Leaving Taris

Sun looked to space. He had left home days ago and wasn't planning on returning. His hike to the nearest spaceport was nearly over, and soon he would hopefully find somewhere to work or possibly even someone to train him.

As he hiked he realized how easy it was to survive on his own. He had been on his own before, but never this long. He had pickpocketed some credits and even a ration bar. As he walked down the final street, he wondered if he would ever leave Taris

He got to the air field, and to his surprise the giant concrete area was a wreckage field. Dozens of downed ships lie around in broken heaps. A few of them seemed in better shape, so he walked over to the north side of the once thriving spaceport. And there it was. What probably looked like junk to the average traveler was really a functional freighter. Measuring about 80 meters in length, and 50 meters wide, this junker ship could probably be repaired into fully working ship. Most of the ship was intact, and it could definently lift off, but weeks of scavengers had left the hull looking bear.

"Careful, R-6" Arturin whispered to his trusty droid "the sith are also looking for the holocron." The young Jedi knight scanned the air field for any movement. "This would be much easier with a padawan" he thought to himself. Arturin had been looking for a padawan to but had failed to find the right one. But that would have to wait. His mission was much more important. Not only did it come straight from the Jedi council but the ancient holocron was also highly sought after by the sith. Clearing his mind and focusing on his mission and the surrounding area, he entered the air field.

After scouting the ship, Sun decided it was time to move on. He wished he knew more about the force, for then it would be much easier to know if any danger was approaching. He had heard stories about jedi's who could feel if enemies were near, and yet the only thing Sun could do was recall stories a passing Jedi had told him. And yet sudden, Sun did feel something. Was his mind playing tricks on him, or was it the force, telling him someone was near by. Sun calmed his nerves and focused on what he was feeling. What he felt didn't seem dangerous. It felt... Pleasent? There was only one thing he could do. Sun stepped out into the open so anyone lurking in the shadows could clearly see him. [member="Arturin"]

Arturin stopped immediately, sensing a presence nearby. R-6 beeped in question. "Quiet, R-6." Arturin focused on the presence. Close, he thought. His hand fell to his lightsaber, then took it off. The presence didn't feel dark or dangerous. It felt young, hopeful, and...lost. He located the presence on the other side of the remains of a freighter. Softly he said " Come, young one. I mean no harm."

Sun froze in his tracks. A voice called out to him, telling him to come around the freighter. Quietly, Sun climbed up the side of the freighter and peered over its hull. Instead of steathfully watching the figure, Sun noticed the figure was already watching him. He climbed back down and went up the the man. "Who are you," Sun asked," and how did you find me? [member="Arturin"]

"My name is Arturin, and I am a Jedi," Arturin said, pulling back the hood of his Jedi robe, "and I felt your presence with the force." To give the young man an example of the force, he focused on the area around a pebble and used the force to levitate the pebble, lifting it to the strangers eye level. "And you do you might be, stranger."

Sun didn't hear the man at first, all his attention was on the hovering object located inches from his face. "I'm Sun, Sun Charr." He took his eyes away from the pebble. "I left my village because it was being over run by rakghouls." Sun was lying, he had run away to find more about his real family, and any way he could get of his plagued home world would be good enough for him. " If I were you, I would leave Taris like now. We aren't safe here in the shade, the rakghouls might find us. If your leaving Taris take me with you. I could clean your ship or something!" [member="Arturin"]

Arturin chuckled. "You are very eager to get off this planet. But I can't leave just yet. Have you happened to see a holocron in this vicinity? My droid located it...oh, I almost forgot! This is R-6," Arturin said, motioning towards his favorite droid. R-6 beeped in greeting to [member="Sun Yun Charr"]

Sun was intrigued by this mystery mans metal companion, but he had seen plenty of other R series droids in the past. "Holocron? I've never even heard of one before. Is it important?" He said in response to Arturin. "I can help you look if you need help!" He quickly added. [member="Arturin"]

"It is very important. It's a blue, cubical crystal." Arturin smiled. "If you could help me look for it, your help would be greatly appreciated..." [member="Sun Yun Charr"]

For the first time ever, Sun felt like he was wanted... Needed even. Although Sun had decided to never fully trust anyone again, if this Jedi wanted his help, perhaps in exchange for a ride of this rock, Sun would be happy to give it. "Well, this freighter behind us has the symbol of the Jedi painted on it. If your Holocron is hidden in the wreckage it might be there, There's also some caves under the abondoned spaceport. They are full of rakghouls, but I suppose it could be hidden in there." [member="Arturin"]

Arturin saw a flicker of light in Sun's eyes. Arturin closed his eyes, as if thinking on where to look for the holocron, but instead focused on the Sun. His suspicions were correct. He was force sensitive. "Maybe...," Arturin thought to himself. He opened his eyes and looked at the freighter in front of them. If the ancient Jedi holocron was still here, the freighter would be the most likely place to find it. "I believe the freighter would be the best place to look."

Sun nodded. "I was about to check it out when you came. I saw the ramp entrance under the front of the ship, but I think it was locked." Sun glanced down towards Arturins belt, where a polished lightsaber hung loosely. "I bet that could unlock the doors. You could go all Jedi on it and chop down the ramp. I was going to hack into the door controls, but using a weapon would be faster." [member="Arturin"]

Sun knew how to hack? Impressive. "Yes, I believe going 'Jedi' on the door would be faster, but those doors are made of thick durasteel to protect them from attack by pirates. I believe hacking the door controls is the only way that we can gain entrance into the freighter." Arturin walked over towards the ramp entrance. "Okay, sun, show me what you can do."
[member="Sun Yun Charr"]

Sun didn't know if Arturin truly believed that hacking the ships doors would be the best way to enter the freighter, or if instead he was testing Sun. Whatever the case, Sun knew that by hacking the doors he could perhaps later on hack the entire ships systems and use the ship to leave Taris. He knelt down by the doors and took of the door panel. As Sun had expected, the main "open" switch was locked down. Sun popped the switch of the control board and accesed the wires inside. Using his homemade pocket blade he sliced the wires and connected the power wire with the control wire. To Suns surprise, nothing happened. At first Sun was nervous, but then he realized what had happened. A security program had stopped the doors, so by rebooting the power he could trigger the doors. He reached as far into the system as he could and found a power board. He flipped the power off then back on and the doors slid open, revealing a descending ramp. Sun stood up and looked to Arturins for his reaction. [member="Arturin"]

Arturin smiled approvingly at sun. "Very good, sun. Now let's see if we can find this holocron." Arturin entered and started to search the ship for anything that could contain the holocron. When he approached the bridge, he felt the force emminating from from inside. The holocron, he thought to himself. He realized he had another chance to test sun. "Sun, do you sense or feel anything different about the bridge?"

[member="Sun Yun Charr"]

Sun looked down the catwalk to the approaching bridge. He focused his thoughts and tried to picture the bridge in his mind. Immediately he sensed something different under the pilots seat. He felt around the chair and found a release lever. With a hiss, the chair slid away, revealing a small smuggling compartment. Inside was a strange box, yet from this box was the thing he sensed. He picked it up and handed it to the Jedi [member="Arturin"]

Arturin thankfully took the box from sun. "Very good sun," Arturin said with a smile. Maybe now was the right time. "Sun, I think I might know a reason for you to leave this planet." Sun's eyes lit up. Arturin continued "Sun, you are what we Jedi call force sensitive. You could become a Jedi, sun. And if you would like, I have been looking for a padawan. Would you..." Just then Arturin felt a disturbance. Hate, anger, malice. All coming behind him. He turned in the blink of an eye, readying his lightsaber as the saw a red lightsaber blade activate in the darkness behind them. "RUN SUN!" he yelled as he blocked the sith's downward swipe, his blue blade stopping the black cloaked siths red blade.

Suns heart soared when Arturin said he could leave the planet. When he was notified he might become a Jedi, Sun flipped out. Suddenly in two bright colorful flashes the bridge they were in lit up with lightsaber flashes. Arturin yelled for Sun to run. Sun ducked down and sat by the pilot's controls. The quickest he had ever done before, Sun hacked into the ships network and powered the old freighter to life. While the with was distracted, Sun lifted up on the controls, dumping Arturin and the sith out of the room and tumbling down the hall. Before the sith could possibly kill Sun's new friend, Sun ran down the hall and pushed the sith down a flight of stairs, letting Arturin regain his weapon and continue the fight. Sun looked back at the bridge, where the freighter soared uncontrollably through the clouds. [member="Arturin"]

Arturin force jumped to where the sith was regaining his footing in the now flying ship. As soon as he landed he immediately engaged the sith, attacking and counterattacking in graceful and powerful strikes, blocks, and acrobatics, almost like a dance. When they locked blades, both force pushed each other, the rebounding force sending both flying across the room. Both regained their footing simultaneously, force pulled their lightsabers to their hands, and charged each other. When the sith came within distance, Arturin slid under the siths swinging blade and sliced through the sith's left leg. As the sixth fell to one leg, Arturin came to his feet, twisted the lightsaber in his hand, and jabbed it behind him, impaling the sith. He deactivated his lightsaber. Sensing with the force that the sith was still living, he whispered to the sith, "It's not too late. You can still turn the the light side and redeem yourself." The sith drew a deep breath and exhaled, "...never..." and collapsed.
