She listened to his words. They were born of empathy and righteousness. She looked up at him when their hands met. Kindness like this had never found Ran before. The tears kept coming but were no longer stained with struggle. They were blessed by hope. With her newfound freedom she had hoped to see it one day, Kindness, but she didn't know it would be so soon, and she didn't know it'd be directed at her. Ran held Dagon's hand. It was a great comfort and a new one. She felt warm, safe, protected, and cared for. It was a feeling both overwhelming and welcomed. It would take some getting used to.
She wiped her tears again on the back of her hand and nodded. The nod was a response to their shared vision of the future. To build a better one, where their pasts did not become someone else's future.
"There are others. Twenty-one others. I do not know if they are all still alive, but I am going to find out." She announced, picking herself up from her seat on the couch. She wiped both cheeks again until the only memory of her tears were the small puffiness of her eyes. The uncertainty of her feelings left her as well, and it was replaced by the determination to achieve her goal.
