Leap of Faith (complete)

She turned as he gently moved her to where she could look at the temple he offered it up almost like a sanctuary she could hear in his words that he truly understood what she was experiencing.

He was offering what if he let her down, what if she let herself down. She exhaled thinking on this most important decision to once again walk on that path to try and find that deep connection with the force. To have a teacher who understood her, she looked over at him, "You will teach me Conner?"

This was important she needed to trust this path, she needed to show a strength that would help to lead her in the direction he spoke of.

He didn't take his eyes from the Temple looming in the far distance; a picture postcard view from Voss with a moon hugging the atmosphere behind.

Serena asked the question he hoped she wouldn't, but at the same time was glad she did.

"I would teach you if I were able to, Serena. I understand your troubles more than you may think."

Connor refrained from looking at her; part shame, part respect, but he held her shoulder as he let them both take in the sight before them; a future for them both.

"I am not of a rank suited to teach anyone. Not yet. And I will not be on Voss for much longer, as I said, I have business off-world to attend to. But, maybe when I return, then I will certainly see about helping you and working with you if you wish to join us."

A few seconds passed.

"If you join us, there will be support and ears for you to find comfort and guidance with. And I give you my word when I return, I will find you."

The choice was hers.

She listened and nodded the force certainly was odd if it had brought her here to learn, or was it merely to know she was not alone in her fears and thoughts. She had made the connection with him but he was not a teacher..yet.

She looked at the temple could she go into there knowing that the one person she knew understood would not be there. Was even going away. She had to make a choice it would seem. and it would have to be one that she knew would help her to learn.

She was having to decide based upon his word, and her own feelings on it all. He had said he promised he would find her. What if by then she was lost gone into the darkness all because she found herself lacking.

She was unnerved. She was certain this time.

"Those within those walls Conner will they understand in the ways that you do?" It didn't matter really she wasn't sure she could step inside there. Maybe this was a temptation, or maybe this was the final lesson to her to understand her own short sightedness.

He could feel the uncertainty emanate from her, and it was understandable. Landing on an unknown planet, close to an unknown Jedi Order with an unknown Jedi taking her for a walk and filling her head with words was sure to overwhelm anyone in her position.

Letting go of her shoulder, Connor stepped to the side slowly to give her space and stood facing her.

”In times of my darkest hour, those within the walls have helped me. They’ve been tough, they’ve been strong but they’ve been understandings. They did all they could do for me when I needed help, but without ever making me do something I didn’t want. That part was up to me; they only showed me the way, and it was down to me to make that choice.”

Pointing at himself with open hands, he mocked a small bow.

”I’m still here, just, and in one peace and on the discovery of something great about my own ability. Without them, I wouldn’t be here. I’d either be dead, or lost to the Dark Side.”

He smiled and became serious.

”Those inside the Order will help you as much as they can, with understanding ears from those who have experienced great love, great loss and great pain – but all who have come through to form an Order that is a little different…but that’s what makes it so much more exciting.”

Serena nodded considering carefully every word that Connor spoke. She had to admit to disappointment that he would not be the one to guide her path. But perhaps this journey of discovery about his own abilities would provide him with whatever solace he needed.

She could feel her own breath leaving her lungs now, the gentle thumping of her heart as she fought within herself for what to do.

He had said he would find her at some point when he returned. When or If? Friends in a galaxy that twisted and turned as easily as wringing out a towel were hard to find. Finding someone to talk that made you feel like they were listening, also rare in the ever changing galaxy that was their home.

She looked down again, she wasn’t currently lost in the darkness she was merely walking on a path that seemed to have no guidance. No foundation except for the things that she deemed important.

“I will admit to this I wish it was you to train me” She needed a friend or two. Not many more than that.

“I’m set to go cave jumping on Dantooine in a few weeks depending upon your path, maybe you could join me there.” She smiled again thinking about the first time she leapt off the side into the darkness below. “Bring some friends if you want, more the merrier”

“Ok Connor I will give them a chance to show me the path.” She only hoped her experience was as fruitful as his.

She looked over at him finally, “I still believe the force meant for you to talk with me this day, whether it was to make this decision, or for something else further down the road. We are meant to be friends [member="Connor Harrison"]”

have arranged for a Silver Jedi Trainer. This has been fun, thank you. Perhaps we can do another with a bit more drama

Chewing his lop gently, Connor followed her glance to the ground and saw the, what looked like, disappointment.

He gently placed his fingers under her chin and raised her head back up; that smile there once more to try make her feel at ease.

”If I make Master one day, I will be sure to seek you out and train you in all I know – combat, meditation, self-belief and self-control.”

Connor took in a breath and nodded at the thought of a thrilling cave jump, something he’d never done before but had seen accounts of those daredevils brave – or stupid – enough to do so. Maybe after everything, it would be another release of the “old” and welcoming the “new” Connor Harrison.

”You please me, Serena, by giving them a chance. That’s all I ask you do, but I sinerly hope you find your way in our Order. Whatever happens though, promise me one thing – don’t lie to yourself and try to be someone you’re not. Be you. Be Serena. That is the greatest they can ask of you.”

He extended his hand, taking her soft palm in his and the Jedi shook it gently.

”I will take you to them, and I will be sure to meet you again. Cave jumping sounds wonderfully insane, Miss Bouie. Thank the Force for bringing you to me today.”

Another ally and another friend who believed in him was just what he needed for the journey ahead. He only hoped he would survive it to see her again flourishing as a fellow Jedi.
