Judge Discussion

[member="Eralam"]

So, for round one, what say we split the judgments up between us? We can do the same for round two, and so forth. (You probably already had this idea, but I figured this'd put us on the same page.)

Yeah, got it in one. We split the judgments in half. And since we don't have enough to fill an 8 man bracket the next go, each of us picks out favorite loser as a wild card to move onto the next round.

Hey all, so I don't know how to judge others. I'm basically one of those yes men, who gives a thumbs up and a smile when someone asks me if something they did was good in real life, as I typically do not attach myself to any given situation to form a true opinion.

In fact, one of my core difficulties in life is forming an opinion when it involves people I know. Most often than not, I take the neutral road and support neither and both in equal portions. I attempt to mediate discussions, but never decide the "victor". So while I am aware that these references exist as a Duelist, trying to set myself into the mentality of a Judge and read them is impossible.

Could we perhaps make a guide for newbie Judges who need to be told what to look for specifically? It's one thing to understand how to take a measured hit, to decide when to be hit, and how to be generally respectful of your opponent when it's yourself, but applying that same logic when it's two strangers? I can't wrap my head around it.

Help please!

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to at some point. The old guide, while entertaining, assumes a certain amount of foreknowledge. Most everyone who applied for the position of judge had already been through at least a score of duels themselves and had a general idea of what they were looking at. That's just not the case here, and we don't have that foundation to build off of.

Thanks for picking that up.

The threads should autolock tomorrow morning at 1000 EST. I just found out that my schedule for this week just went arse over teakettle, so how much I'll be around is anyone's guess. And starting tomorrow evening, I'll be gone for a few weeks.
