- Underslung mount for flashlight or fibercord launcher (range 40m).
- Extremely powerful sidearm, capable of slicing through heavy armor, or ven vehicle/starfighter plating given enough time.
- Sustained beam is more difficult to block with a lightsabre. Minute errors and natural beam travel can cause partial damage and grazing hits for tiny fractions of a second. Basically it's just a messy weapon to fight if you're a Jedi, though a seasoned Knight or Master shouldn't have too much trouble.
- Can serve as an ascension gun or emergency zero-gravity maneuvering aid.
- Very low ammunition capacity.
- The user has a glowing line drawn straight to them for a quarter of a second.
- Very loud and distinctive.
- No stun setting; Judges need to use other weapons to subdue targets without injury.
Bard Independent built the Jurisprudent Composite Beam Sidearm on special contract for some of the Judges of the Outer Rim Coalition. Miniature composite beams are not unheard of, but the Jurisprudent may be the most efficient handheld composite-beam weapon ever created. Four barrels produce continuous beams, which converge a handspan in front of the weapon. The resulting beam can drop a ronto or a spacetrooper - the latter being one of the intended targets. After many zero-gravity engagements, both the Judges and Connory find value in a weapon that can punch through a space suit's armor, a gunship's windshield, or a freighter's hatch. There are huge tradeoffs, though, primarily ultra-low ammunition capacity and high visibility. If you're using a Jurisprudent in a gunfight, you want that fight to end quickly, or you should get ready to run.
