess usually helps them close that distance fast enough to pose a threat, this is further aided by their Vo and use of the Akrash drug, which supplement their physical abilities to far beyond human comparable.
