STRENGTHS
- Fully Automated: As expected from an N&Z ship, it comes decked out with its own AI in order to remove the majority of menial tasks from the hands of the pilots , and usually can also take over the firing duties as well. Coupled with the ship's sensory array and connection to the datalink and hololink networks, the ship has automated distress call feautures which activate when the AI is forcefully rebooted or shut down without the proper procedure, thus indicating something being amiss.
- Well balanced: The Khopek-Class SB prides itself on combining the plus sides of its forebearers and adding on to them, with proper armaments, adequate defense and very good maneuvrability and speed, this starfighter's a very usable and balanced example of what a starfighter should be.
- Compact: The Khopek-Class SB is a short, light starship, allowing it to be stowed away efficiently in hangar bays, easily transported in greater numbers with enough room for mechanics to do their job without ever feeling cramped.
- Versatile bomber: Capable of competing with starfighters when it comes to speed and maneuvrability, the Khopek-class SB is a formidable bomber, making it capable to not only do bomb runs on stationary or slow moving targets, but also on much faster ships.
- Demagnetizing lining: The Infinium E.V.A. lining can be demagnetized in emergency situations, allowing for the pilot to eject from the starfighter efficiently.
- Fully automated: As with the majority of N&Z ships, this ship has the automation both as a boon and a bane, for when the system works, it is an absolute godsent, but when it fails and the crew is shorthanded to handle the menial, but crucial tasks on the ship it could become a problem, especially when there is no experienced engineer or mechanic on board to keep an eye on the engines and reactor without the AI system keeping it all in check.
- Outboard engine vents: The engines exhaust vents and cooling vents are located at the rear and are only minimally shielded by plating, meaning that with the external shields down, these can be a prime target to cripple this ship.
- Unique cockpit: the Khopek SB utilizes a lying-down position for its pilots, which though claimed to be more comfortable and allowing for more sleek and compact dimensions does take quite some time getting used to, especially for older pilots. It also requires different layouts for some ships that have these starfighters on board.
Designed alongside the Khopek SSF, the Khopek SB shares the same unique and slick design and style with it's slightly smaller and slightly less bulky starfighter sister model. From the get go, the N&Z intended for the Khopek to become a multi-variation small craft which could take the fight against the likes of the TIE variations and 'Wing' variations abound in the galaxy. utilizing a strengthened hull with a light, yet strong ersteel SLCA skeletal structure, the Khopek SB was made with the intentional eye on the structural integrity, with a multitude of interconnecting and interweaving rods strengthening the hull and allowing for the vessel to avoid suffering from any scuttle shake when flying with the bomb hatches opened.
Thanks to its somewhat larger frame compared to the SSF, the SB has a larger loading capacity, capable of carrying of to ten bombs of a wide variety, with the usual loadout having two of each present in the cargohold of the SB. To make more room for the bombs and ordinance, the LO AVAC turrets have been removed and as such a larger interior space was achieved, thus allowing for this bomber to be much more lethal in its own appropriated role.
