A woman of your stature and title must likely have no shortage of supply when it comes to suiters.”
"You may think that, but it is quite the opposite, I am most surrounded by strongly religious and zealous Jedi, not the sort who are typically open to intimacy." she imagined the idea of entering into a relationship with many of the Ashlans, the likes of Pietro Demici, he would be an excellent husband to have, but she couldn't imagine him settling down as a married man.

"you are right, it is lonely and lot of the time, the idea of being on a ship with Two hundred thousand other souls, but feeling completely isolated is strange, but something I as an Admiral, and likewise you as a Senator have likely become a little numb to."

Let out a small laugh as Tiresh joked about the alcohol intake smoothing along their friendship, she quickly double checked her own blood alcohol level, on her Bio-chip, no more than expected, a little too high to fly legally under Ashlan law, but not so high it should cause her any problems. "I enjoy you too, maybe the next time we meet we should do something without alcohol present, and find out whether we can actually stand each other." she grinned knowing that Tiresh was only joking, or at least she assumed she was. "maybe we could go to the theatre, or ice skating. Or we could put on pretty dresses and go rock climbing?"

As they chatted, Isla listened intently tonger friend and admired her features. They had grown close very quickly and it was nice. Isla still harboured a little concern it may be some ruse to get close to her but if it was then she wouldn't be the first or the last to try that. She had tucked her arm around Tiresh to help keep her warm and to pull her out of the snow under the increasingly cramped shelter.

She was about to move her arm to return to the bar and her eyes widened as she suddenly realised, while her hand rested at the small of the senator's back she had been unconsciously stroking her spine with her thumb. How relaxed was she? How drunk was she? And how long had she been doing that without noticing. Was the Senator aware? She gingerly pulled her arm away, her embarrassment was hard to hide, she had to hope that Tiresh hadn't noticed. "So, I need to pop to the ladies, I will be right back, another drink?"

Tiresh looked intently at Isla as she shared the reality of their shared struggle. It resonated deeply with her, the concept of feeling alone in a room full of people. Of coarse, for Tiresh, it was often other senators or delegates in an elegent hall or venue… not a massive ship full of people under her command. But the underlying sentiment surely resonated just the same.

Tiresh gave Isla a silly and slightly pouty expression with her lower lip protruding at the prospect of their next meeting being void of alcohol. The Senator most definitely had a vice, and she could always be counted upon to be sampling the spirits provided at fundraisers and corporate meetings.

“I’m not sure I could stand myself without alcohol present!” She jested with a laugh. At the mention of climbing mountains with pretty dresses, Tiresh raised her eyebrow and gave Isla a playful glare. “Oh dear, what have I done… I shall give you no more ammunition missy! Surely you must even this playing field with an embarrassing story of your own? It’s only fair! And yes… I will most definitely wield it against you. Tiresh laughed lightly as she nuzzled herself into the fur a bit more, her body being brought closer to Isla as the Grand Admiral wrapped her arm around her back, pulling her further out of the elements. Tiresh looked back out at the passerby’s as she continued to muse upon what Isla had suggested. “Ice Skating? Being from an ice planet I fear your advantage over me would be considerable, but…” She smiled, “I’d like that.”

It was then that Tiresh notice the unmistakable soft stroking sensation that was occurring at the small of her back. She fought the urge to tense up, immediately experiencing a sense of worry. She didn’t know why she felt what she did, but it likely had to do with her own insecurity and not fully knowing how she should interpret the intimate touch. She took a sip of her drink, not showing any change in expression as she tried to process and interpret what was happening. The last thing she wanted to do was misstep… to endanger their relationship… their partnership… It wasn’t as much of a negative reaction to the touch as it was a fear of the unknown. She didn’t know what was expected of her… or what Isla was signaling… or perhaps she wasn’t signaling anything… and it was simply a friendly touch.

It did feel nice.

Suddenly the stroking stopped, quickly followed by the arm being pulled gently away from her back. Tiresh shifted her eyes back over to Isla, instantly noticing a sense of embarrassment flashing across the Grand Admirals face. Tiresh’s own cheeks flushed with embarrassment at seeing hers. Oh no… Tiresh had failed to meet Isla’s expectations... maybe it wasn’t a friendly touch after all? Maybe it had been intended to be more?

She was about to try to apologize to the Grand Admiral, but right then Isla excused herself to the ladies room and suggested they have another drink.

“Of coarse!” She flashed a reassuring smile and squeezed Isla's arm softly, attempting to reassure her that she had not been offended by the touch. As Isla walked away, Tiresh walked up to the stall, a rather stunned expression washing over her face.

“Two more, please.” She said as her gaze locked onto the wall behind the owner of the stall. Her mind was racing as she tried to process… to interpret….

She softly punched the stall with an edge of frustration as she felt like it was somehow her fault. Had she been flirting with Isla? Maybe she had sent a signal to her… it was possible… she had let down her guard an awful lot. She replayed her actions in her mind. She thought that she had been thinking more in the realm of friendship… but…

Isla was a wonderful woman. Powerful… beautiful… smart… suddenly the agent inside of her told her to manipulate, to obtain, to move forward towards romance. She would be an impressive asset…

“Shut up.”
She whispered under her breath to Kalie as she shook those horrid thoughts out of her head. “I’m not going to do that. Thats awful.”

Above all, Tiresh cherished this woman. She cherished the natural connection they shared. She cherished the kindred spirit she had stumbled upon. Her biggest fear was loosing this connection… saying the wrong thing… doing the wrong thing…

She felt paralyzed.

Tiresh looked at the cup in font of her, slowly turning it in her fingers. Her eyes suddenly filled with tears… the fear of loss almost palpable. She couldn’t loose her. She gulped down the cup, motioning for another. As it came, she drank it down just as quickly.

She blinked the tears from her eyes as her mind settled into a deeper level of intoxication. She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, calming herself down. The truth was, Isla had wanted to get another drink with her. So maybe everything was fine… Maybe things would be ok.

Tiresh would be her friend. She would be her lover. She would be her partner…. She would be anything.

She just didn’t want to do this alone anymore….
