Kylo Ren's Lightsaber

If you tell me that these crossguard's sections are vents, then it makes a whole lot of sense. Because, as a medieval longsword practitioner, wielding a weapon which guard might chop my wrist or, worse, my head in some of the Flos Duellatorum/Liechtenauer motions (as it is safer to assume that there are no canonic lightsaber-resistant materials) is not that appealing xD
I mean, to get all the "unusual thing" factor you'd have to pay attention to so much more of your own stuff that it would probably end as a useless distraction, much as that fine gentleman of Blademaster Kas'im said about the double-bladed lightsaber (and more so).

My personal final judgement? Immersion-wise, not my thing, and I place immersion in the highest regard. Coolness factor? Bloody hell yes.

It's a shame Rey disabled it in the final seconds of the fight. I wonder if he'll create a new one in the same style, like Luke making his own after losing his original. It was a unique blade and very dangerous, and the use of the cross-guard against Finn makes it a superb attacking weapon.
