Kashyyk invasion- objective 2

[member="Book"] - you make me wish I'd logged in with Phoenix in time to grab an ally slot for this. Next time ;)

Also, folks, I posted in the public OOC but didn't post here. I'm in for Objective 2. Shapeshifting kitty at your service.

For one thing we will have to make use of the NPC troopers to counter their NPC use. We will also have to read through the NPC actions carefully. They often win objectives by distracting with their characters and using NPCs to devastating effect. The object is to destroy the stronghold not capture so expect planting of explosives and such.

Will do. In that case, think we should have someone behind the front lines, watching from afar? In that way, they could counter whatever the Sith have to bring, and warn the others whenever they're trying to be sneaky. [member="Kian Karr"]

Yeah I'm not sure I like how negotiating has gone in terms of objectives shifting a few days prior to the actual Invasion. Even if it's a few words, those few words can essentially mean a loss.

B. The Republic Stronghold

One Sith Objective - Destroy the stronghold (taken by Selena and Ben Watts and used by the jedi as a base of operations during the Dominion of Kashyyk and Trandosha)

Republic Objective - Defend the Stronghold from destruction. (Please provide a map on set up for this for ease of convenience)

B. The Republic Stronghold

One Sith Objective - Capture and Occupy or Destroy the stronghold (taken by Selena and Ben Watts and used by the jedi as a base of operations during the Dominion of Kashyyk and Trandosha)

Republic Objective - Defend the Stronghold from capture and occupation or destruction. (Please provide a map on set up for this for ease of convenience)

With no draw if the stronghold is destroyed and it still being a One Sith Victory.

With Praelior coming for Objective B, you can guarantee that Destroy is going to happen if we're able to gain a lead.

Yes, well I feel we have to stay in control and get them into areas where we know we can hold the defense. If its an option I would suggest we destroy some of the branches that act as bridges, limiting and delaying them, forcing them to go down specific paths.

For example: the larger branches act as bridges where it seems larger objects(vehicles/tanks) can travel and the thinner ones are good for infantry.

EDIT: i'm thinking we destroy the southwest bridge, east bridge, and a portion of the southeast bridge to try and keep the battle to the North side.

We could use the Wookie npc unit to attack the flanks since they would know the terrain better, and with the help of the Katarn they could easily get to certain locations with ease.

For me... I think staying active will be my number one objective. ^^

Otherwise... I support [member="Sochi Ru"]'s idea to limit their NPC movements to a few specific paths.

[member="Sochi Ru"] It's a good idea, but that effectively makes us the Alamo.

Cutting off all of the bridges gives us a choke point, but what it also boxes us in. Reinforcement and resupply would be impossible, and the sheer flood of Sith soldier, Sithspawn, and their hordes of apprentices coalesced into one position could realistically overrun us.

That being said, it's still a viable option. It gives us a clear line of fire, and we won't have to worry too much about covering the other exits.

My main concern is the fact that they can win by destroying the base. If we cut off all routes for our own escape (save for the partially destroyed Southeast bridge) and they manage to set a charge in the right place, we're going to have a very bad day.

Those are just the cons, of course. I expect Praellor to have climbing beasts or some other silly thing, so I worry destroying the bridges would be more detrimental to us than the Sith.

Unless there's a secret back door or something.

I'm more for setting anti-personal explosives or IEDs on the less defended bridges at random intervals. The stall it would take for their people to navigate around the mine field would give us more than enough time to safely pick them off.

[member="Kian Karr"] I will be focusing on my Graug and Peacekeepr NPCs. TACOPS is my main game, but I have no idea how to utilize Wookies....so I'll leave that to you fine folk. :p

[member="Marakai Al'Orren"] There can only be one dear. Statistics show we kill each other and glass worlds when put into groups. Ask Drunkenwell.

I can do this.

No brothers to have dramatic death fights with this time. Afraid the other ones are all dead.

We can still glass planets though, if you want.

Nova will be sitting this one out. She wasn't active in January due to semi-LOA and focus being on Aaralyn. I've completed the full transition though from OP to Republic, considering she's done more for the Republic than OP...

Didn't want to cause a stir or a commotion and ask that it be exempt considering she was a member of both and did more for the Republic similar to other situations. I left it alone

Kiyron

Kiyron will be there with a portion of Rogue Regiment, with the rest sent to the other objective. They're guerilla-oriented, no-holds-barred, special forces soldiers. Kiyron is a sniper who specializes specifically in woodland environments.

And I checked about the bridges, it's works against us if those are destroyed.
Edit: Nevermind. That was for Kochiro tree home, not this one.

I was going to have the Rogues spread out through the forest in the vicinity to operate hit and run strikes on all Forces approaching from every direction before disappearing again. Kiyron himself will be up above in one of trees with his sniper rifle to monitor and deploy NPC forces. We also have deployable turrets and mines to use, so part of the Rogue's mission would be to deploy those around the base but off the bridges and work with the wookies to maintain some modicum of air superiority to make crossing the bridges an extremely costly and challenging affair.

My concern is the tech they will be bringing in, large vehicles/tanks can only cross two of all the bridges. Having all the access points open seemingly leaves us open to be overrun and with them coming in hordes, things would end very quickly.

I doubt it, I feel we should get rid of the portions of the Southeast and west bridges closes to the stronghold. That way they have no choice but take the spare bridges across to the much larger ones. That way we still limit advance on all sides and we can use the East bridge for supply and retreat if necessary.
