Kept them secret, kept them safe. [Ashin | Spencer]

There was an expression that grew on the man's face that neither of the women had seen there before: sheepishness.

"Ah," Dissero lifted a hand to scratch at his head, fingers larking through long, unshorn wisps of dark brown, "so...I'm going to be a father. It wasn't a planned kind of thing-well, it was planned but, no...I mean. I've always wanted kids," hand gestures followed now, he was no longer making eye contact, "just not...now...yet? But it's happening, and somehow I envisioned these sorts of things going a bit more according to plan," narrowed eyes looked up at an invisible timeline before him as he indicated upon it with ticks of his hands, "find girl, woo girl, date girl, mushy stuff, drama, mushy stuff, propose, get married, have kids, mushy stuff."

He peered, brows knit, hand went to face as he leaned back against a stack of crates and hitched one foot over the other, "somewhere between the Empire and Velok and Alchemy things got a little...jumbled."

"So I guess what I'm trying to get at is...Ashin, would you do me the great honor of marrying me to my future wife?"

Ashin disentangled her attention from the artifacts and plans and moods of the moment, and offered the archivist a slow blink.

“...me?” Why me? she didn’t say. Modesty, true or false, had never been part of her repertoire. Even so, the idea struck her as incongruous. She’d wielded authority of just about every kind except ecclesiastical, unless you counted the title ‘Dark Lord of the Sith’ as a religious position. I suppose I could get accredited died on her tongue as well. He wasn’t asking her for the sake of any particular faith or spiritual ethos; he was asking her as herself. And to that, there could only be one answer. Anything else would be stupid.

“Of course I’ll do it,” she said after a second too long, “and thank you for asking me. I haven’t met your fiancée, but I can’t imagine you taking this step with anyone less than an equal, so I don’t doubt she’s something special. So far, of course, our association has been fairly low-key. The more public the function, the less that remains true, but I’m comfortable with whatever degree of exposure you prefer.” She bared her teeth and thought of the last time she’d seen Moridin: a fight on the wrecked bridge of a five-millennium-old cruiser, hurtling through hyperspace without the cruiser attached. “Maybe I’ll even run into your grandfather again. I’m told he’s gone for good, but I have my doubts. Don’t worry: best behaviour.”

Spencer's face lit up. She was overjoyed to know that Dissero had found someone, though there was a tiniest of tiny cracks appearing in her heart knowing that Dissero was now going to be a married man. The blonde had grown attached to his consistent attention to her. Still, to know that someone she cared for had found someone that he cared for as well was a good thing and nothing could stray her happiness. She let the two talk knowing that she was the third wheel in this situation. Her attention quickly moved to the codex in her hands and she admired its handiwork. Spencer wondered if one day she would be able to do something like this, but knowing her it would just be a storybook to pass to her child's children or something. The adventures of the wayward padawan, it always had a ring to it.

Once the two exchanged words, Spencer's typical girlish giggle escaped her lips. "Ah lucky lady! Weddings, I love them...though something bad tends to happen..." Shaking her head, she sighed dreamily. "I remember our wedding like yesterday Ashin..."

"Ah-haha!" if ever Ashin Varanin had been hugged by anyone other than her beloved wife he hadn't the foggiest clue, but the Archivist was overjoyed at her response and acting in the moment. Dissero seized the woman around the waist in a tight embrace, all 5'11'' and 170lbs of her, wheeling the former Empress around in a jubilant spin. No shame to be had.

She could gut him for this and that was a stupid risk he was willing to take.

"Oh, thank you-" Ashin's feet were on the ground again with the Archivist standing before her, beaming through his beard, blue eyes just a hint of misty, "I didn't think you would. It will be a private ceremony, very small, quiet," the man rubbed at his eyes with a sound of relief, turning a wayward smile to Spencer at her comment on their own wedding, "there will be a public wedding on Kuat at a later date, but I don't care about that one. It's only for show ... to make my mother happy."

"My grandfather?" looking back at Ashin he quirked a brow, "Who do you mean?"

"Weddings are-"

The profundity of Ashin's opinion was lost to posterity for all time as suddenly motion. Muscle memory got a fairly serious down, boy, but Ashin found herself...awkward as a result. Then again, she defied anyone in the real world to be swung around gracefully. She was somewhat grateful when he feet touched the deck.

"Least I could do," she managed, straightening her hair. "Grandfather -- ah, feth, I screwed up the family tree again, I'm sorry. I come from a small family, very low percentage of dynasty, and I still can't keep my in-laws straight. I remember that you're related to Moridin. How are you related to Moridin?"

"Moridin," now there was a name he hadn't heard in a while, "...is the father of my niece's son."

Had to think about that for a moment, and then think about how to answer without giving away names. Dissero shrugged, "I don't think you'll need to worry about him. There's a black handprint on my chest that says he's gone for good. He wouldn't be invited anyway. The man would scare my fiancée."

Spencer kept her self busy musing over the wedding details. That was until Dissero made it a point that the ceremony would be private. Small tiny daggers stabbed her little heart as she stood there with a smile, though dying on the inside. Either way, weddings were often made for the guest and sometimes never what the couple wants. That was a thought that went through her own mind for her wedding, remembering the disasters that were the ones that her and Ashin had attended. Leaving the two to discuss, Spencer began to busy herself with the Aing-Tii Codex.

The mention of Moridin came up and she glanced towards Dissero. "That man was an odd one, I remember when Ashin sent me to learn from him - he was more interested in finding out who I was and then taught me how to Force Walk. Odd Man."
