"It seems we've gone mostly unnoticed." Stanley's voice keyed in through the group's comms as Rook connected him to the informational port. A far more complete version of the station's interior formed on the team's minimap's now, as well as a stream of unrelated information that might prove of interest to the operation. "Hold a tick, looks like we have some friends on the way. A droid engineering team is coming to seal up the patch made by the ship."
A brief silence followed as Rook gestured toward the doors they had come in from. "They'll know about us soon enough. The station's primary reactor seems to be on the lower levels, and the hangers are on the upper level. How long can you keep the doors open for us?"
Stanley answered immediately. "With Miranda's help? Quite some time, though there are bulkheads we will have trouble getting through without a manual interface. I believe Miss Eriss will be more than capable of dealing with those problems, however." The AI chuckled, "Miranda and I do work well with one another, after all."
The soldier replied with a simple grunt and stepped forward. Another path had been marked on their maps - this way led through three sections of hallways, a lounge, and then an factory chambers before it terminated at an elevator. Unfortunately for the team, that was the closest way down.
Metal feet stomped through the corridor. Six massive humanoid automatons were bumbling through the hall. All carried fusion cutters, and two were armed with standard ARs. The group of droids came to a halt in front of the boarding pod, and though they lacked facial features, one could tell they were rather confused.
"Cameras?"
"Cycling on an old feed. I can guarantee you thirty seconds. Can you scramble their comms Miranda? I'm a bit preoccupied fighting off their security measures."
"Weapons free Ironmaw. Take them down before they can report back to their superiors." Alexander's rifle barked as tungsten bolts ripped one of the droids in scattered metal detritus. Another lost the arm carrying its fusion cutter. That was when they turned on the intruders, cutters raised as they charged at an inhuman speed down the hall, the two armed with rifles firing wildly down the corridor in an attempt to suppress the soldiers.
Thus had the battle truly begun.
