- Gunner: The Lark Class Starfighter is a compact starfighter that comes with the ability to have a pair flying it instead of just a single pilot. This addition of the dorsal mounted laser canon turret allows for it fire at enemies in situations other ships would not be able to, such as while being chased. This ability to be gunning down the enemy in more situations gives it a clear advantage over other starfighters.
- Average: While the Lark Class Starfighter is good for being able to shoot in more situations thanks to its armament, that is about all it has going for it. It is an average starfighter defensively, speed wise, and in maneuverability. The dorsal mounted turret also requires a dedicated gunner to operate it that is not an astromech, so if the ship is flown with only a single pilot it is no better than other starfighter out there. If the turret is ever disabled as well due to being shot or hit with a ion blast, the ship has no advantage over any other.
Description: Ashhearth Industries had been dedicated to providing an array on non-combat oriented ships to the market, but the ever troubled times makes the market for combat oriented vessels too tempting not to dip into. With that branching out for a potentially wider market in mind, the designers went to work to create a standard starfighter for general sales. After some research and fewer prototypes than usual, they came up with the Lark Class Starfighter.
The Lark Class Starfighter is made by taking a durasteel frame to contain starship and electrical components together with a durasteel hull. It was made to be more compact than other starfighters while maintaining the performance. This was done not for an advantage in maneuverability as its engines were not designed to support better than average in that regard but more to allow for more of these ships to fit into a hangar than your standard x-wing fighter might. It was given a basic deflector shield to pair up with the durasteel hull to provide it defense and protect the crew from environmental dangers. A laser canon was attached to the fore of the starfighter and a retractable laser canon turret to the dorsal side behind the cockpit. The idea for the retractable turret was to provide the ship a minor advantage over others at the expense of needing a gunner to operate it. The ability for it to retract back into the ship when not in use also helps with maintaining its compact size.
A few features were added onto the Lark class for the sake of the crew. The first was a communication system so that the crew would be able to receive orders and important information while out in the field fighting or traveling. A distress beacon was also added on so that if anything should happen to the ship's ability to fly while the crew was still alive then they and/or the ship can make it easier to track their location. The another feature added on was a slot on the very back of the ship for an astromech. This would allow for in flight repairs to be made as well as provide the pilot with further assistance while flying. The last thing added on was a reinforced cockpit. More durasteel was added than usual around the cockpit without hindering visibility too much to help protect the crew of the fighter, even if it did nothing for the over all defense of the ship itself.
