Large Swords?!

[member="Rena Kryze"]

Looking forward to what you make even if it doesn't match what I need. As a mandalorian crafter what would it take to get custom armor one day?

There is no real money on here so I'd like to compensate in any other way that actually compensates.

Real Moment, I have a gold coin with a snowflake on it. Found it in Iceland, guy I took it to assumes it is Viking cold. The snow flake seems out of place for Viking though.

As long as it can resist lightsabers, some blaster fire and explosions and heat (since dragons are in my future) and is light to meadium so I can keep movement and flexibility to a degree, then I don't care what it is made of. I have always liked MantelTech crafts. Them and Mandel Hypernothics.

This is Arrbi Betna's alt, the one who uses the big ol' sword. You can find the sword at the bottom in my sig. It's essentially a beskar zweihander, more or less. This is about as big as any sword should get, and only then in the hands of a augmentation specialist or someone that can use a large weapon due to large size and strength. Even then, the only real reason why this weapon is so heavy is due to the beskar it's made out of. Other materials would weigh far less.

... why not just use a really big calvary saber?(Not a lightsaber of course since they don't curve)

Big weapons are made to be two handed, and unless its a bastard sword, I don't think they've ever been used for mounted combat... at least, not effectively.

A saber is shaped to add to the momentum already added by your mount and is meant to be swung with one hand while the other controls the animal. The reason people don't use claymores on horses... is because its illogical. True you have a dragon who might be strong enough to keep you on, but why risk it? A big sword can be a big hindrance so why use it? Use the weapons designed for the attack, not the one that looks cool.

The important thing to remember of the ridiculous sized swords in FF7 is that they were wielded exclusively by members of SOLDIER, magically enhanced super soldiers with strength (both muscular and bone) strength many times more than a normal human. A single SOLDIER of Cloud's level was considered the equivalent of a human army. Outside that we do not see many swords of as ridiculous proportion in the FF universe. Some of the swords might be odd, but they tend to conform to standard Earth proportions more.

So yeah, because magic.
